In July 2021, this board will be available for purchase on Keychrons' official website.
We're doing this IC to get some final feedback and interest on the board before it goes into production.

Informations
The first prototypes have arrived and are fully functional; this will be an unlimited run of the board, and real-life photos of the boards will be available later.
Because we want to change the size of the board on a regular basis (the next board will be a 65% board), this will be time-limited, but if more specific information becomes available, I will update this post.

Edit1 on Q1:
We postponed the pre-order release date to the end of July, and the shipping date to late August to implement all changes.
Pre-Order will be available at the end of July. Shipment is set for late August to match all the feedback we got!

!!!PRICE ANNOUNCEMENT & CHANGE!!!
Barebone 149USD
Fully assembled with double shot ABS keycaps and switches 169USD

That's entirely my fault; I simply messed up the exchange rate and just put 150Ä as 150USD. We've now agreed to reduce the price Keychron originally requested for the fully assembled from 179USD to 169USD bringing the fully assembled price closer to the original price I called out.
I'm really sorry for that and I know when people are angry about it but it was a honest mistake.

I've seen updates for this project coming through on social media. I'm pretty keen to get my hands on one of these.

By "normal gaterons", assuming that's Red/Brown/Blue? If so, any consideration to Yellow?

- Poly and fr4 plate option would be nice.

- For sure barebone kits

- Make sure a variety of screw in stab brands work, so modification isnít needed.

- more colors than black/white/grey.

- instantly buying and review one when available.

I dont like the badge design or the way its protruding out. It would have looked way better if it was flush with the case. I dont think its too hard to achieve though.

Its just a place holder cause u can take it out and insert a switch in the hotswap socket underneath the badge or use the other pcb option with a pre solderd knob.

Two things I would suggest (mostly from my experience with the GMMK):

- go with 2x 1.5U keys on the bottom right instead of 3x 1U keys - much better compatability
- make sure most popular stabilizer brands work; gmk screw-in / durock

Yeah I will be getting one for sure, I would suggest a barebones kit for sure as a lot of the hobbyists have their own switches and keycaps. I would get a barebones lol so I am biased here. Other than that, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

Watching this for sure. Was slightly disappointed that the GMMK Pro had a uhh mount with gaskets and bungled QMK support. Via out of the box is huge! K2 was my gateway into this world so Iím excited for this project!

Are those regular poron gaskets? They look really compressible, but I'm concerned that it will at some point remain permanently compressed without any spring back after using it for a while, or just the natural weight of the plate.

Since this is available so soon I'm not sure if you want this kind of feedback, but:

This has the same layout as the GMMK Pro, but with one fewer key. So I can have a Home, but not an End. I don't see the point in this. It might be worth it if this was a notably different layout, but as it is I'm just left without an End key for no reason.

One positive over the GMMK: no side lighting. Not a huge thing, since you can just turn the side lighting off, but the cleaner look is nice.

I agree with the person above who says you should go with two 1.5u mods on the right, rather than three 1u mods. It's nice to maintain keycap compatibility. (This is not contradiction to my first point, the mods are redundant.)

Otherwise, this is really nice. Especially if the VIA support isn't half-assed. (I'm sure it won't be, that's a dig at Glorious.)

The K2 was my entry point too. I still use it almost daily even though I have bought others. I think recently other budget brands had caught up and in some cases, overtaken Keychron in this market. I like that theyíre trying to innovate and get into the higher end of budget boards.

K6 was my second mechanical keyboard and while I loved it, it eventually had to sell it because I got deeper into the hobby but I was able to customize it to my hearts content. You can say it was my first ever hobbyist board. Cant wait for a better 65% coming from you guys. GLWIC

This looks good so far! K6 was my entry into the hobby, and while I've certainly tried many other (and significantly more expensive) boards, would love to see Keychron attempt a more premium board.

I also agree though that 1.5u on the right side of the bottom row would be better for compatibility and would be curious to hear what materials the gaskets are.
Title: Re: [IC] Keychron Q1
Post by: elisyan on Sat, 19 June 2021, 20:37:25
I'm not the type of audience to buy this board but I have friends/family/coworkers who have purchased similar keyboards to gain entry into the hobby.

I hope to see gateron yellows offered as an option since they are a pretty popular pick amongst the community out of the more common gateron switches.

I am a bit concerned about how firm the typing experience will be with so much foam and so many gaskets. Kind of seems like it defeats the purpose. It is probably a good idea to test if those side gaskets are even needed. In my experience smaller keyboards with side gaskets just makes everything too stiff. Perhaps having a no foam option with no side gaskets could bring the cost down even more, and the foam can be an add-on for those who want the foam stack typing sound or the stiffness that comes with it.

C'mon dude, your gasket design is bad and your board is basically just a greatest hits of what has been popular in the last year or two.  This feels like a low effort cash grab.

None of the things wrong with the design would require increasing the price.  In my opinion we should have higher expectations for an actual OEM.

That's my feel as well. If done right this could be a really great gateway into the more custom scene. As long as the build quality is alright and people aren't being straight up ripped off, surely this kind of board at a budget price could only be a positive? Accessibility options into a community like this is a great thing.

You haven't actually listed anything wrong with the design and you can't articulate any of your issues. You make broad statements about them needing to do research and how people should have higher expectations. These are all vague. If you have reasonable suggestions, be specific about them.

No.  I am not going to do their homework for them.  There are countless examples of how to properly implement a gasket mount. This is bare minimum level research imo. We should not be encouraging OEMs to come in here with half baked products and expect the community to fix it for them so that they can make money.

I don't think the side tabs on the switch plate is necessary? Besides the ID80 Crystal, I haven't seen any 75% keyboards implement gasket mounting that way.

I have loved my Hotswap Keychron K6 as my gateway into mechanical keyboards. People just need to know what to expect. At this price point and by the looks of it, itís highly unlikely that the plate, PCB, case design, or gasket design will result in a great feeling and sounding board, thatís normal and to be expected.

Itís great to have another entry level keyboard option.

Just donít look at a feature list and think thatís what makes a high end custom keyboard.

P.S. Buying a hotswap Keychron for your spouse and putting NK Creams or Gateron Ink Black v2s for them to break in is the real big brain move.

This is essentially a clone of the GMMK Pro which was a ripoff of the Sat75, only it's $50 more. For what reason should anyone buy this over a GMMK Pro?

? The GMMK Pro is $170, barebones. This is $150, with switches and keycaps.

Ah, I see where you're making your mistake. The GMMK Pro is currently sold out, and you can reserve one for $100. But you need to pay another $70 + shipping eventually.

As for your final point: what's the difference between a "buzzword laden cash grab" and "selling a product"? I don't understand this complaint at all. Another guy said the same thing, and it just doesn't make any sense to me. The GMMK Pro is popular right now for offering something that people want at a price which was previously unattainable. Especially for a board "in stock." (All right, maybe not. But at least it's not a group buy.) Keychron comes along and offers something even better and... that's a cash grab?

...

Well, it's better if you ignore the lack of an End key. Do other people not use that? I use it all the time. I just used it, just now. I would still get the GMMK.

Certainly nice to see Keychron branching into the enthusiast market considering that my first real mechanical keyboard was a Keychron K2 :)

May be a little too late, but would suggest the following:

- If plate flex is an intended part of the design, would suggest removing the side tabs
- The front height of 21.6mm is on the high side, especially in the enthusiast market where most can go as low as 17mm. The high front height is an issue that has plagued existing Keychrons as well, so I feel that this should not be ignored.
- Assuming the layout is fixed, keys on the right of space bar should be 1.5u/1.5u. 1u mods are less preferred.
- Angle at 5.2 degrees seems on the low side.

Other than that, I think this can be a really good option for a fully assembled off the shelf option!

This is a cash grab because they come in less than two month before production and pretend they will implement feedback from the community. A solo designer can't implement changes and test it out on proto in less than two months, do you think a company could manage that faster? If you like the board go ahead and buy it, but all you get is just another keychron keyboard.

they have actually been implementing feedback from their facebook group page for about a month to 2 months and decided to get more feedback from other sources.

They have changed several things so far to include the rotary encoder, the bezels on the case, colors and the brass weight.

Keychron 100% has been implementing feedback.

Thank you, as I already explained:
Yes this IC is pretty short, because Keychron itself have no clue about reddit or GH and asked me to help them out to push it out here. Thats why this "IC" is that close to the release. But even now I made a list with all suggested changes and will try to bring them trough before we will release.

Color me intrigued. Honestly, the current boards of Keychron have underwhelming quality, especially with their "alu" version. This seems like a nice change of pace. I hope you go with ARM chips instead of ATMega32U4, because some of us (me) need that extra flash for ungodly number of layers. Otherwise, a lot is going to depend on the QC.

Lose the badge. Align the arrow keys with the rest of the bottom row.

they have actually been implementing feedback from their facebook group page for about a month to 2 months and decided to get more feedback from other sources.

So are they open to making some changes to layout?  If not, then technically its not really an IC, as traditionally, IC is more about getting feedback and making some changes based on feedback.  Otherwise, its just an announcement.

That being said, I am probably going to check it out.  Hopefully they gave the gaskets some room so its not so pre-compressed by the case.  Also hope they will offer other softer plate materials.

Well layout is preference, but I might as well add that for me the most aesthetic layout is similar to the evolv where u keep the bezels equal all around the arrows (this means using a smaller shift)

I also prefer the 4 key cluster that evolv/gmmk pro uses.

The badge is awful, I would much prefer an extra key in a non rotary encoder version. Make the badge as invisible as possible.
That means I have to get the rotary encoder version.
What options are there for the encoder? Are you planning for encoder knobs matching the case colour?

Based on your previous designs, please avoid any type of branding on the case and on the weights.

Transparent/milky plate option for rgb shine through would be good.

Big thumbs up for hot swap ISO option.

Call me a cynic but I'd be surprised if the design changes in any sort of meaningful way prior to production, regardless of feedback to this 'IC'

You have the option do ditch the badge and use a key. The badge is only there to cover an optional key socket, that if you prefer can use as a key.

This is not reasonable at all. I like the design quite a bit, and the innovation is in the price point. There's only one other board competing with this one.

To be fair, that doesn't count as innovation. That's just taking advantage of economies of scale.

I would personally prefer there be 4 keys instead of 3 keys in that cluster of navigation keys above the arrow keys. Such as Home, Page Up, Page Down, End, rather than just Home, Page Up, Page Down. Borrowing the layout of the GMMK Pro. I wouldn't want to just reprogram where Del is currently, as I would also want that to be Del or PrntScrn or similar.

Because of the overwhelming response here and on Reddit, we've decided to push back the pre-order release date to the end of July, and the shipping date to late August. All other changes will be labeled "Edit1" at the bottom of the IC.

Agreed on aligning the arrow keys with the rest of the keys, designs with these misaligned arrows look awful.

I personally don't mind if the knob is a knob or an "extra" key, as long as that spot has more function than having a useless badge...

Since this is technically an IC, I would definitely hop on the pre-order if it has reliable Bluetooth (am using modded K6 now and the Bluetooth is quite good), I know its not exactly friendly with QMK/VIA but I actually would prefer Bluetooth over that (please don't flame me).

Yeah bluetooth will be the next step but there is already a community fix to make K6 working with qmk.

This looks promising.... hopefully your team will do good with it comes to the acoustic department of this keyboard.
I suggest to use LEGIT PORON foams not a flimsy foam you can see in gmmk pro.
Please use thick set of gaskets and try to incorporate cut lines in the pcb for more flex

if these things will be seen in this keyboard it will be epic for it's price... I will definitely get one

Since chips are still a Problem the first batch will be kinda limited since all chips are gone and after that Keychron announced to me to increase the price about 10USD to be able to buy more chips and when chip shortage is not a problem anymore to lower it again as long this happens meanwhile Q1 is live.

Review Units should be shipped at the 10th of July so reviewers have about 2 1/2 weeks to review it before the pre order starts. I will publish a document with each reviewer and link to all videos when this is available

edit: The pic shows USB C to C but for customers it will be A to C

If we talk about small changes yes there is enough time, but if there is a huge change this would be very hard to do. We did our best in the last 7 months do design it at best efforts. If there are any changes that would have a huge impact we have to see if we delay the Q1 or just sell it as it is and take all changes into the Q2

None of the things wrong with the design would require increasing the price.  In my opinion we should have higher expectations for an actual OEM.

Just pure toxicty  :D

Gotcha, so the kit (169USD) includes Keychron produced stabs that are similar to GMK?

What about the barebones kit?

Also is there any news about configurable layouts, or will the hotswap PCB only support the layout shown in the renders? A lot of people in the community enjoy options like split space and split backspace so these are nice to have, even if it required a solder PCB.

Also is there any news about configurable layouts, or will the hotswap PCB only support the layout shown in the renders? A lot of people in the community enjoy options like split space and split backspace so these are nice to have, even if it required a solder PCB.

Same for barebone and its hotswap only, so only the shown layout is supported atm. Keychron thinks about adding a solder PCB with all options later.

Thanks for clearing that up. Plenty of other hotswap boards have multiple layout support so that's why I had to ask.

I'll be waiting until there's some more layout options before jumping on board.

Yeah sure but we will take this as feedback for the Q2 so that we probably have multiple layout support on hotswap PCBs there too.

And I would always suggest to wait for reviews the ones for Q1 will hopefully be online before pre order starts. Will make a post linked to each review about it.

Thanks for the feedback

From my understanding is each variation of the Q keyboard will be run separately. So Q1 first, than Q2 etc etc. They plan to do multiple layouts. However, once they move on to the different layout the layout before will not be available. At least that's how I understand the explanation.

I think they will keep selling them side-by-side? Like the current K series, all of which you can buy most of the time (except for intermittent stock issues).

If they stop selling the Q1 the moment they start selling the Q2 it'll be kinda sad imo, I might not buy the Q1 when it launch, but if it'll have positive reviews then I might consider it. And then boom, Q1 is out, only option is Q2 which I probably wouldn't buy because I'm interested in it mostly because I was debating on buying GMMK Pro but it turned out pretty incomplete so...

I realize I'm late, but:
- I like that its VIA and QMK compatible.
- I LOVE the rotary encoder, I hope you have some nice knob options.
- I am only interested in a bare bones kit.
- I would prefer 2 1.5u but its not a deal breaker.
- I hope keycron looks at all the things the GMMK Pro got wrong and they fix them.
- Alu is fine, but I would prefer a polycarbonate bottom for the RGB puke.

I am interested in getting a hot swap board, and was going to get the GMMK Pro, but it just seems like they cut every corner with that one when it comes to QC.

I really like that a company is producing an affordable board with a decent layout.  Many things in the keyboard world are priced crazy high, and I canít recommend anything, because its $300+, or its out of stock, or the GB ended and now you cant get it.  Most normal people are not going to spend that much for a keyboard.

Title: Re: [IC] Keychron Q1

We had a problem where there was a chance that the PCB and Plate would separate from each other due to too much flex and room to move, so we had to fix that and move on to some other small issues, so the board will be postponed for a month so it will be pre-orderedable in late August, with shipping in late September. Before pre-ordering, reviews, including a sound test, will be available. I've temporarily halted the shipment of review units because correcting the pcb/plate issue may result in a different sound from the board itself, and I want potential customers to see exactly what they'll get in a review rather than something that will change some things later.

I am typing this on a wireless Keychron board. I own two, sold one.
I did some DIY modifications, paint and padding the bottom, changing switches and keycaps, and it's ok.
The standard K boards sold on the website do not really consider any of this enthusiast audience preferences in terms of sound and feel, and they are not meant to.
So i don't think it's comparable to what the Q1 will be.

Have to agree with previous feedback - the arrows need to be aligned with the rest of the board, the nav cluster should include more keys instead of some unnecessary blocking and a badge for no discernable reason, and I just hope like hell it has enough room underneath the pcb, otherwise it doesn't matter how many flex cuts and how flexible a material your plate and gasket is made of, it's just going to be typing on top of a foam dampener.

QMK can handle bluetooth connections fine with certain chips.
The battery life is just not really that great since QMKs battery management is kinda ass.
Just VIA won't work with bluetooth.

Looks promising imo. Digging the rotary encoder, though the way the badge sticks up out of the board is a bit strange to me. I didn't hate my experience with the GMMK Pro and am quite content with my board now that I'm done building in it, but I do hope this project has taken note to avoid making the same mistakes they did. I guess we'll see.

I've only owned 1 Keychron product so far. Bought a C1 a few months ago and have had absolutely 0 QC concerns. In fact I was pretty blown away at the quality given the price (it's like $50 or something silly like that). Yes it's plastic, but does not feel cheap to me, coming from a custom wood/brass 65%. If I have one gripe, it would be that some of the hotswap sockets (yes it's hotswap for $50!) are a little tight, but not so tight that I was worried about anything breaking.

I would expect that with the Q1 there is more to go wrong, so that's something to consider, but I'm not personally anxious based on my experience with the C1 so far.
Title: Re: [IC] Keychron Q1
Post by: cheswick on Tue, 27 July 2021, 14:14:27
Yes Keychron has had some QC issues in the past and support has not been what you would expect either. I have worked hard over the last 2 years to give every customer the support they want and deserve and have started a Reddit help thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comments/ll12r0/reddit_support_20/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comments/ll12r0/reddit_support_20/)where I have been able to give about 600 customers the solution they wanted. So this project will continue from me for Q1. The problem with the support is simply what I like to call "Western standards" I had a conversation about this with Keychron and we will gradually improve the support and I personally will work on it.

For all other topics I have written a FAQ in Discord and post updates there. So if you have any questions feel free to link me there and I will answer all questions.

Thank you very much for the great feedback and now I'm just waiting for the review boards, which will be sent out in the middle of August to the reviewers. Bigger changes will find place in Q2, smaller changes we still want to enforce in Q1.

Brass weight, knob and e-white will not be available at release and will be offered afterwards. There is no exact timeline yet, but everything should happen asap.

And what elmo said correctly, qmk could be done with bluetooth support (zmk) but VIA isnt supported and thats what keychronis trying to figure out now.

Thanks for all that feedback!

very exciting .. i don't have unlimited budget but like to try a diff layout.. so i am very happy that Keychron is doing this i did like the GMMK board but it had lot's of things that were less good..
Seems that this is a better board..
i will still need to read all the comments just wanted to add that i'm all in for the 3x1u bottom.. i have it on my tada's i have it on my two NK65 alu..
in short keycaps with 3*1u are not difficult to get and it leaves me with the fn and ctrl key on the right side to use as layer switching keys.. i like that..

And i really really like that i can opt out of the useless badge and have a knob there how cool is that..
i will keep a close eye on this board. one question do you think there will be any EU vendors for this board ???
Thanks again there are does of us that do appreciate your effort of communicating via Geekhack to Keychron.. forget about all the elitist folks that think this is just a place for people that can spend several hundred $$ and pay a couple hundred $$ just on custom fees like it's nothing..

!!!PRICE ANNOUNCEMENT & CHANGE!!!
Barebone 139USD
Fully assembled with double shot ABS keycaps and switches 169USD

That's entirely my fault; I simply messed up the exchange rate and just put 150Ä as 150USD. We've now agreed to reduce the price Keychron originally requested for the barebone from 150USD to 139USD, and for the fully assembled from 179USD to 169USD bringing the fully assembled price closer to the original price I called out.
I'm really sorry for that and I know when people are angry about it but it was a honest mistake.

Idk if I just forgot to update it here but I did in the discord and on facebook. We had to decide if we wanna have enough chips in stock and support qmk/via trough all batches, thats why keychron overpaid on a lot of chips trough the chip shortage we have since corona. Thats where the price raise was, website is listed as 149USD for barebone and 159USD as "original price" if chips wont increase in price the 149USD will stay even after pre order ended.

Since Keychrons own soundtest wasnt good, cause of weird sound filters and not known equipment Andy V Nguyen had the permission to record and pre release a soundtest including mods on the Q1 you will find it here:

Yes it sounds very hollow unmodded but check out the latest parts with papertower/foam + tape mod.
On his feedback Keychron will provide more thicker foam as an free extra in each Q1 box so people can foamed it more if they want. Flex even with an alu plate is pretty good imo. So if you will go witha n FR4/PC plate u can get more flex meanwhile foaming more to get a better soundprofile.
After we gather all feedbacks on the reviews at the 24.08.2021 we will sit down and check what we can do better for future boards like the Q2 and will see to get progress done. Already thank you to everyone who followed on this journey and hopefully we will figure everything out.

i really really appreciate the sound test .. i am not exaggerating when i say it's one if not the best sound test i have ever seen.. showing so many options giving a nice overview ... :thumb:

i was hesitant to say this because i did not want to discourage companies from doing these type of sound tests in the future..
But i found the sound to be less then desirable to my ears.. in comparison or as reference this is a sound i would like to hear..
check out the Geon Frog TKL Andy V Nguyen

i would like the Keychron PCB in that board hahah.. please do a pcb that fits that board.. because i don't know of many RGB pcb's with via/gmk for a tkl hahah

Having said all that the last sound test sounds  a bit better not a Geon Frog level better.. and i would be willing to pay a bit more for a Keychron that comes closer to the Frog TKL..
As i need to import the Keychron Q1 to The Netherlands i need to add 21% + at least 11% customs fees over the total price that's including the shipping fees..
Making this board more expensive and thus i need to be a bit more critical.. if there were EU vendors that sell if for the same price.. it would be an instant buy and well worth the modding or any sound issues.. as it's a nice package with the knob..

one question : on their site i see i switch to go from apple to win mode  .. i don't understand this switch if it's a via/qmk board why does one need this switch?
and if it is still going to be there .. will it programmable say for instance to turn of the lighting ??

On his feedback Keychron will provide more thicker foam as an free extra in each Q1 box so people can foamed it more if they want.

So does this come with the pre-order batch? or later batches?

i really really appreciate the sound test .. i am not exaggerating when i say it's one if not the best sound test i have ever seen.. showing so many options giving a nice overview ... :thumb:

i was hesitant to say this because i did not want to discourage companies from doing these type of sound tests in the future..

First thanks for the feedback.
There are no customs for EU people, keychron cleares them on their own in poland/Belgium.
Candykeys will probably get some afaik but I orderd multiple keychron boards on my own and never had to pay the VAT for germany I paid the 99USD for the board + Shipping thats it.
The switch will allow u to swap physically between layers so with QMK/VIA u have 4 layers overall, this switch splits it into 2x 2 layers so Switch on position 1 is Layer 1 and from layer 1 u can go into layer 2 by keybind.
Switch on Position 2 is layer 3 and u can go into layer 4 by keybind. Hope you got what I was trying to explain if not maybe this photo will explain it: https://imgur.com/a/QSfWteq

Already the first Q1 will have the extra foam in the box

FWIW: Eloquentclicks already lists the keyboard on their site (https://www.eloquentclicks.com/product/ic-keychron-q1-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard/), and Iím sure they wonít be the only EU distributors that sell it.

So the switch just changes what the default layer is? Can you still use the other two layers, or are you limited to just two at a time (in any given mode)?

I have to test it myself when my board is here (its in shipping for close to a month now cause it got send back to china cause of any weird problems but others went trough so unlucky me) But for my understanding ur limited to 2 at a time but I will test this and see if there is a workaround.

When is the actual embargo lift? Will we be able to check some reviews before the official launch time?

So... The strength of this keyboard seems to be in it's value for the price. However, it seems that the shipping, at least for the barebone version, is $30 to the United States. That means $180 for the barebone. I'm not sure if that was intended, but $180 does not seem to be a good deal anymore at least in the US. I was ready to buy it as soon as it kit was released, but I kinda feel backstabbed by the rather absurd shipping fee. Very unfortunate.

Thats what shipping cost for a 2KG monster which gets send out of china :D
You can check local proxys if one of them retails the Q1 which will be around october: https://www.keychron.com/pages/where-to-buy?fbclid=IwAR3KDHfjn08s6QXNv1hFKL_td5bONkTecNfSDh4VLavFIgm5oD-WMenCkiQ

But keychron is already paying part of the shipping fees DHL isnt cheap

This ain't Amazon, international shipping isn't cheap. $30 is already an incredibly respectable fee if it's shipped from China. I'm assuming you've never bought boards from non-US vendors before?

Yes, most people are unaware of anything other than free Amazon shipping.
This board, including packaging, weighs 2kg, and VAT has already been calculated for EU, US, and UK shipping.

Is there any word on whether or not the Q1 will be able to fit MT3 profile keycaps? Ordinarily, I would assume there would be no issue, but Iíve read that some boards canít quite fit them, and from the pictures and vids Iíve seen, the inner edge of the chassis seems prety close to the keycaps.

I can try that I have dev/tty mt3 here

edit: Tested mods and they fitted and worked without a problem

Awesome! Thanks for testing that. I recently fell in love with the MT3 profile keys and am looking forward to outfitting the Q1 with them.

I have the same ones on another keychron keyboard, but these are the pbt caps. The ABS caps are actually too wide and will get stuck on the key stroke, so be careful with that. They might be too wide for the Q1 as well.

Could maybe be a problem since other Keychron boards are build with north facing leds as far as I know?

Maybe, but it's specifically with the MT3 ABS key caps, as the MT3 pbt don't have this problem.

If anyone is still unsure about where they can purchase in Oceania, we're also proud to partner with Keychron to be bringing these in locally.

You can preorder the board and accessories here https://www.switchkeys.com.au/collections/keychron
