[IC] GMK set with "basic" color scheme?
« on: Tue, 19 January 2016, 11:34:49 »
I really want to try GMK keycaps but would prefer a basic color scheme such as white text on black caps or some other single color combination.  Is there any interest in something like this?
Filco FKBN104MC/EB
Filco FKBN104M/EB2
IBM Model M 1391401 - 11/13/87

There was a white on black GMK group buy done elsewhere a while back.

The quote we got from GMK for that exact set was a lot cheaper than most GMK buys I've seen. I got the impression perhaps GMK makes some white on black already in their rotation for another customer so they charge a little less for it. Another member and myself were in talks to run something like this but didn't think there would be enough demand.

I know JTK is still in the process of improving and making things better but for the price they are really hard to beat for the price.

Also many cherry doubleshot white on black caps both used and new are still floating around on ebay and here in the classifieds occasionally.

I wonder what the costs would be. I wonder what the costs would be for a BoW set too.

If it's low enough would people want to buy a kit that included both?

I would.

Well I'm fairly certain the set posted in my photo above could be done and shipped for ~$100. Now you start changing things etc I have no idea.

I'm not trying to change anything. I'm just curious of what the costs would be.

Either way I need a proper brand new WoB GMK set.

I remember that GMK Classic Beige was just as expensive as any colourful GMK (i.e. Hyperfuse) buy when it was run by Photekq

I'd totes be down for GMK WoB and BoW sets. I know JTK makes them, but I haven't been following their progress so I'm not sure what the general consensus is.

Maybe not Black/White but I'd love a 'basic' color scheme.

Considering that TA was sold for $100, I can't imagine this to be much cheaper than that

Recommendations:
F J with bars
Compatibility with g80-3000/1800
UK ISO

If it was $70 it would be an insta buy. If it is more expensive that that, people will start to consider new or original sets that they actually really like.

Yes, I would want F/J with bars as well.

And scoops too, not to offend anyone.

I seriously doubt you'd be able to get all that for $70, with all standard keys that is.

I mean, I'd be happy but I'm not hopeful.

Personally I'd just redirect everyone to my "The Matrix" GMK IC:

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=78931.0

green legends on black caps - that still qualifies as a "basic" color scheme, right?

In reality this IC is going to be subject to the same holdups as my other one.
