What layouts to people like to use on hhkb like keyboards?

Trying to figure out how to manage modifiers.

Mirror the hhkb as close as possible. Split backspace and split right shift

Im trying to figure out my left hand mod thing currently. Especially for gaming where I end up using most of the mod keys a lot.

One of the things that excites me most about this is that you can make multiple boards to use with it. There is not certain mount where you have to have certain PCB and plates. I will use this case for a long long time. May be a true endgame main stay for me. I want to get a gray but I know most keysets will go with black better so I went with that.

So excited about this Raymond! This is my first Keyboard GB.

I know this feeling all too well... Think I'm going to go with gray though so that it can look pretty sitting next to my white and black hhkb's :]

This is great logic. The case is compatible with other 60% plates though? The cutouts on the bottom row won't get in the way? If not, having a few PCB, swtich, plate sandwiches laying around to throw in this thing would be delicious.
How does one become so interested in a thing like keyboards? When you realize you use a keyboard more than any other tool in your life.

Keep in mind guys, you can have whatever layout you want. The PCB is easily reprogramable! Have fun with it! :)

I THINK. Looking at the screw location, it seems to be standard Poker screw whole.

Can you confirm Raymond?

He said any standard 60% can be used. Any plate as well. Be careful about the plate though! Not sure if a Pok3r style plate would work 100%. Most are universal anyway.

Its tray mount so no issues with the blockers! Any 60 plate should work.

I think it is. But what kind of Pcb  you want to use? I mean it's fixed on the spacebar row.Nothing can be changed there. Can't really get a poker inside of this baby.

Just invoiced everyone who filled in the form. If you are ordering from originative, you can just ignore it.

BTW,The PCB is a custom made. ESC led will face north, and the rest of the leds will face south. This way,it's better for resin keycaps you put in the ESC spot.

Sounds good - with the current LED orientation gmk caps can be used right?

Googled, south facing LED's work well with GMK. It's the other way that doesn't work well with GMK/thicker caps. Yay!

I have a couple more q's --

What color will the pcb be?
Is the diffuser removable, or is is necessary to have it in for the case to work properly?

I'll have to shuffle around some finances real quick, but I am so hyped for this!!  :p

The diffuser is removable as per discussion in the IC thread/here. :) Personally I'm probably going to go with a non-diffuser build.

You don't have to use diffuser. For the pcb the color is black/gold

Damn, a black/gold PCB would look great when paired with the black option. Just wishing there was a black aluminum version for the plate too now for the all-black look  ;D

Not wanting to use a Poker. I have a GH60 with a SS plate that I will most likely use until I can get my full kit built.

Yep, if that's a hhkb-like layout. it has to be 1 1.5 7 1.5 1 on the spacebar row.

Just out of curiousity: why did you go with tray mount? Some folks over on reddit say that it would have been better to choose something similar like a Duck Viper, because tray mount feels very rigid and not that good.

I know people want to have a soft type feeling. Still tray mount is not that bad and it's easy to replace. You don't need a plate. After all i am quite happy with mine. With the vintage black everything is good. ;D ;D ;D

Alright everyone... I am in for a black but I kind of want a gray. Financially, this will be my last board for the year and I will pair it with my last keyset for the year.. GMK Terminal.

What are your opinions on Black vs Gray case for GMK Terminal? I have always wanted a gray case but black is more safe.

It's hard to go wrong with black.  Pairs well with nearly everything.  Having a black board for your rotation is great and something I am sorely missing...definitely considering switching from the pink...

But pink is so <3

Totally agreed. Black is easy to pair,it can never go wrong. But with terminal, gray can also fit in perfectly. I think the base color of terminal is kind of gray isn't it? ;) ;)

Also pink is so good make everyone want it. Don't change it.
