Took me about 7-8 hours to build this KMAC 1.2, but it was all worth it in the end. This included desoldering existing switches, opening them up, removing the in-switch diode (PITA if you didn't cleanly desolder), applying stickers, spring oil and slider lube, closing them back up and soldering them in. Really wished this had the Phantom plate design =/ Oh, I also forgot to put the stabilizers in first after soldering in about 40+ switches, ugh.
Specs:
KMAC 1.2 Red "Winkeyless" using blockers (84-key)
60g Cherry MX Browns (Clear for Esc, Grey for Spacebar), fully modified with pink switch stickers, Victorinox Multi-Tool Oil for springs, and 60%/40% GPL203/103 for sliders
Red LEDs under Esc, F1-F12, WASD. Magenta for Caps and Control keys.
OG RA + QWERKeys Function Row Pack (infilled version; not doubleshot)
The color matching was perfect all around, blockers and all. It's a tad darker and more vibrant than the plate, but nearly the same color. Overall, all the hard work I think really paid off. I'm extremely satisfied and surprisingly, modded browns don't feel awful nor boring. Most of the scratchiness sound is removed and the bump is more subtle than before. When typing at 110+ WPM, they feel fluid and almost like a linear switch.
