Playing on the theme from the Plaid and RoMac keyboard kits, this is a split keyboard design featuring only through hole soldering for the end-user. Layout options http://tinyurl.com/y4qxt9c9

Houndstooth Keyboard Kit (QMK Compatible)
All the parts you need to build the Houndstooth keyboard except switches and keycaps, compatible with MX and choc keyswitches.
-2x Houndstooth PCBs (white PCB , black silkscreen, gold plated pads)
-1x case set (choose basic, full, or high profile, see below for description)
-1x hardware set for case
-1x Pro Micro microcontroller with headers (comes preprogrammed with a standard keymap, no programming necessary to get started!)
-diodes, ribbon connector, and other necessary electronics components



Basic case:
This includes just the bottom plate, sufficient to support the board and protect the soldered components from touching your desk.
includes necessary screws and standoffs

Full case:
Basic case plus plate and midlayers to enclose the electronics.

High profile case:
Same as the case above, but includes bezel pieces.

Cases are available in Clear, Black, or Gray.

Houndstooth PCB
-Just a pair of PCBs, included in the kit above, this is for individual PCBs or extra PCBs, this does not include the bottom layer.

I do have some extras that I'll put up on my site FCFS probably in a week or so once I've caught up on some other backlogged work (also need more pro micros)

Important note!  If you have a high profile case, you will need to attach the pro micro flat on the board, do not put the plastic standoff on the header pins under the micro or the bezel parts won't fit over it! For the other case options this is not necessary.

tape the pro micro in place on top of the board, but don't cover all the pins


drop the pins in


tape over them


solder a couple of the pins that are exposed to hold the header in place


remove the tape and solder the rest of the top of the pins


clip the pins off on the back side


solder the back side

General assembly order:

Solder Pro Micro, reset switch, and Diodes

add stabilizers at this point as well if you are using them

put the spacer layer on, and drop in the hex standoffs, screw the round standoffs onto the threads under the PCB


place the plate on top and install the switches and 2x5 pin header, make sure the left header gap faces down, and the right half faces up



Solder in the switches, then install the bottom spacer over the standoffs, and then screw on the case bottom


last, install the case top screws and bezel layers for the high profile case.

The Pro micro is preprogrammed with this layout (it's missing some of the punctuation, sorry about that, so it'll need to be reflashed)

Yeah, it's compatible with any micro clone.  I have a few kits worth of parts on hand if you don't need a controller, PM me and I can bill you directly.
