There's been some discussion on massdrop regarding a proper Cyrillic F-row kit being added. Can you comment on likelihood and potential timing? Thanks.

Unless something has changed, Signature Plastic's molds for ALPS mount is terrible. They're too big to fit in Matias switch sliders (Not sure about vintages ALPS) unless the stems are filed down, and the stems themselves very easily snap off the keycaps; at least on DSA keycaps, that is.
I have SP ALPS throwback and they fit OG ALPS switches just fine, the only issue I hear is with the spacebar shrinking and being a tight fit.

Looks like there is an update to the ALPS MOQ, it was raised to 200. This is scary for us that were willing to pay the 180$ but I hope we can hit this goal.
With these kind of GBs do we usually see a consistent amount of people join throughout the GB or is it more of a inverse bell curve? I imagine the majority of people join in the first and last few days.

Well, the price significantly dropped to $130 ($148.39 total with tax & shipping for me now, down from just about $200 before) with the change to a 200 MOQ so there is that at least, but I concur, gonna be a tight MOQ to meet considering how niche ALPS are in our already niche hobby. Would've definitely preferred the $180 starting price with a 100 set MOQ option staying, but who knows this may be SP's decision to change the MOQ not T0mb3ry's.

RIP Alps Yuri :( Thank you for trying T0mb3ry.
Also thanks for posting the DXF file for your ALPS clueboard build, it made building mine so much easier. :)
I'm in for the alps, I'm hoping it hits 130$ but really I will be happy at 100 orders. You can press F12 and change any state to whatever you want in the page code and it will let you save it.
Kinda annoying that Drop still hasn't put in the option for APO address even though they offer APO shipping.
Hoping a bit of promotion helps this, the original r/mechanicalkeyboards post didn't really get much traction

I'm surprised it's going so slow... I was hoping for some price drops :) But I'm sure there will be a jump at the end.
I am not surprised too, after seeing the price they set.Yeah, the prices are steep. Also, for ortho I'm having to order a $40 spacekeys kit - for one 2u spacebar
+1 for the steep prices. I wanted SO BAD to get SA Yuri all in cyrillics and some child kits, but that plus DCS was above $500. It was hard, but I had to pass on SA.Same here, I'm in for the DCS ALPS mount set over SA to. While I absolutely love SA, I can't pass the opportunity to get in on a ALPS mount set in the Yuri colorway. Hell I would've jumped on the ALPS mount over SA even if it was DSA (my least favorite profile) instead of DCS. Although hopefully they'll let us know if the DCS set isn't gonna make MOQ before the drop closes, cause in that case I will switch my order over to a SA set.

I seriously doubt Drop will let you know anything before it closes. They have never done that in the past.
I'm also trying to figure out what to do and I think I'm going to go ahead and place an order for everything that I could possibly want and then also include something that has no chance to make MOQ or be produced (ergodox seems like a good candidate). By including something that won't hit MOQ then we should have the opportunity to edit the order before it is placed. I've never done this before but my understanding is that is how it should work. Also, I don't believe that you can add things to your order after it ends, only cancel. For example, if you were trying to cover a 96 key board, and numpad doesn't get made, you would have the opportunity to also cancel base + mods, but you couldn't at that point, switch over to the ALPS kit or switch to filling a 40%.

New to GBs... If nothing hits MOQ, no production happens?

Typically on (Mass)Drop, any kit that reaches its MOQ will be made for sure. If a kit doesn't reach its MOQ, Drop might decide not to make it. It's also possible they will decide to make it anyway. Drop will never charge you for a kit that isn't made.
If there is a kit in your order that isn't made, they will give you the option to a) keep the rest of your order, or b) cancel your entire order. Unfortunately they don't offer the option to revise your order.
Drop has always made cancel/keep decisions AFTER the group buy ends, so don't give up hope and cancel your order at the last minute. Even worse, not ordering at all makes that kit's chances look even worse, discouraging more from not ordering and snowballing to failure.

Oh i though it was possible to adjust the order. Oh well.
DCS Yuri kit needs to sell 65% of the MOQ in the next week :'(
Onboard! Beautiful color way, unique typeface. Completely worth it. :thumb:

Nah i think there is a good chance.
Everything goes into production except for UK ISO and Ergodox :D ;)
Out of curiosity, did Drop buy out the rest of the Alps sets? That's pretty wild and very surprising. I'm happy.

For some reason, I thought I saw DCS Yuri being MOQ with $180 at 100 units, while 200 units would've been a fat price drop. Awesome news Tomb3ry!
With someone attempting to bring back Blue Alps manufacturing perhaps this is step 1 towards a potential alps future.
Just finished up the board that's waiting for the alps set :)
They're orange alps but with blue click leaves, the orange sliders/housings were just in much better condition than my blues were.
The Alps kit uses MX style stabilizers iirc so you might need to change your stabilizers

If i see right he has Costar stabs installed - so he is on the safe side.

That is hot! I'm slowly sourcing parts for my Alps build. This has me excited. Also worth mentioning, here is the most recent update on Drop from their representative Kevin on April 6th...
"Latest update from Signature Plastics is that they expect to have everything done by the end of April, and that we should receive it at our warehouse in the first week of May. So, we're moving the expected timeline up to early/mid May"

I hope you all are doing well.
SP SA Yuri is currently in production and i just want to share a cell phone picture. This is the only picture i got so far and this looks very promising. Keep in mind that keys are not aligned properly and it might look that some letters are off but they aren't.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/oOM8qtG.jpg)
If i get more pictures then obviously i will share it here with you ;)
Me too - If anyone wants to sell their Alps set, please pm me.
Any update on ALPS Yuri?I'll post here infos/photos as soon as i get something available.
Drop says production is complete, any chance of a shot of DSC Yuri?
Wonderful, I'm so glad to see them look good :)
I was worried they'd have some flaw like the alps throwback set that didn't have homing keys, but they look perfect, can't wait! I hope I can buy a second set when they put the extras up.
The alphas look super crisp and the legend thickness and contrast is superb! The novelty key also looks great. Seems like the orange kinda gets lost on dark blue modifier alphas, though. Wouldn’t have expected that to be an issue. Maybe it’s lighting? I thought the “code” key was a blank until I zoomed in on mobile.
Can you post a picture of the bottom side on an Alps key? Here you are.

Good to know there are two molds for the stems.
Confirmation by Drop/SP/Tomb3ry would be awesome :D
I don't know if its needed to shave down the stems as i don't have an alps keyboard. Anyway its pretty obvious that the stems are different because DSA and DCS are different profiles.

Thanks again for running this, especially given you don't have an alps board! Are you at least considering getting one now you have the set?

I need definitely an alps board in the future but i am not sure about switches yet as alps is still mystery for me. I tested few alps switches on meetups and i am not really sure on those. Tho alps browns are extreme bump switches and compared to holy pandas then - well holy pandas do smoke nervously in the corner.Show Image(https://media0.giphy.com/media/9A1riEgpUOoZI5cgwA/giphy.gif?cid=ecf05e4763a94d2f9d7c5a3638cb85ac4ad01d8044898e26&rid=giphy.gif)
Note: don't smoke kids its unhealthy.
Anyway I know only that it will be linear alps switch - as alps (as far as i know) was developed as linear switch and i am very strict in this case. I don't like artificial bumps and clicks, which do not contribute anything to the actual switch functionality. If i want bumps - i take Topre keyboard. If i want clicks - i take IBM Model F or beamspring (those are expensive :'( ). Cherry MX and obviously Alps are only true for me if linear.
Its all subjective matter but i am here more on the historical and technical side. If you like bumpy or clicky mx switches - well i am glad those exist and people can enjoy those.
Just for clarification. Here you can see all rows of DCS alps bottoms and DCS mx (row 1 only) bottom next to it. As you can see each row requires its own bottom mold and a bottom mold from DSA profile would not be compatible with DCS profile - because DSA is uniform across all rows where DCS has 4 different rows and each row has its specific angle.
I believe he is talking about the DSA light cycle Alps keycaps. It ran in both MX and Alps (I own them both). The first few runs of Alps caps (Alpine Winter, Light Cycle) had stems that were extremely tight on some Alps switches, especially Matias. In addition, the stems tore off very easily when trying to remove the keycap because the fit was so tight. In order to combat this problem, people shaved down the keycap stem on its corners. It was a pain in the ass, but it worked. Unfortunately, some of my Light Cycle stems are very loose. I can lift several caps off without a keycap puller. I have been this wasn't as much of an issue on older, original Alps switches.
DCS Alps throwback used a different stem design from Alpine Winter and Light Cycle.
You can read about it here:

Just want to show that the stem is shorter which lets me asume this is the 1Z stem.

Thanks, appreciated! Is it really at the level where no (famous) custom TKL comes with these Alps plates with MX stabs cutouts or at least the design file published?
Then no wonder these -anyway very few- Alps sets struggle to reach MOQ.
I did both in one plate, this'll work fine with the LFK-TKL PCB https://www.lfkeyboards.com/lfk-tkl/ and aliexpress case https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32617566709.html (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32617566709.html)
I've had my plates fabricated by laserboost on 1.5mm brushed steel, that's worked well for me.
If we are sharing plate files here is my FC660 alps plate that fits with the FC660 aluminum case and Clueboard 66% PCB.
All credit goes to Kiwi on discord for doing the cad work.
Is there a way to join the group buy or buy one of these sets somehow?

Ha. That took me way too long to figure out which keycap goes where. It's been a long time since I had to look at a photo to get it right. :thumb: This is the most accurate I could get for color. Keep in mind this is natural shaded light. There is a window to my left and it's 5:00pm. The desk mat is a cool white and black. Colors are really nice. I wish the orange popped more on the dark blue, but overall, the aesthetic is quite lovely.

One thing I forgot about is how sharp the space keys are on the thumbs. I spent a few minutes with a file on the front edges to make them a bit more comfortable. For some reason i thought SP had molds for convex space keys. Wishful thinking perhaps? :)
Thanks for another awesome set!
Yeah, getting new mold for spacebars in these specific sizes is wishful thinking right now. Thing is - you need two different sizes and that would require two new molds which will then rise the price for those spacebars significantly.
Looking at the photo, i do think it would be better to polish those filed out edges and thus remove rough surface left from filing.
This is the most accurate I could get for color.
absolutely gorgeous set. delighted by how it turned out. i am curious though about one thing in particular: with SP SA is it normal to have caps with so many (for my lack of a better term) "machine marks"? a lot of my modifier keys have "scratches", ones that you can see only at a certain angle. my r3 pipe key for example has two big scratches. i am hopeful with time that they will go away after the shine develops, but even then it's not a big deal. i am just curious if it's normal.

Those markings are left from injection process and you basically see the plastic flow during that process. They are visible because of the natural semi matte surface. If the caps had texture like Cherry or DCS profile then those markings would not be visible. Once the caps start to shine they should become invisible.
Noticed that the "? /" is a little odd.

Indeed its odd. Tho i did not noticed it but the "' ` symbols which were way too bold for the rest of the symbols. Those keys should have been replaced and be inline style-wise with other symbols.

Extras are up now, have nabbed full cyrillics and an alps set for a mate and novelties for myself :)

Best comment on this entire thread :D
The render were such a bright, beautiful blue with gorgeous red legends. In reality, the keys are dull-ish, and while the blue is tolerable, the legends are in reality kind of a gross, muddy orange. Considering sending them back... I really hate orange :-(
I think i've figured out the issue. All they need to do is add the supports around the stem to keep it from going in too deep to the switch. Those supports are there on the other stabilized keys. If you press the cap all the way into the switch, it doesn't work. But if you carefully put it on and don't press down all the way it works much better.

I thought you guys might get a kick out of this, and didn't know where to post this. It's a "Redragon K596 Vishnu" That i customized quite a bit. Puttied in the membrane switch holes on the top of the case (5 macros, and some media buttons) that still leaves me the 5 macro mech switches and the volume knob. Put some "sorbathane" on the bottom of the case, and some foam between the pcb and plate. Painted the case, including the cool pin striping (makes it faster). And got a custom, matching, desk mat, from "inked gaming" ( i still have the pic i mocked up for them to use for the mat, if anyone wants it) it's a illustrated, pin-up, cosmonaut girl.. I was very impressed with the job they did on the mat, and will be getting more from them for future keyboard builds.
Problems: The kahli navy blue switches would not fit into the pcb. The two metal pins seemed to be both too thick, and slightly too long on one pin. But, i fuc.. (i didn't read the rules, are we allowed to say fun words, or are the admins superstitious?) ..ing loved those switches, and managed to get them to work by filing them down... Took a LONG time..
Also, i ordered the Alps key-caps for the alpha-numeric keys,.... NOT knowing they were a different stem... Then proceed to order alp SWITCHES after the keys arrived, and i then found out, alp switches don't fit in MX plate/pcbs... So i had the bright (it wasn't very bright) idea to just break off the alp stems and glue on some MX ones that i broke off from the keys that came with the keyboard.. It was a nightmare trying to get all those keys positioned correctly.
Next up, a skeletor or Synthwave build.
Ans the SA profile is SO much better then cherry.. Thicker, more old school fibe to me, i love it.
