   Previous version of these thick O-rings (red ones) were covering up some of the backlight LEDs.

This one is my personal favorite, but I know it’s not for everyone. It’s the max thickness you can have in an O-ring. It bottoms out just after the key’s registration point. As you may or may not know, the waiting game for any korean custom keyboard is tough on the wallet and the nerves but from my experience, it's worth every penny and sweat !

Soldering job & assembly :
All SMD components were soldered by GON.

Condition :
It is in flawless shape except for one tiny scratch on the top left corner of the polycarbonate layer and another tiny scratch on one of the feet.
They are highlighted in the photos.
Both scratches were there when I received the housing (unassembled) from South Korea.

Used this keyboard for less than a month as a daily driver.

It should be around 5-6 days to the USA. For example, it took 4 days for delivery in Canada.

• Should you worry before slamming your keys with my O-rings on board ?
  - No, you should not.

I don't have any WASD blue o-rings so I can't compare. I asked swill to help us on this question and he confirmed his intention to do it - So let us wait before issuing an opinion in favour of one particular model in this (very) subjective area.

I've been using my "slim" and "fat" O-rings since last June and they still look perfect. KeyboardCo is also selling some O-rings made of silicone (the "slim" ones) and so far I've never heard any complaint.

Maybe I should try to run a torture test to check how well they are performing, this could be fun

Would you recommend the slim or fat o-rings for a Filco TKL Browns with original Cherry Doubleshots? I really would like to reduce the noise, because I bottom-out when I type and play video games.

I'm using both O-rings with my CODE keyboard (OEM profile - stock keycaps) but my guess is "Fat" O-rings won't work well with Cherry profile keycaps.

Awesome! I just paid the invoice for a bag of slim o-rings. I would greatly appreciate having a few fat ones to try too. I like the idea of mixing them like yours. My moogle kit doesn't use the cherry profile, so maybe fats would be good then? I have a R3 moogle kit that uses SP profile.

I don't have any SP keycaps right now but from what I've seen (here - source : ebay.de)  R3 Moogle kit does not have any crossbars inside.

My O-rings arrived today! Thanks so much! The thick orings are really nice ) and are really silent. Typing on reds right now and the shortened travel distance is actually bliss also tested the thinner ones which IMO don't feel as nice on reds. But they're easier going if you're uncomfortable with super short travel distances.

I'm currently installing them right now, but you were right in recommending the slim o-rings for the Cherry keys. The fat rings prevent the keys from pushing down flat, and they reduce the travel distance too much for my taste. I'll add more later after I get acquainted to the change, but so far I really like how much noise they reduce and the travel distance reduction is just about right. Thanks again!

Couple of quesitons, guys:

1) Did anyone tried using fat o-rings with Cherry profile keycaps? I wounder if they'll actually fit;
2) Will fat o-rings interfere with LEDs? Anyone tried it on backlit boards?

Question to Lpwl, are there any plans for future buys? As an suggestion - maybe do it in clear rubber next time and EPDM instead of silicone, if you could source it ofc/

Fat rings will fit but they will feel like they reduce the travel distance A LOT. some people (like me) don't mind it, others hate it. In regards to LEDs, they will interfere with your keycaps and also may alter the colour of the light slightly so that should be taken into account whether you want these or not. Also Lpwl is trying to source clear O-rings but I haven't been on in a week or so and I'm not too updated on the status of that.

2) Yes, you will lose some backlighting but it's not really "that bad" !

You should not have any problem to use some thicker O-rings with the stock keycaps on your Filco (= OEM profile).

I got mine yesterday. Paid Thursday evening and shipped the next morning.
I ordered 90 of the thickest and 110 of the thinner. Atm I'm using the thicker ones my Keycool 84 key with kalith browns. They feel nice, but perhaps dampen the keyboard a little bit too much for my taste. They remove most of the bottoming out sound which is the main source of noise with that keyboard. (I'm god awful at touchtyping/not bottoming out.)
I needed a keyboard to play games with during the night, and this fits well.
I haven't tried the red ones yet, I haven't made up my mind if I want to use them on my Filco TKL with browns or the fullsized Filco with reds. Leaning towards the reds atm.
Overall I had a great experience with the seller, despite Gollum being a creepy mofo.

I have DSA Dolch and DSA PBT Blanks from SP. DSA is a low-medium profile. Will the Fat O-rings work? I think I read something about the crossbar right underneath the top layer of the keycap missing in SP keycaps. I understand that means stacking more O-rings, but is there a fit issue with the width? Can you clarify?

I ordered normal, thin 0.4mm TEX O-rings from Massdrop, but I would like to shorten and soften my key travel distance as much as possible. I'm hoping these Fat O-rings will do nicely.

That's right - these "Fat" O-rings are too thick to be used with Cherry profile keycaps (made by CherryCorp, GMK, BSP or IMSTO).

On the other hand, DSA keycaps (made by SignaturePlastics) work really nicely with O-rings if you are able to stack a few of them on top of each other.

In your case, this setup - one 1.5mm O-ring (for example, one of your TEX O-rings) + one 2.5mm O-ring - would be perfect !

Welcome to geekhack

I had to get things sorted with a new manufacturer regarding the thickest O-rings (pricing - pre-production sample - quality control... et cetera) and my contact in China is ~8 hours ahead of me so it can be tricky to move things forward as quickly as we would like.

Current exchange rate between USD and EURO is also not really helping.

But I'll do my best and I won't start ROUND 4 until everything looks perfect and is ready for dispatch !

Both solutions are good with DSA keycaps, you can either use one "XXL" O-ring (=3.0mm) or stacking up two O-rings on top of each other (=1.5mm + 2.5mm ⇔ one "Thin" + one "Thick") like this :



Sadly all "Thick" O-rings are now gone but there is still one LAST bag of "XXL" (^110pcs) available.

For those wondering, I would definitely go with the XXL for any DSA sets you have (or any SP sets really). The issue with SP sets isn't actually a difference in profile, it's the fact that the caps are missing crossbars in them, like classic cherry ones have. The crossbars in classic cherries, take up 25-50% of the area underneath the cap, which works perfectly with O-Rings. When you remove those crossbars, you need a good deal more area. For my tests, using just one thick clear O-Ring had a very minimal effect on my DSA caps and higher row DCS caps (it worked pretty well for the bottom row DCS caps though), but the second I added a second, thin, red O-Ring, everything felt just about perfect. It might have been a bit too much even... meaning the XXL's are perfect, since they're right in between a single thick clear and a thick clear + a thin red. But, you couldn't go wrong with a set of thick clears and thin reds. Together those solve just about all SP problems and, separately, they still handle Cherry profile caps fine .

Yeap, the "XXL" ones (=3mm) were specially made for being used with DSA keycaps.

I didn't encounter any problem using these "XXL" O-rings with my CODE keyboard (stock keycaps = OEM profile) but just to be sure, I would recommend you the "thick" ones (=2.5mm) instead.

These REAAAAALLY thick O-rings ("XXL" ones = 3.0mm) in combination with the stock keycaps (OEM profile) of your Corsair K70 keyboard will start to edge into the engineered tolerance of the actuation point of your key switches and as a consequence, you may not be able to actuate every switch comfortably.

You don't want that !

Thanks for the info!  I'm still very tempted to get a bag of the XXL because maybe I'll want new keycaps or get a new board down the road and these big clear o-rings don't grow on trees.
