What modern MX compatible switch comes to your minds, guys, that fits your idea of a "retro switch?"
For example, do you think of "clicky" switches when thinking of older boards from the 70s and 80s? Switches with higher actuation force? Or do does some other feature come to mind entirely?
I'm curious as to what some of you here might think about that, as I will probably put the Symbiosis keyset on this board.
Linears. They're the oldest type of switch by far, due to their simplicity. I have multiple boards dating from the very early 80s and late 70s, and many of them have some sort of linear switch, such as Cherry M7s.

I was thinking something relatively extreme like BOX navy or royal, but I'm probably going to be using nice caps like Symbiosis or Pulse and worry that the BOX stem issues haven't been completely resolved. I also think that RealForce with BKE redux light domes is tactile "end game" for me. So for now I'm leaning towards tealios or possibly retooled cherry mx blacks.
Thanks for the replies, guys.
I plan on ultimately putting Symbiosis 2.0 on my board as well. I also have many box switches, but am currently afraid to use them in their current state. I hope the
Stemshaver tool fixes these issues, but time will tell there.
I do have some other switches in my arsenal I could try if that doesn't pan out, though. Some Gateron Green, Black, and Yellow switches, for example. I feel like something a bit stiffer might be called for here however. Those Tealios switches
are super nice though, I'm using them right now in my Tokyo60.
Wish this Elephant PCB had hot swap sockets... then I wouldn't agonize over the switch choice so much.
Seeing these first pics makes me very excited though!
