Blending in. This set isn’t about the keyboard grabbing all the attention on your desk, it’s a set you’d see in a remote cabin in the snowy mountains, the type a famous writer would flee to to finish the successor to their breakthrough debut, far away from all distractions. 2021 year of the abandonment of the mod/alpha segregation. Keycaps now mix freely regardless of the colour of their plastic. Stick that in your mod coloured pipe and smoke it.

The alignment for some of the legends is a bit weird - the num row keys etc look odd being centred while the rest of the set is left aligned.

Any plans to get some board renders made?

Not something I really thought I'd like at first but this is great!

The only thing I'd say is make sure the contrast between each key's legend and base color is around the same. It'll look very odd otherwise.

I really like the urban camo theme on this, but regarding overall arrangement, have you considered referencing digi-camo shapes more? its camo, but sort of too broken up for my taste? Kind of an oxymoron though.

I played with a bunch of pattern options. Tried making it as random as possible, but it didn't feel right. Ended up manually creating this pattern, making sure to balance colors (tricky with the space bar).

All I can see are weirdly aligned legends. Just look at R, yikes. Top centre was a bold choice, better make sure it’s bang on in the middle. Optical character tracking is a thing. Cool colours though.

Hmm can’t really unsee. It was meant to balance out the light space bar, but I can see how it might be a bit too much. Will look into tweaking the f-row colors.

Any misalignments are only in the renders. Will make sure the final product is perfectly aligned, key for key.

Yeah I couldn't unsee too, there are other stacks around but being the darker shades they just blend in. I'm imagining it would look way more jarring too on a 75% board where the F row is not offset. I think if you switch F6/F7 darker that'll do it. Thanks for noticing!

PBT has a nice roughness to them (which I why I prefer it over GMK/ABS). It's almost like really fine sanding paper.

PBT has a nice roughness to them (which I why I prefer it over GMK/ABS). It's almost like really fine sanding paper.

Not always, MDA for example are smooth. PBT MT3 have that fine sanding paper effect.

Texture should be comparable to ePBT Cool Kids, so it should have that rough feel to it.

Radio Silence will use RAL 7016 for its background color. The render I posted just above your comment (second render, right board) should be an accurate representation of what it'd look like.

Some quick updates:

Proud to announce we're bringing ePBT Camo to Latin America thanks to the lovely crew over at Latamkeys (they only recently launched their shop).
New MVKB website went live, including a dedicated page for Camo with a boatload of new (more realistic) renders.
Deskmat samples have been delivered, and they look great! Final product will have transparent edges. White pen added because I couldn't get the light in my office neutral.
More news soon: Salvun keycap design, GB date (really soon)

I think it would be nice if the IC post can be clean up a bit to remove older renders and post the new renders -- between the much darker keys in the old renders (which was a very attractive look for radio silence set, but that what it actually is), the new render, the kitting images, and the render on the desk mat, I would be surprised if I am the only one who is confused about what the actual coloring would be.

And it would be super helpful to post color swatch blocks next to the RAL colors so I can see all the colors next to each other on the same page (instead of searching for them individually and put 6 tabs next to each other).

For the kitting images -- while the aesthetic may take a hit, I would really appreciate if the key sizes can be included for non-1u keys <3
Also on that note -- do both base kits include 2 2u shift keys? It seems a bit unconventional to me (I kinda get it for the camo set since it is different color, but not sure if that many keyboards need 2 2u shifts).

First off: I appreciate you for calling this out.

I’ve been working behind the scenes on GB announcement prep, and a lot of cool (Camo-related) things also popped up which I’m all getting ready. I’ll clean up the IC though, you are correct that it looks a bit outdated. Kit renders etc was all planned for the GB thread, but I might as well add them here too. Hopefully have time for that before the end of the week.

Low key announcement: GB will take place June 1-July 1. More news soon!

Cleaned up the IC post (new renders, kit renders, color photos...), because... *drumroll* we have a GB date!!

ePBT Camo will be available from June 1 until July 1 (vendors in IC post). Will be announcing pricing mid-May since I'm still waiting on a couple of vendors to send me their prices, but it's an affordable set.

Deskmat samples have been delivered, and they look great! Final product will have transparent edges. White pen added because I couldn't get the light in my office neutral.

Final prototype of the split wrist rest by Digital Carpentry came in. Super happy with how it turned out, and happy to share it's really comfortable to use, and quite delightful to not be swapping wrist rests whenever I swap keyboards.

This wrist rest is already for sale on Digital Carpentry's website and should ship within a couple of weeks.

For the short spacebars

are the 1u 1.25u 1.75u 2u 2.25u 2.75u spaces , are they all convex (like 6.25u spacebar) or they are concave (like shift keys)?

I was referred here from the KBDFans Discord when I was trying to figure out the color of the D60 Camo case. The majority of the newest (to appear) images on the KBDfans page show a very dark case. It doesn't seem to correspond with any of the RAL colors used in the keycap set. There are a couple of older images on the D60 page that do seem matched to the keycaps. I'm guessing they're renders. Can someone assure me that the D60 case is, in fact, color matched to the RAL colors in the keycaps? I know that renders use lighting that can affect the hues and values of the items in the render—I'm not sure that's the issue. See attached:

I remember MVKB received a sample of the D60 lite case a couple months ago around December and posted photos of it comparing it to his RAL colors in his discord. If you're curious, you can check on his discord and see those photos.
