General Tso is Universal

General Tso is the best dish too (besides Chicken Egg Foo Young).

Ya'll haz to try Veggie Tso, just replaces the innards with cauliflower,  Just as good,

If you prefry the cauliflower, it will have a shrimp like texture, imagine that slathered in G-Tso sauce.

Warning: Old Man Rant ahead.

I suddenly get why the mechanical keyboard hobby has been sliding downhill from  a niche for reclusive geeks with a genuine love for tinkering with obscure technologies to some kind of weird trend-driven fashion parade.

I took the time to really look at the landing page of r/MechanicalKeyboards/ for the first time today. It's almost entirely made up of photo posts- people colour-matching their keyboards to their cars, their cartons of milk, or other random household objects.

In the past, I end up on Reddit because that's where specific search terms led me. So I've been looking at highly targeted, fairly high quality posts on subjects like 3D printed ergo cases, frankenswitch experimentation, and decent product reviews. But taking a step back, I've realised that I've missed the forest for the trees, and the forest is really about jpegs of garishly-decorated generic keyboards.

It happened without my noticing, but at some stage, I guess that keyboards stopped being a geek thing.

given that more and more jobs are on a computer, more and more peoples uses keyboards, and may try to find a way to express themselves with it, and also have a more ergonomic option than basic rubber domes or chiclet keyboards. make sense to me, as computer went from the geek thing to something mainstream have keyboards followed.

My upstairs neighbors waking me out of a dead sleep on 2 separate occasions last night. Once leaving their unbalanced washing machine jackhammering the wall for 20 mins at 5am and again when they dropped something so heavy it shook the walls of my room at 8am. Already a light sleeper and it takes me about an hour to fall asleep.
I want to murder them.

I'm struggling to adapt to being a 'morning person' as work dictates I must.  I'm at my most productive after dark but now weeknights I'm in bed before sundown and weekends not long after.  It would probably be more tolerable if work was going well but it isn't, making my main/only distraction from the pointlessness that is existence also negative.

I used to hate mornings. That changed after my depression got better and I learned how to make delicious cappuccinos. Espresso is another hobby as deep as keyboards you could get into.

It may have been at first but I love mornings now. Waking up after a good night of rest feels great with or without coffee.

You may be right and 'depression' is a factor, or maybe we can just agree that 5 o'clock is just not a good time to get up whatever your mental state may be :p

That is why so many people just shovel a new sale on top of an 8-year-old thread with 5 pages of obsolete replies.

It is an abominable system.
Cognitive distortions are patterns of thought, typically automatic and unconscious, that cause an inaccurate, negative view of situations, people, and/or events. These include things like jumping to conclusions; black-and-white thinking; negative mental filtering; overgeneralizing; mindreading (incorrectly believing we know what others are thinking, what their motives are); and emotional reasoning (believing that if we are feeling something, or if what we are thinking is associated with a strong emotion, it must be true).

Today I have mainly been bothered by my son throwing up the moment he got to nursery and therefore having to be home for two days.

As is often the way, he got home, slept the sofa for an hour, then ate a bunch of banana and toast and was his usual bouncy self from then on.

(Granted, I’m glad he’s not seriously ill or anything)

Samsung phones literally have no way to disable screen timeout. The max is only 10 minutes. What the actual **** Samsung engineers? There is actually no setting to disable this. None at all.

So forget watching a movie, being on a Zoom call, or using your phone for navigation because the screen will shut off and lock every 10 mins.

WHAT THE **** KIND OF DESIGN IS THAT????!!!!!!???!?!?!?!?!??! WHY? THERE'S NO WAY TO DISABLE IT?????

I will fight you Samsung engineer. I will fight you with fists.

seem quite strange, i do not have a Samsung but my phone screen sleep is set to 1 minute, but when videos are playing on it it does not turn the screen off until 1 minute after the end of the video, i would expect for it to be the same with videoconferencing. maybe it is in its save battery at any cost mode, where no app can prevent the screen to turn off, or maybe it is a Samsung thing

If you're trying to fit as much weight as possible in a box/container/truck it certainly is :p

I won't comment on the taste as I don't like watery food and unsurprisingly watermelon is; I would hope making it square didn't change this fundamental characteristic.

I would like to ride my bike more this summer, like I use to do in summers. I've had fewer things to ride to because of the thing, the weather hasn't always been nice.

About a month ago I took a ride, and then my right shoulder started hurting afterwards. So I was mostly one-armed for a few days, and for weeks afterwards using lefty-handed trackball and avoided biking for weeks.
Then last Sunday I finally got the opportunity to bike again, so I did take a long ride in nice parkland.
... And two days later my left wrist (the other arm) started aching, got inflamed and I've even got a fever now.
Goddamnit! And I'm typing this with one hand BTW...

I think I need to exercise my arms more, to build up muscle to prevent these problems in the future. Not just do biking and hiking.

Why does stuff you need to buy online always break on a Friday so you can't get a replacement anytime soon without supporting amazon.  Today: bike chain.  Got this one from the only remaining local shop and it's managed 1000 miles if it's lucky, so not keen on buying the same again.  Now waiting to waste money on a train ticket on a lovely afternoon...

I've just come home to find an e-mail which appears to be from the scariest person I've ever met.  Not a childhood bully, not a criminal acquaintance from a dodgy bar, not even the guy known for 'roid rage I met at the gym.  In fact it's a (previously) shy female who's years younger than me who I met at work.  It's been over 8 years since she didn't reply to my last e-mail which followed a classic exchange where we had may as well have been talking a different language, something common to all our text conversations.  She scares me because she's the only person who's been able to see through the happy facade I present to the world and brave enough to ask.  While I can look at everyone else objectively and accept they can do A and B better while I'm better at X Y and Z (yes I have a higher opinion of myself than pretty much anyone) she is just better than me, at everything.  She challenged me mentally and spiritually and is the only person other than my parents I would acknowledge as having influenced my life - at the very least if not for her I would still be a carnivore.

Just seeing her name in my inbox today raised my pulse and scrambled my brain.  After all this time I still feel the need to impress her, something I don't with anyone else.  I should just ignore it, forget her and move on, but I know I'm going to stew over this for a week or two before replying with more emotional depth than I would consider revealing to anyone else.

Some people have a muse who inspires them, I just have this lovely lady who scares the **** out of me.

Did I mention her name's changed?  That means she married and even if it's over (which I doubt) it's not a romantic opportunity as I know she wanted children.  If she escaped without any my depressed/aimless genes should not be passed on, if she didn't my depressed/aimless attitude would not make for a good replacement father.  She is well aware of this opinion.

You know,  Sometimes You buy a CPU first, and then wait for a discount on the Motherboard,  Sometimes you buy a GPU on black friday, and only 5 months later get the right matching CPU.

Nothing meshes perfectly at exactly the right time.  My suggestions are merely to say ,  in Lion King Scar's voice,  BE PREPARED...

I just have this lovely lady who scares the **** out of me.

Why now?

Respond with something mild and pleasant. She may want to set you up with her mousy cousin who just got out of a bad relationship.

I can't relate to the scenario (if I can't use it now my money would be better spent on something I can use - could get hit by a bus tomorrow) and I can't twist it into a metaphore either.

This is the proper response, though anyone needy enough to need a rebound following a bad relationship is unlikely to appreciate my bluntness.  The most mild response I can think of is 'why would I want to contact you after all this time' which clearly fails on the pleasant part...

It couldn't hurt to try if they're offering a demo, it's not like signing up for Atnt.

Oh, not at all. Life is a learning experience. Sometimes a refreshing change makes you realize possibilites that you ignored before.

Not following this either!

This is more good advice, though while I think it was supposed to suggest the needy lady have grown I twisted it to be about me.  As I have seen no happy relationships so am completely in denial of the possibility I could ever have one, which means I will continue to not look and will be right at the cost of my life remaining a pointless trudge to the grave.

I cannot focus on anything at work. I told a coworker I would do something around 9:30 AM, and I didn't actually do it until 1:45 PM. These past few months, I've kept telling myself focusing on work would be easier when I'm not in as much pain, but, even when I feel good, the computer screen and my eyes are like-poled magnets. The only way I was finally able to focus was blasting some boring music as white noise.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

Got up, started cycling to work.  A couple of miles in my mudguard started banging and for some reason I don't have my tool thing on me, usually do.  Turn round to waste more money on the train.  Buy ticket, wont llet me through.  Machine offered off peak ticket so me in an empty station took it - turns out it's peak.  Booth should open at 6 to sort refund just in time, 6:06 I give up and buy another ticket from the machine.

I've barely been up an hour and today has royally pissed me off.
