This is quite literally a copy of GMK cubed….
I assume the base render isn't final here as the R2 is in R3 position and missing R4. The 1U pipe key is in the wrong place next to the R4[<>] key. It would be R3.Thank you for your feedback, I am working now on better kitting to satisfy each one of you!
For me, missing some intl kitting and ideally some support for 1.5U supers for HHKB etc.
This is quite literally a copy of GMK cubed….
First and foremost, I would like to clarify that GMK Pixel Platoon is based on a specific theme: the retro game Space Invaders. The colors used in my set were carefully selected to pay homage to the game's aesthetic and its iconic pixel art. I would like to clarify that the colors used in our sets are entirely distinct. While both sets may incorporate vibrant/neon colors, the main colors are different, Cubed's is purple and mine is blue, it is evident to anyone with an eye for detail that they are not identical. The selection and arrangement of colors in GMK Pixel Platoon were meticulously chosen, resulting in a unique aesthetic that sets it apart from any other design, including Cubed. Therefore, it is disheartening to witness the insinuation that my work is a mere replica of Cubed.
Dracula and cube had a baby, kinda weird.I was gonna say Striker and Monokai Material.
I like this a lotThank you so much, working on it to make it even better :thumb:
I love the colors.Appreciate your feedback, thank you.
I love the theme.
Very excited about this set. GLWIC!
there are 2 1.5u pipe keys instead 1.5 backspace on renderResolved, also added 40s support!
Very interesting !!Hey, yes you are right, there was a problem with the rows in the base kit and it's resolved now, I will add 1.5 backspace in Invader Influx too :thumb:
There is no 1.5 backspace R2 in Invader Influx kit ?
(there is probably a problem in the rows in the base kit too)
Just wanted to say that I love everything about this set! I’ll be watching for when this goes to GB as I’m almost certainly going to pick one up of most of the kits available. Good luck with this project!
I am a huge fan of the deskmat design! GLWIC!Thank you, I appreciate that.
Nice colors! Maybe you can add also a minimalist deskmat?
Will keep an eye for updates :thumb:
anyone with an eye for detail
I think your "Invader Influx" kit needs some work.
- Not sure what 1.75 R4 controls are supposed to be for
- Missing R3 Blue 1.75u control
- Missing 1.5u orange backspace
- Missing 1u Fn to go with 1.75u accent shift
- 2nd 1u Alt is redundant since 1.5u Supers are not available in any kit.
I also don't understand the decision to make the stepped "Insert Coin" key windowed but the full touch key with the same legend non-windowed. Having them both windowed would save you mold cost, same deal on "Invader's Arsenal" kit.Moreanyone with an eye for detail
NorDeUK pls :-DMore people want nordeuk, so I think I'll put one together for the next update :thumb:

Also it might be a good idea to include 2x invaders for all rows in the arsenal set. I'm not sure, but at least I need 2x R1 1u's without a window because no base set + nordeuk set covers everything I need for R1.
I realise there are 2x non-windowed 1u R1 keys in the arsenal set already, but I don't like the bubblegum one. Perhaps if the character was black instead of white? Then it would match the bubblegum shift keys at least.
Anyway these comments seem much more subjective than my previous post.
Looks very nice, definitely interested :thumb:So happy to hear that, thank you!
I am a sucker for retro themed keycap sets and the colors on this set really speaks to me. I'm like 90% down. Will wait for vendor and pricing.Amazing to hear that :thumb:
I personally liked the old deskmat more, please don't remove it.I'll see what I can do about it, maybe remove one of these and have that as a second option :thumb:
Reconsider US vendor. I personally would not hand money over to them as of right now.Started looking for a new US Vendor! Will update you as soon as I have new information.
Indeed, it seems mechs & Co is about to go under...
Interesting set, I actually like it a lot but I'd be curious to see a line of side by side renders of it next to:
- GMK Hallyu
- GMK Cube
- GMK Monokai
- GMK Future Funk
- GMK Deep Navy
- GMK Dracula

Excited for this!

who rendered these? All the renders were made by myself :)

That would be cool, or maybe start a small poll about it to find out what the majority thinks? I just found the old deskmat fits very well color-wise and theme-wise.
Added IC Form, if you are interested in the set please take 30 seconds from you time to complete it, would help me a lot🤍There is no question about the three deskmat designs in the IC form unless I'm blind.
Will make a separate one for deskmats :thumb:Added IC Form, if you are interested in the set please take 30 seconds from you time to complete it, would help me a lot🤍There is no question about the three deskmat designs in the IC form unless I'm blind.
Please don't forget my previous post with the specific comments :-P
Also can you consider doing a render with a yellowish 60% hhkb board, like the 8 bit 60 color (not the specific model) from this post:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=116816.0
https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https://i.imgur.com/P5CNnJ1.png
Or possibly the yellow from https://heavymetalkeyboards.com/products/hmkb-60s?variant=41398500262085
Also consider a blue-grey / denim like the first images of the Lily: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=118429.0
Thank you!
So, after more time of thinking, I came to these two final options. The old deskmat + one more from the new ones! Hope that works for many of you! As someone waiting for a few GB's from them, what is the recent drama with Mechs and co people keep bringing up? Should I be worried about it?
New US Vendor Confirmed

Any news on the color comparison? Thanks
The renders appear to show two different legend colors. What is the actual intended color? The bright white contrast or the more muted gray?
hey,deskmats is cool,broAppreciate your words! :D
I truly think that smaller projects like this which are unlikely to sell many hundreds should consider alternative manufacturers, honestly. Such as for example Key Kobo or really just anyone else. Not that I think this is doomed or anything, in fact I quite like it. But a different manu could be sold as preorder or in-stock which seems to be the trend of things lately (disclosure: I said the same thing in the GMK Bim thread). On one hand, this is true. On the other hand, any manufacturer that isn’t GMK is pretty much an instant turn off for me.

So the set was scheduled to run in September… it’s now nearly November. Did this get pushed back or is it just dead in the water at this point? Any update would be great.
Just to set the record straight – the set is alive and kicking. We're hustling behind the scenes to bring you some awesome stuff. Thanks for sticking around!
nice! a drop set! ez pass
yeah but DCX is trash, wasted design
nice! a drop set! ez pass
I own a dozen DCX sets and haven't had an issue whatsoever with any of them. Drop even brought back Hyperfuse in DCX and helped those who got burned on the original GMK Group Buy.
It takes some nerve to go into a designer's thread & spout "GMK or Nothing" basically telling the designer that you care more about the manufacturer than the design itself as if Drop is no better than some clone keycap manufacturer in China. They're a tenured business with a reputable parent company listed on the stock market. They are THE LAST vendor that would exit scam us.
Isn't competition good? Do we want GMK making every set causing the queue to get backed up again? Do we want them to grow complacent and make us settle whenever we complain about anything? Shouldn't we want other options available for designers to make their keycap set a reality?
If I had to guess, the DCX sets like this will cost a tad more than the sets Drop produced in house since there's more R&D/labor involved especially for the Novelties. Though for the Base kit it'll probably be close to regular base kit pricing. DCX is just now doing novelty add-ons for the first time with this set, Rocky Bird, and BIM being their first designer submitted sets. So we'll see what kind of pricing there is for novelties for the first time. Either way, it's nice to see Drop taking this side of the hobby more seriously.I own a dozen DCX sets and haven't had an issue whatsoever with any of them. Agreed on all points.
I don't think anyone is making the argument that DCX is taking over as the gold standard for keycaps, but they're great caps, with solid base kitting at a solid price (assuming community backed DCX kits launch at the same pre-order/early bird pricing model as their main line stuff). I'm sure most of the people that pop in here to diss Drop, have never tried DCX and never had intention of joining the GB anyways, or pop in to ask for some obscure kitting on a set that they're not actually interested in.
Competition is great and GMK hasn't been free from imperfections recently anyways at a much higher price tag. I am curious if the current DCX pricing and kitting would be consistent for community backed DCX sets because if so, and if the turnaround time is reasonable, I don't see any reason they couldn't be a major player.
I'd much rather designers get to make their set happen and have it be more accessible for more people, rather than forcing it through GMK because a few elitist purists want to buy a GMK base kit so they can leave it sealed on their shelf.

In 2022 Drop's second DCX GB was designer-led and had novelties: DCX Deep Space by Booper - https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=117780.0
NUKZ I see you updated the desk mats , any chance you can make at least one of them with that nice carpet fabric reminiscent of what they used in arcades in the US? did you consider making novelties for the arrows as well?
