Cognitive distortions are patterns of thought, typically automatic and unconscious, that cause an inaccurate, negative view of situations, people, and/or events. These include things like jumping to conclusions; black-and-white thinking; negative mental filtering; overgeneralizing; mindreading (incorrectly believing we know what others are thinking, what their motives are); and emotional reasoning (believing that if we are feeling something, or if what we are thinking is associated with a strong emotion, it must be true).

stuff like this was happening even before it was politicized and in the news.  we just didn't hear about it as often.

The avalanche of insanity coming out of "Red States" deserves a place of its own.

https://people.com/politics/florida-proposal-mandating-menstrual-questions-female-athletes/

While I think that this seems like a ridiculous overreach into the privacy of female athletes, it was probably born out of the (even more ridiculous) policy of allowing male-born athletes to compete in female events. Does this seem fair, for the XX sex to have to compete with people who have had the benefit of developing stronger, more muscular bodies during their formative years (with the presence of much greater,, natural quantities of  testosterone)?

Just as their are weight and age classes in many competitive sports, women have traditionally had categories where they could competitively participate. Already, there have been numerous examples of female athletes losing rankings and scholarships after placing lower in competitions against people who weren’t  born female.

Similar problems have for some time existed with unenhanced  athletes who are uncompetitive against those who are on SARMS, anabolic steroids, and/or other elicit, performance enhancing drugs.

What do you think the solution is?

We're going to have a trans sports league over time.

Also, most physical sports are kinda dumb and boring to watch.

Esports will be the great unifier.

Trans people are an extremely small portion of the population (and even less so in sports) and it's not always the advantage in women's sports people seem to think. Yes, there are places where it's an advantage, but even when it is how much depends on many factors. It's complicated but it's also far less a problem than the media would have you believe. There will never be a trans sports league because it's too few people and the performance spectrum is too wide.

Esports will not be an equalizer for the same reason sports in general are going to become more and more of a problem...
We've entered an age where we can make the human body better at specific things than it is naturally either through drugs or physical modification.  People using drugs to reverse aging (yes it's a thing now), prosthetic legs that allow you to run faster, doping like Lance Armstrong...  In Esports, reaction time and hand/eye coordination will be manipulated, if it's not already being done but we also have caught people cheating with aimbots and such embedded in mice.

A GREAT many sports are already only competitive if you cheat in some form.
There's a documentary called Icarus (2017) about the cycling doping scandal and to say it's widespread is an understatement and not just cycling.  Even if you think you have an idea how bad it is based on Lance Armstrong, you're way way off. Seriously, watch that film, it's really good, and scary what these people are doing, I'm amazed more haven't dropped dead from it.

Just a few examples...
2016 entire Russian Olympic Track and Field was banned for mass doping which was state funded.
2011 World Track and Field Championship found 30% of competitors were doping, external review says it's probably closer to 45%
List of cycling doping issues... INSANE
List of doping at olympics also insane.

This only scratches the surface.
I can pretty much guarantee you, anything endurance based (marathon, swimming, etc..) is overrun with doping and if there's no testing of winners, the winner was almost guaranteed to be doping. Even at the regional/state level.

Good arguments LLann,  let's just STOP playing sports, or even going outside.

We should just make 2 buildings,  1 where you live, and the other is Costco. Just a robo conveyor belt between the two, and distribution droids.

The matrix can't come soon enough.
