I hate cyan and pink, so I don't want one of those. After hitting 2000 silver would be acceptable, but I would like to have my own text rather than "Elevated Elder"...

There should be a star for having 50,000 posts - "Son of Ripster".

And there was me thinking about a yellow star heh
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm against this idea of stars for post count tiers. The meaningless post counts are already listed right below the avatar, no need for a star right on top that says that same thing. That's just redundant.

I have to agree - but I do think rewards (maybe on the profile) for community contributions would be a positive thing...things like a successful group buy, hardware designs, software designs, Wiki contributions, Solving technical problems, etc...

That would imply a system based on adding reputation points, like the kind used on Overclock.net.  Not just a "thank you" button, but rather a button to acknowledge something useful / interesting.

Yes, something like this would be more meaningful than post count stars. Although, this whole star thing in general... meh...

Here's an idea - Instead of stars just color people's username's to reflect their status as an Admin, Mod, Vendor, Non-Profit, Kiloposter, etc. It would have the same effect, but without a 'special star'...

Agreed and I've actually suggested this before, I think it would be a much less tacky solution to labeling users.

Then that's 2 votes for coloring the username, and now to start a poll... :))

I'm fine with a coloured username. As long as it's PINKKK

Colored nicknames gets another nod.

Anything to reduce clutter!

Legitimate locations only.

Get rid of usertexts too.
