What is the colorway of keyset?

Black on black (or black/dark gray, think HHKB standard set but I believe inverted).

Regarding the prototype picture... Well, just bring on the GB already. Here's hoping Yuktsi and Sherry manage to maintain the price tag that is planned.

Also, do you still plan on having different proxies for shipping to Europe, Asia and NA? As someone living in the EU, cutting down on shipping and VAT costs which are SUPER pricey these days by having someone in the UK handle things would make a colossal difference - I know plenty of other enthusiasts who have to skip out on these things because no one likes paying $100 for int. shipping for a $200-300 product and then getting hit with 25% value added tax on top of the final amount making it twice as expensive as it is for everyone else.

The price for shipping might decrease, but the proxy would still have to pay for VAT.

Depends on who the proxy is I suppose, I guess if it is a singular person handling it then they won't have a VATID number but if it is handled by a business then that'd probably save a decent amount. You do make a fair point though in that there is a slim chance that'll be the case, either way if it is someone in the UK handling it then 20% is still better than the 23% I'd have to pay in Portugal (Finland, Sweden, Denmark etc all have even higher percentages as of right now too).

Wait...so many people complain gaming keyboards(not defending them just making a point) have huge bezels and stuff and are bulky but this thing's bezel is freaking HUGE...no wait it's fuarking GIGANTIC but gets so much support and now it is okay...what. Unless no one here has ever criticized gaming keyboards with huge bezels but I have seen plenty of that in posts and people here like small keyboards (HHKB, TKL,plancks, etc).

Just curious, but best of luck in your project.

So a large bezel puts it in the same category as a gaming keyboard?

 :))

This board has support due to the unique aesthetic, the great price point and the people involved.

You will see a lot of conflicting opinions on forums as to what makes a nice looking keyboard, nice sized keyboard, etc. as that is highly is subjective. Try not to worry about it.

The point was not same category, but a part of a keyboard people have criticized in other keyboards but it is now okay.

You picked the most extreme gawdy gaming keyboard that barely anyone buys  :))  However, Logitech, Coolermaster, even Razer are nowhere near that and have smaller bezels that people have criticized. Again, I HATE mostly all gaming keyboard designs was just making a point.

I can see the other points of the simple designs of this keyboard people could like. Was just confused for the amount of extreme support whenever I see people criticizing big bezels. Yeah true but still found it odd.

It's more like overgeneralizations are inaccurate.  Those who like keyboards to be as compact as possible don't have the same preferences as those who like full size keyboards, etc., etc.   Plenty of tiny keyboard ICs and group buys for those who want them.  There's also a sizable percent of people who like unique and unusual designs, of which this is one.

For a couple of years it was low-profile case 60% keyboards or nothing. Now a lot of people are into 40%. Recently the 'high profile' case design, SA caps and retro inspired designs are 'trending'  :)

As per the prototype pictures it is looking like it'll be about the size of a regular full sized keyboard (eg. VA108) - tons of people that dislike gamer brand keyboards do so for reasons other than their size (or as well as), personally 60-65% are my go to and the only boards I won (except a Novatouch which is a TKL) but the bezels on this don't bother me in the slightest. The layout's size will remain the same, the keys will be as easy to access and function with as they are on my WhiteFox for example, the bezels and the keyboard's size have zero impact on my typing experience, it's all aesthetic.

Comparing the design of this to the design of a K70 for example is just silly in my mind, it's like saying if you dislike the way a Hummer looks then you have to hate owning a Rolls Royce too - just because they're both boat sized doesn't mean one can't be refined whilst the other is overdone and awkward to drive. Bare in mind I'm not saying Hummers look ridiculous, I'm just saying they're completely different from Rollers in terms of design, function, target audience and pretty much everything else imaginable despite their size.

edit: typo.

I'm all for thick bezels, but it looks really uneven with the thinner horizontal bezels. Maybe if you add one or two keys on one side of the keyboard it won't look as uneven.

I do like some of the early concepts that had slightly more narrow side bezels, I like that they are atypically wide, but I wonder if they are maybe too wide on that prototype, they could be brought in, still be quite large, and create a better overall balance..?

This might not be a popular opinion but I would love to see an option for very light beige anodization. Kind of like older PCs and peripherals used to be. SA Retroblight or Canvas XDA and that light beige case colour would be B-E-A-U-tiful!

The fact that this board is so divisive makes it all the more desirable in my eyes. If you want a straight up 60% or 65%, there are plenty of options that all look pretty much the same. Coming in here and hating on the project, and ending your post with, "but best of luck," doesn't make your point valid.

I'm most interested in this board because it doesn't try to come off as "portable" like so many boards in this category do. Its big and it isn't afraid to show it. This is what makes it unique and unlike any other custom in this category. I'm gonna set it on my desk knowing full well it isn't going anywhere anytime soon :thumb:

Wait...so many people complain gaming keyboards(not defending them just making a point) have huge bezels and stuff and are bulky but this thing's bezel is freaking HUGE...no wait it's fuarking GIGANTIC but gets so much support and now it is okay...what. Unless no one here has ever criticized gaming keyboards with huge bezels but I have seen plenty of that in posts and people here like small keyboards (HHKB, TKL,plancks, etc).

Just curious, but best of luck in your project.

I am not really hating on the project more on the hypocritical aspect of some people of criticizing huge bezels than being super excited for something that has one. Not the project itself so calm down there. Why I said best of luck, because it isn't with the project it self just with the conflicting opinions I have been seeing(overall , or atleast what I have read aesthetics wise).  I never thought that made a point valid.

Well it will be a very unique item that is for sure and people are super excited for it.

This might not be a popular opinion but I would love to see an option for very light beige anodization. Kind of like older PCs and peripherals used to be. SA Retroblight or Canvas XDA and that light beige case colour would be B-E-A-U-tiful!

Amen. Too many haters cause it doesn't conform to the standards of current 65% - that is the point lol. It's got high end materials and it's not afraid to show it.

Yes, thats closer to what i was thinking with light beige. I'm not a fan of the gold look of champagne to be honest.

Seriously!  I feel like people are thinking they are being forced to like it or something.  Obviously this isn't for everyone.  If you don't like it, move along.  There are plenty of more 'normal' options out there.

This would look so classy paired with DSA Midas if it ever gets off the ground.

Oh no, you should get the gmk bundle with this board
because...
well... cherry profile is the best really ;)
Oh please, SA is the best

SA looks prettiest, but I slightly prefer cherry for typing

You didn't address my earlier comments so I'll be assuming that means you agree with the points I made or don't have counter arguments. However your use of the word bezels is bothering me a little - what do you mean "criticizing huge bezels"? I understand people like smaller form keyboards over gigantic full sizes ones nowadays and the Razer Blackwidow for example has fairly sizeable bezels as do some of the older/dreadful corsair ones but the most popular ones nowadays (as far as I'm aware), the K70/90, Masterkeys Pro, Quick Fire XTi, Quick Fire Rapid, yada yada, none of those actually have large bezels, they're just big and in the case of the Corsairs/Roccat come with an included wrist rest.

That's different from having huge bezels, your analogies are so fragile that it is hard to agree/understand the point you're trying to convey.

I'm having such a hard time deciding whether to go with Black or Space Gray. Might have to buy two  :)).

Question: since this is based on ps2avrGB firmware and Bootmapper GUI, what keymap would I use if I'm following this tutorial http://blog.winkeyless.kr/183? keymap_gb_B87(EX).hex? Or will the keyboard have it's own keymap and instructions?

Black goes with everything! If there were rose gold I'd be tempted but it's just so easy and effortless to match any and all keysets (in my opinion) with black; some better some worse, but they all work in their own way.

Or you missed a 3rd assumption, at the time I did not have time to reply back to you  :)) . Kind of very arrogant assumptions if you think the only options are agreeing with you or having no counterarguments if I have not responded in less than an hour. There is only 1 definition for bezels in regards to keyboards that I know of and it means the case bezel alone in a keyboard case , not the form size (TKL,etc). Like many mechanical keyboards have big bezels in either TKL or full size.  Logitech keyboards can have large bezels (on the side) G710 . Razer Black Widow has big (thick) Bezels. The most popular ones I have seen criticized.

Your understanding of the word 'bezel' in regards to a keyboard is what is fragile here. It was easy to understand.

I had no idea that person were going to this much emotion over something like this. Maybe it says something about their choices idk. I just had a break , wrote this and come back and someone is trying hard to articulately write their response to make it sound like everything they say is an axiom in the keyboard world.

Well I had enough of this I don't want to spam this thread. Just wanted to point something out that I thought was conflicting from many things I have read in GH. I wasn't here to hate on the product itself which people are ignoring but more of that conflicting criticism towards previous keyboards with thick bezels.

But before I go I need to say 1 more thing

Can we please stop saying the word bezel?

bezel

bezel.

Champagne, yes.  Beige... I think that's going to be like white which can only be accomplished by acid etching the aluminum.  Powder coating would probably be the only option there.
