This seems like a distressing cream/milk-to-coffee ratioLook at the colored the espresso foam. If you make the alphas that color, I’m in
That would somewhat match the accent. Maybe a darker caramel tone might be nice. IMO the alphas are nice since they're meant to emulate the cream/milk.
0/10 not a rerun of DCS coffeeYea I was hoping for that. Maybe slightly lighter than the coffee set because it was pretty dark, but not this light. Oh well.

DCS Coffee House, show some respect!:)
I actually really like this new colorway, notwithstanding the obvious parallels.
Looks great. I like the lighter alphas. It's what sets it apart from the other coffee sets. Please don't darken the alphas. I'm in as it is.

Have you considerd to change the modifiers color to more brown?

omg I love you
Is it possible to add R3 and R4 PgUp and PgDn, respectively?
v similar to a lot of sets
not a bad thing, but yea
consider using GMK colors for the alphas and mods bases as theyre super close to existing ones. less issues there with matching
There seems to be a |\ 1u R4 black key in one of the renders but I can't see it in the black set?
I'd prefer more brown on the mods, as I think we're about to play the same game GMK Phantom did with purple. I'd probably like the color on the enter key to be the alphas. But if I made the set, it would probably be GMK Chocolatier mods and Zambumon's GMK tactical set alphas...and I can do that on my own anyways. Shoot your shot.

GMK Phantom has no problems IRL which is what most people care about anyways.

Great catch - I will need to update this. The render is not correct. Currently proposed kits would only support full ISO with the white alphas. I wanted to have a board show the dark alphas kit as well as ISO - I shouldn't have combined the two.

I have removed the current Jane render since it showed this incorrectly and will have it updated.

If the dark alphas support for ISO is requested enough and/or doesn't affect the kit's price, I'd love to have it included for my ISO brothers and sisters that want the dark version =) - stay tuned and thanks for the support!

That's a shame as I would have loved to be able to use the black kit with ISO too! Definitely in for a base kit and Sugar anyway.
I'm a big fan of coffee, this as well! Very much looking forward to updates :thumb:
This is nice, but all I can see is Monochrome in the renders. Is it possible to adjust the brown in the renders to look more like the ral color swatch?
...maybe double the number of icons so 1U 2x beans, 1U 2x cups or whatever you feel like for row 4.Seconding this, opportunity for symmetry would be nice.

Please give me a deskmat with a mug ring stain on it.
Innnnnn for this one.
It's gonna be an expensive summer
Calling it now: This is going to be keyset of the year.
The colors blend so well on this. The accent brown is very relaxing and good job with the whole theme! A deskpad of the box art would be awesome too.
Consider the 1/60 in your next round of renders I just love that board.

Potential keys to remove to accommodate this: r1 pg dn, r1 end, mod colored ` key, or r4 1u ctrl/tab (forcing people with tada/60 with arrows to use novelties instead).Totally understand the wish for more compat, but I don't think it makes sense to do so while asking for removal of other compat.

- R1 Page Down/End - used in 1800/compact 1800
- Mod Coloured ` - pure aesthetic, but a very popular key
- R4 1u Ctrl - used in 60 with arrows or 65%, as noted, but also some boards from sizes 75% to 1800 afaik
Ahh I didn't know r1 pg dn was used for 1800 layouts that makes a lot of sense.Yea, I'm totally in favour of adding the key - just arguing to keep the keys I'd use too ;)
The other two I think are still worthy trade-offs though as both 60 with arrows and 65% can choose to use the extra 1u keys that are provided even though the legends are not perfect.
Also, we could just add 1 more key :) It's not a huge ask.
Great idea, and I love sets with brown, but I agree with those who say this set has too stark of a contrast to look coffee-themed, and also on the generic side. The dark brown modifiers against those alpha caps will look black in most lighting conditions, unless there’s bright light over the keyboard. Cappuccino foam color for alphas and a tad lighter mod color (for beans), and maybe some red-brown accents for cinnamon (I don’t do that to my coffee, but it’s a topping option).

Still looks black and not brown to me. You can't expect everyone to have perfect lightning in their room/work place and have it as on the first picture :-/
The coffee color (and bean color) can vary depending on the variety and degree of roasting of coffee beans, if you want to be pedantic. Also a lot of Europeans drink it with milk.I don't disagree that coffee can be lighter, but the argument of many comments seem to be "too dark for coffee", which is patently untrue. I can understand people wanting a lighter brown set, but this clearly isn't it.

While this set isn't it in the current iteration. I worry the goal of being as close to standard black coffee as possible in the color, when applied to plastic, will end up just looking black black in most lightings.
If the color were changed to a color more in alignment with the rich browns of coffee beans (like the ones photo posted above) it'd look better in all lighting I think.

I think making this set with a richer brown takes it very close to chocolatier and at that point, there's no purpose left to it. Coffee looks black in most light situations from afar which is exactly what's happening in the pictures here too. But as OP can confirm too, the brown is distinct IRL.
Sorry for the off topic question, where can I go to find out more about that Dharma keyboard from the renders? Google doesn't return anything meaningful.

Yes, coffee can look black. It can also look light brown, dark brown, and pretty much every shade inbetween. We have plenty of black (WoB/BoW) keysets to choose from, but if that’s the look the designer and others want, I’m not saying it’s wrong, just that it’s going to look black in most conditions.

I personally like the dark brown modifier color. The bright white alphas seems to be the issue for me. The stark contrast between alpha and mod colors give it that GMK Monochrome look.
What if the alpha and accent colors were swapped? I think that light brown alphas would pull out the brown in the mods and the white accents would look great.
Honestly, I'd say so long as this isn't GMK Plum or Necro we're probably going to be okay. You know I love the set, but perhaps there's a slightly brighter RAL that we could see and maybe that will work better with natural indoor lighting. The biggest problem with GMK Phantom is that it's purple in direct sunlight, but basically black in indoor lighting. Not the mustard yellow? :p

In it's current state it looks a lot like GMK Monochrome, albeit with a more toned down white. I don't think that was the goal either. In my opinion, we have enough black/white keysets around and I'd love some more brown keysets.
Yes, I do understand that coffee can look black but then GMK Monochrome or GMK WoB are both coffee keysets, period.

Cool set, I'm in for one.We will announce the GB dates SoonTM - we've got some things to finalize, but this shouldn't complicate summer plans if you're in for some of the great sets coming out soon.
What would be timescales for this?
In a month or two?

Why take coffee as inspiration if the set turns out black and white
Either the renders are misleading or the colors you picked aren't very reminiscent of coffee
I don't type outdoors, so it appears it's gonna look like gmk monochrome for me

Black coffee is best coffee.
the colors are set and are not likely to be changed. There are more updates to be released SoonTM and I look forward to the continued discussion regarding the set. I encourage you to visit me during the Seattle meetup to see the colors in-person if you're on the fence about the set. I'll be there with the colors and may also have some goodies for you (while supplies last).
Hey guys,
I recently got a RAL color book and I am pretty impressed with the brownness of RAL 8019! It actually looks more black to me in direct sunlight. I got high expectations for this set now :thumb:
RAMA cap row 0 or row 1?
If row 0, I'm inclined to believe you are using Row 0-5 then?
Can we get R4 1u Hack or Hyper in the base or 40s kit
Which is the alpha's legend color? The legend color for the alphas is the mod color - RAL8019
I love the colors, I hope the alphas (L9) and the modifiers stay the same colors! I'll be in for base and the rama artisans! Thanks for taking a peak and the support - no intention on changing the colors =)
One thing I noticed - the black alphas kit doesn't provide an option for all black F-row keys. So it would only really work with a 65 or smaller. Not sure how much it is to add F1-4 and F9-12, just figured I'd point it out!

Thanks for bringing it to my attention! I have updated the kit render to reflect support for mono dark F row.
Hey man, I'm the render guy for the kits and I was curious about what that was for. I only see it in Zamb kits and very few complaints when it's missing. Could you fill me in?
the kit design is somewhat perplexingHey Hiney!
-no numpad alphas in the brown alphas kit, making them useless for fullsize/1800/etc
-brown spacebars separated from the brown alphas kit, so if you'd want an all-brown set you'd need to get both the brown alphas and spacebars ($95)
I'm probably the big dumb, but 6 and 6.25 for the spacebar pack or 6.25 and 7?
Was so hyped, but with ISO Support in an extra Set and than not even full international Support it really sucks. I wont Pay 50 $ for a Single key. Really disappointed i have to pass.

Prices would’ve been perfect for me if the novelties are in a separate kit.

How cool would it be if we were able to buy EXACTLY ONLY the keys we need/want in a keyset gb.Everyone except GMK ;D
We should just have an MOQ/Price per key.
Then everyone happy?

How cool would it be if we were able to buy EXACTLY ONLY the keys we need/want in a keyset gb.

Was so hyped, but with ISO Support in an extra Set and than not even full international Support it really sucks. I wont Pay 50 $ for a Single key. Really disappointed i have to pass. And by doing so you ensure that the ISO kits will forever remain a low number...

THUS re-enforcing the perception that ISO users is a vocal minority...
WHICH guarantees that ISO keys will not included in future sets’ base kits.
And on and on, the snake eating itself by the tail.
Vote with your wallet, holy crap. You’re not in the position of power to demand anything.

1. I didn't demand anything, I just voiced my disappointment, something everybody is allowed and often times even encouraged to do.
2. As stated in my original reply I am voting with my wallet, by not buying this set.
3. Just to clarify: I am willing to spend extra for iso, but than i would like to have a proper NORDEUK Kit, somthing that is rarely even tried (obv. for a good reason, but the hobby is growing and therefore Id wish GB runners would at least try it more often)
I think both spacebar kit and 40s kit have 2.75 and 2.25. (Tbh, wish one of the split bar sets were the brown color, oh well)
I love this set and plan to join the gb. But I'm wondering what size the bottom row of space bars are in the space bar kit. I will need 2.25 and 2.75.

Could we get this confirmed, perhaps? I've been wondering about the actual sizes of those spacebars as well.

I think the mod and accent-colored spacebars are 6.25u and 7.00u, so the only 6.00u spacebars are cream. Makes sense that one is center-mount and one is offset.
Also, I think the two cream-colored 1Us in the 40s kit are convex.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/AYjqnzu.png)
So I didn't see any renders of the black alphas with anything, so I did a super janky photoshop to see what it would look like. One with the matching black spacebar and one with the accent spacebar. Since I already made it, figured I'd share in case anyone else was wondering. These are NOT OFFICIAL, and I'm not trying to steal anyone's images, just trying to be helpful. Enjoy!

Coffee is my other big indulgence apart from mechanical keyboards, and I'm super-excited for this set's GB. :thumb:
However, I do think that this set may benefit from some restructuring to the kits, mainly because of the following two reasons:
1. Including the basic ISO support in the main kit would likely boost interest among the EU audience (especially since a EU proxy is already confirmed)
2. There already are a significant number of GMK kits with L9-colored alphas, and uniform RAL 8019 for the base kit would make this more unique, and also better represent the coffee theme (Nines, Metropolis and Dots, have all been extremely successful recently with a single base color for alphas and mods)
With the reworked kits, I think there would be wider appeal as more buyers would be able to get in on this unique colorway with the purchase of just one or two kits in most cases (for example, the additional spacebar kit would be required only for functional, and not aesthetic reasons). Of course, how this would affect pricing is not something I can comment on, but I'm hoping the changes would also mean that most people need to spend less overall to achieve the look they're after.
Most significantly, however, since this is an IC for Langelandia's vision, and as there is a possibility that what I'm suggesting may go completely against it, I apologize in advance if this is a completely irrelevant opinion.
So, finally, here's what I think the kits should look like (Please forgive the poor editing skills that I employed on the original kit images from the first post)

I mean it's just a copy/rerun of GMK White on Black except you've changed some of the colors. I'm in anyway.
I very much agree with this. Include iso UK in the base set and I'm all in.Coffee is my other big indulgence apart from mechanical keyboards, and I'm super-excited for this set's GB. :thumb:

Hey! this is super thought out and intriguing. Let me have a chat or two and marinate on the idea. I'm looking to finalize kits and everything to have a final update on 9.1 and I much appreciate the work on it.
Stay tuned =)

Remove it altogether and it's just another set that I'll sadly have to skip.

So, you won't buy the set even if ISO is a separate kit?

I don't agree with making the base set full brown. I like the brown and white base set more and I think most would agree.

Eeewwww full brown base kit :-X Hell no.
Few will want a full brown kit. And any who want a full cream one will just go for GMK Minimal.
I'm still for taking the ISO keys out for maximum buyer appeal.

just putting this in that i would love an all brown kit
There are a whole bunch of people in the MK UK discord server who are in love with this set, but only interested if we can have full UK ISO support.

It's very rare among us in the UK that the overwhelming majority love a set, and I genuinely think you will have a lot of extra base kits sold in the UK if you include UK ISO keys in base. We have actually gone to GMK for quotes on base sets with ISO vs without and it is going to be a roughly $4 difference to the price. That price difference will not sway anyone if they like the colourway and if you think it does, then you do not understand economics and there is no point having this discussion.
For all you who want to educate yourselves (looking at you, nguyenhimself), google inelastic demand.
It would be a huge shame for me, and probably many others, if Cafe went from my favourite set possibly ever to having to skip because no ISO support.
I see it this way - lots of people use 60%, 75% or TKL. They will buy base kit and don't need numpad.
I presume not many or minority of people use full keyboards and if they do, they will buy numpad kit.
Base kit, even having those novelties, looks like covers most of the combinations.
Plus, let's be honest - normally you get novelties as a separate kit, which costs a lot - here you get awesome coffee cups caps in a base kit! Awesome! :)
I'm not entirely happy to pay $50 for numpad, just to get my ISO UK, but I guess it is a compromise - I will sell numpad to someone who needs it - for example you, if you want it :thumb:
Numpad kit has 32 caps, $50 that would be $1.56 per cap - ISO I need has 10 caps, so leftover numpad will be $34.
You cannot make everyone happy, as there will always be someone who will want some caps in here, not there etc
These kits should cover majority of needs I believe.

The issue is though that Numpad/ISO may not hit MOQ if it has a MOQ of 250 or something. We can hope but I would like to go back to the days of full comprehensive base kits.
You guys keep saying that, but I keep seeing actual sales data like this, and come on man! Even the Forties kit has no problem hitting MOQ.Eeewwww full brown base kit :-X Hell no.

Wouldn't maximum buyer appeal be to include standard physical layout for a not insignificant part of the world?

You’re saying the EU market is a significant one.
I look at the sales number over the years and rather disagree.
Regarding the 40s kit, these boards benefit from symmetry. The image of GMK voyage on an ortho board is a great example. It’s in a bunch of signatures and probably helping draw sales.
Something similar could be done with the 40s kit here by replacing the lighter brown Esc and enter keys with light brown coffee bean and mug (r4 1u). Thoughts? I’ll hang up and listen..
just looked up the gmk kits I've bought in the last ~7 months. I'm probably forgetting some. Iso inclusion seems mixed, but most have iso in the base set.
gmk eclipse, oblivion r2 (all kits), mizu, skIIdata, metropolis, handarbeit, deep space, peachs n cream, voyage, violet on cream with iso.
striker, minimal, jamon without iso. All had numpads not in the base set.
Am I missing any in the last year that skew the results?

Which of these keycaps are required for Base kit to qualify as having ISO support?
• The set of 4 on the left?
• The set of 8 on the right?
• Just the ISO ENTER?
• Or something else?Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/eKpyeyK.png)

Not really sure what signature you are talking about... ;)
As for your question, all 40's peeps will have already purchased a base kit which includes those novelties so I don't think it's necessary to add those novelties again. But perhaps I misunderstood the question.
Anyway, I'd love to see a r3, 1u Ctrl key in the 40's kit since not everyone uses a r3 Esc or Tab. Thanks for considering!

Can we have some love for Dark alpha kit please? I haven’t seen any render of it on a full board. :-*
If someone wants to go all dark alphas and use a split or ortho build (anything less than 6u in other words) they'd be stuck with a white bar. This would be fine if there were white accents, but there are not. That one white bar is gonna stick out like a sore thumb. Please add dark bars to dark alphas kit.
Thanks
Am I blind, I can't see the prices. I know they were there...
If this starts in October, what would be the turnover period?
When could we expect this to be produced and shipped?
