Looks like a good start!Everything fits quite well. I will take photos when I can.
How is the fit on a board?
Ahh, found you! Glad to see the beginnings :)
Congratulations on early success! It would be an interesting look, if you could get a whole board worth of color-swirled caps. If you could manage to align the swirls, that would be a nice trick. If you could get brown and dark brown swirls to line up and look like wood grain, that would be a *very* nice trick. That would be incredibly nice but very hard.
These two look fantastic!Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/Lt6gdqL.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/Lwu2L0O.jpg)
are those glow in the dark? No, it's just colour. They do look very nice though.

These are looking great, the one on the left is my favourite, if it were in red it would look like a blood splat which would be better still!
I like how you've progressed to an actual design too rather than sticking to blanks, keep it up :thumb:
How do you get the Heart model for molding? I mean did you use 3d printed sample or just use your hand work.I made it out of super sculpey
Looking good, and is that a new design or two I see? (the pinky coloured faces :) )It is :) Spending a bit of time on this one to try to make it a better sculpt.
@RoastPotatoes these posts are amazing and make me wish I was doing this too. Thanks for all the posts and photos!

I believe in you. Just have a go! If you have any questions I might be able to help but KatzenKinder has also been very helpful with answering my questions....

I keep thinking about making caps, but I get to the warnings about exploding pressure chambers then go looking for a good one, find nothing but paint sprayers and realise it's late and I should go to bed. In the morning I realise I'm not creative enough to come up with a good design anyway and forget about the idea.
I go through this cycle everytime I see a new person getting good and now you've mastered doubleshot arms you've joined the list - bedtime is still hours away so maybe tonight's the night :))
This is awesome work RP! Keep it up :thumb: :thumb: . Any chance for some pink topre fn giveaway? :p

Once I reach the point where I have a completed sale. I will do one.
Congratulations, these are looking better and better! The faded-corners ones in the top row make me think again of wood grain switches. I don't have an idea of how you are applying the colors, but it occurred to me that a paintbrush for surface lines and injecting the rest, might be a way to get some kind of stripes. It's just an idea, not a suggestion.Whilst that sounds like a good idea I think that will kill the brushes. I am currently using ink pens that have variable width. They somewhat allow you to use the resin like ink for a short period before it starts to gel. I do have a very strong tub of chemicals somewhere that gets fibreglass resin off paint brushes so that might work on brushes. I will have to look into it.

Sale thread is awaiting approval :)
Damn, this is probably the only night this year I'll go to bed early and have to get up and out in the morning so I'll probably miss the sale unless the mods are all too hungover to notice and approve it.Thank you :)
Hope it goes well :)
Wow, great work! I especially like the way the colors are blending together on the pink and yellow RWarriors.I have been calling them apple and strawberry. They are one of my favourite colour blends, but I have been unable to re-create the vibrant red I had in one. The best one was an accident and I turned it into a keychain.
Very strawberry lemonade-y, yum~ ^-^
My caps have arrived, including an awesome surprise orange HeartKey - some pics and my thoughts are in the mail thread (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=33130.msg1797154#msg1797154).Sorry about the Fn colour. I will blame that on the photo. I kept all of my keycaps in the same position as shown in the photo to make sure I could pick the right ones. I'm glad you liked some of them :)
Thanks RP :D
Congrats on a successful first sale RP!!!! Can't wait to see what you have coming in the future.Thank you! It's nice to see you around so much recently :)

I just went through this whole thread. It's cool to see all the progress you've made. Are you shaping the molds by hand? Thanks! And the sculpts are all done by hand. If that's what you mean. The moulding is a hands on process but you don't do a lot.
Wow man I haven't checked out this thread in a while and you have made so much great progress! Sorry I missed the sale I would definitely have been in on it... was that an airbrush in one of the pics? Do you paint them with that or use dyed resin? Or both? Anyway keep it up looks awesome man!On a couple I painted the inside of the mould with pigment before pouring the resin. I have done this in conjunction with coloured resin with some interesting results.

These are my successful BS caps made today. Only one has been unsuccessful so far. I have chosen to go with one piece construction as I can make them thicker and this makes them more accessible. They are a little trickier than topre stems, although saying that, I have had a higher success rate so far.
I should hope so. I can only recommend them.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/gA6WVDi.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/XbdWFbm.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/YVq5NWt.jpg)

These look great! An excuse for me to get a Model M maybe?

I really love the pastel colors. What kind of dye do you use on them if you don't mind me asking? This stuff (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281203658854?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT). I'm running a bit low. I managed to drop around 3 the other day.

Thank you! I was a bit surprised to know that it was powdered.. and now it makes sense why the caps weren't translucent. Will you be making a bacon soon? :)

Edit: I also have some blue pigment paste but I don't use that. I still find it in all over my room.
The pigment paste gives a very strong colour. Anything it touches goes very blue. There were times where I must have touched some and I have looked down at my HHKB to see it covered in blue finger prints. My trackball still has blue on it.I have been thinking about bacon along the length of a shift keyI really love the pastel colors. It can be very hard. But I learnt always use some demoulding stuff. I just use vaseline, as little as possible and get it in as far as you can. Silicone is very strong so you can stretch it easily. After that it is no trouble. I always have trouble on the first mould.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/gA6WVDi.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/XbdWFbm.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/YVq5NWt.jpg)

Isn't it hard to demold the buckling spring keys? The small notches on the stem seems like they'd stick to the mold while removing it!
Loving the egg caps, and as always your color choices are on point. Do these have names yet?"Egg Escape" I think. The issue is, I have more broken than functional ones.

Same, maybe format it cleverly?
Like E[gg]scape or something fancy like that.
You are doing some great stuff man! Super original and fun sculpts... I really like the eggs, what a great idea. I also like yours stems how they are kinda square for MX. I was thinking of doing something along those lines but always forget about it after I finish a sculpt. You are pumping out designs so fast and I have been working on the same one for 2 weeks! You said you are using a paste for pigment? I have only seen liquid kinds. I also noticed they all seem pastel, is that because the pigment is pastel or are you using white resin that turns them pastel when it solidifies? Anyways, keep it up!The squareish stems look cool but you lose novatouch compatibility and I was thinking with the increase in MX sliders this could be more of a problem.
I have been experimeting with making keycaps. I followed KatzenKinder's guide (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=62696.0) to get started. I have only done blanks as I don't have any pbt caps to spare.
