Alps bowl get hype?
The Alps cover 65% of Switzerland's surface area (41,285 km²), making it one of the most alpine countries. Despite the fact that Switzerland covers only 14% of the Alps total area (192,753 km²),[2][3] many alpine four-thousanders (48 of 82) are located in the Swiss Alps and practically all of the remaining few are within 20 km of the country's border.

I've never gotten around to buying the stuff to do retrobright. But I just picked up a Northgate board that is seriously yellowed so maybe it's time I give it a go...

Well, the switches in the Northgate are white... But someone came through for me in a big way with blue Alps.

The whites in the Northgate feel different than my Unitek boards. I might use them in one of my Alps Party builds, but if it cleans up nicely I might keep it as is. That thing's built like a tank.

Yeah, whites in a Northgate Omnikey aren't bad, usually. Not my favorite, but not bad at all.

The Omnikey with its metal housing is definitely tank like. :)

My advice to ya is try to make connections, either with e-cyclers (cheapest route in the end, but probably requires the most effort), or with people who make hauls from e-cyclers. I scored my first blue alps board from asking users on reddit that I noticed had a blue alps board. Many were attached to their boards, but some actually preferred modern boards over them, and so were willing to sell. Scour the net for leads! Though, I missed a super obvious blue alps board on eBay a little while back. For all the specific searches I had been following, the listing I missed said "blue alps clicky keyboard"lol.

There's no way you'll find a cheap blue alps board online from anyone but the unaware or supremely generous.

I'm also curious to hear what njbair landed.

I sorted caps tonight.  All 9600 are in the bags where they need to go.

Just look at that primo product.

You know, they say you aren't supposed to get high on your own supply, but sometimes you need a little something to keep the buzz going.

The next step is putting boxes together and making labels.  Also, I need to select the winners of the artisan cap giveaway.

Would anyone be interested in swapping a HHKB Layout for an Infinity hacker style one?

I wanted to have HHKB style wooden case made but apparently that would be too expensive because of the bottom row coverings :( Such a bummer.

Who said it was still only "3" "Elephants"?
Given the amount of detail put into the Hannibal theme, like naming the caps after his family name, I will be *extremely* disappointed if there's not 37 elephants; one cap for each elephant that Hannibal crossed the Alps with.

P.S.
I've taken Sed8op8 order, which you probably already know from her PM.. so, this P.S. is kinda redundant..

Who said it was still only "3" "Elephants"?

Oh how I wish I could have made all 37.  The mold broke earlier than I expected though.  Some of my other Alps caps have had bubble issues.  We shall see how many things actually are worthy to ship.

P.S. Welcome to the buy!

Thanks, I've lurked GK for a long time, I finally signed up because of this GB

At your leisure, which plate did Sed8op8, and by proxy I, get? When she said Dell, I assumed AT101W, but since there's also AT101 and AT102W.. it's all so confusing for a nub  :'(

Well that kinda ruins it for me, the authenticity is lost.. not sure if I even want in this GB any more, I'm so confused  :'(

should fit for either. i think they both have the same keycap spacings, so you should be golden
Let's get this straight. There is nothing cool about keyboards we're all lame as fk.

I suggested just putting caps into random boxes some time ago, Blue veto'd it though.

BlueNalgene was afraid, with good reason, people might think they're a peanut and toss them with the rest of the packaging.

A solution to that is putting a note you see when you open the box that says "YOU A WINNER, HAHAHA!!!."

"Ugh, getting all the mail parts organized is something I was not prepared for.  It is taking me forever to sanitize the order data.  Why did I let you guys make so many order changes and stabilizer add-ons?  I'm too nice."

That is a quote from my brain being frustrated to give everyone an update.

As of right now, I'm thinking it would be possible to make the artisans a surprise for the winners.  I think I will tape the bright orange cap containers (pill bottles) to the packing list with a bunch of arrows that point at it and yell at you about winning and not throwing it away.  The current count of caps I'm going to send out as part of the giveaway is 4 Barca's.  The fourth one is blood red.  Those will be the only ones created, as I said before, since the mold was destroyed.

I have also made a limited number of a different artisan cap for those who I wish to thank.  There were 6 of these created.  Three of these will go to people instrumental in helping me organize this GB - hasu, JDCarpe, and njbair.  I know it isn't much and not everyone is interested in artisans, but it is a gesture of thanks by creating something special and unique for those people to do with as they see fit.  The mold for these was purposely destroyed so that no others would be cast(also because it was a pain in the ass to work with - I learned my lesson about sprues there).  Interestingly, the one person who already owns one of these caps has not, to my knowledge, chosen to share pics of it.  One I am keeping (I totally didn't take it to work to put on my Dell and lost it), and the last one I will give to someone when the mood takes me.

As a reminder, these caps aren't the highest quality.  My work is still amateurish at best.  These are meant as an awesome extra thing to go above and beyond the usual fare.

I know that the dearth of artisans for Alps stems has been mentioned as a turn-off for some.  I have two other designs that are carved but not cast.  One of those was going to be part of the giveaway, but I have been crazynutjobAnnCoultergoofballs busy lately.  So I didn't have as much time to spend making trinkets as I had hoped.

Truly you were too nice and accommodating with us!

I expect you to make progress and crush us under your gb leader jackboot next time. ;)

May I ask what sort of trinkets to expect from the whole switch payment thing?
Also, go Blue!
