STORY

Since way before joining and finding the world of custom keyboards, I’ve been using a TKL. The Corsair K65 was for a long time my daily keyboard. Until today, the TKL layout is still my preferred and favorite layout. Seeing the possibilities and variations as the iconic WKL and different blocker options, my interest in the layout grew even more.

With the “OBJ.140”, my goal is to bring a classic TKL to the community. I decided to honor the classic design with a lot of inspiration coming from the OTD 356CL while still having an identity of its own. It may look very similar to other TKL’s out there, but that’s what you get.
True and tested classic TKL.

I played a wargame called “World of Tanks” back in 2010 - 2017, before it became more and more of a “pay to win”. It’s a fun game, and it piqued my interest in tanks. The name “Obj.140” is taken from the Soviet medium tank “Object. 140” it was a tank developed from 1953 to 1958 in Nizhny Tagil, Russia to replace the famous T-54 medium tank. Two prototypes were completed before the project was cancelled in 1958 in favor of the "Object 430" Project.

But the tank in the game was and still is one of the most fun tanks to play in for experienced pro players. It has a low profile with a elegant look. The damage per shot was not high like it rival tanks from other nations in the same tier, it had a decent armor, you could often get lucky with it if you knew how to handle the armor angles to bounce the shots. The "OBJ.140", made it up with the great gun handling, accuracy on the move and the reload time on the gun with around 5 seconds, which means you had high damage per minute gun, it was made to farm your enemies once they where spotted for you by your allies.

So as a tribute to those many hours spent driving a tank using my trusty Corsair K65 TKL, I bring you the “Obj.140”, a tank of a TKL.

PCB Supports These Layouts:

My PLATES Will Support These Layouts ONLY:
One universal plate will be avaliable and one fixed ANSI plate for purchase.

THANKS & GRATITUDES:

First I want to give a big thanks to “Crykn”, the guy behind Dawn 75%  for the motivation and support to take this project all the way.
Also a big thanks to my friend who makes the "FMJ" keyboards, for motivating me and standing behind me.
Thank you, both of you!

For the PCB I want to thank “4pplet”. He is such an amazing guy with a lot of knowledge and gives more than 100% when working on a project, I can strongly recommend him for PCB works.

For finishing and doing a big part of the case design, I want to thank “Mr.X” .

Thank you "Ricco" for the help and support with manufacturing and thanks for all the other things you support me with!

Thank you too “Erlkonigin,” “Im Hide,” “Bisoromi,” and the guys in “Keyboard Atelier Discord” for giving a lot of feedback on my case design and a lot of support and help over this project.
Also, big thank you for all the close friends in the community who gave their opinions and feedback to shape this keyboard  during the development, you know who you are. ;)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE - 21/03/03

Hello guys, I should have updates this a while ago. But I have been busy IRL moving to a new house, work + studies. But I just wanna say that this "Obj.140" project is on hold from now and forward.
I have a lot of stuff to fix with the case when it comes for the interior design, mount, space...etc I am sorry for these kind of news and for coming out with it late. But I hope I can fix these issues as soon as possible, so we can order some prototypes when the time comes. Hope all of you are doing well and are safe. Remember this is a IC, and I am doing it because I find it first of all fun and enjoyable, maybe this will never work out or happen. But I will try my best from my side. Thanks for reading.

can't go wrong with classic :D

does the case support other standard TKL PCB such as the hiney h87a or the infinity 87 from mechlovin?

Simple. Clean. Classic. Love it.

I'd only suggest if you don't go too crazy on the logo design... Or possibly leave it blank? And do an internal weight logo?

Well...simplicity wins. That's a jane plate, looks like you're using a h87? Also, obj140 was overpowered, and it's being buffed, like all soviet mediums they're too good  ;D

If you do the gummy worm mount will it just be sandwiched between the top and bottom case? I don't need to screw in the plate like how its implemented on the Jane v2 ce?

Sadly not, we will provide our own PCB. They will be in stock if you need more of them.

I replied to this question in Discord, but I will reply here as well for the people who have same question mind can read and see it here. Yes the gasket ring mount is like
Jane v2 ce and OTD mini, you do not have to screw the plate when using this method. (:

If you look up Macbook laptop bumpons or Matrix keyboard bumpons you will see what style we are heading towards but as mentioned in the IC, we are not sure we will change some stuff and maybe we will go for smaller classic bumpons if we are not happy with the results of current style. I hope this answered your question  :thumb:

Indeed :thumb:

The giant pancake bumpons might not fit the aesthetic look for a "classic TKL" even though other keyboards do have them. Being able to replace them years down the road with easily obtainable and normal sized 3M bumpons is a nice feature as well.

2nd Wholy's opinion here. Those big matrix bumpons fit well on certain boards but I much prefer the classic ~8mm 3m ones. They are nice and grippy, don't affect the aesthetic of the board too much, and are easily replaceable.

Excited to see proto of the obj!

Yup I have decided to go with classic 3m smaller bumpons, there is so many out there but I will discuss with my team, to see what works best. Thanks for the feedback guys.
Duo to my studies and exams, it will take a bit longer to get the protos but it will happen eventually. (:
