Title: Arcade Pad

OK

Next project.  I want to make an arcade pad.  I want to use dope sanwa buttons and ****.  gotta feel real good. so i was looking around some and found some things i like.

Now where i need y'alls help is with the stick and buttons.  which sanwa options offer what?  are there clicky and linear arcade buttons like we have with keyboards? i think i want a clicky or tactile button for sure. 

other ideas would involve putting a rasberry pi inside it and have an emulator setup on a memory card with tons of roms.  not sure if i could figure out how to run the OS with only the arcade sticks and what have ya but that is part of the fun.

supply me with your thoughts and opinions whether they are warranted, wanted, or undesired.

I have a SF4 TE stick with the 'standard' Sanwa buttons and they are linear, light and have a very short throw.

as much as i love cherry i am not sure their MX switches have a place in arcade pads.

I was intrigued when you wrote "arcade pad," but I think many in the gaming community associate "pad" with a flatter controller (think Sega Saturn's pad), so I'd use "arcade stick" to describe what you're interested in!

That said, I'd recommend Sanwa wholeheartedly. I have a Hori RAP V3-SA and I love it. (dem clicky Sanwa)

If you want to build it yourself, check out akihabarashop.jp. I got my Sanwa buttons from there, and they even have the rarer OBSF-30RG (longer push button for longer life).
I think you'd want to get a JLF-TP-8YT stick, which I believe are the de facto sticks, but you may be able to swap it out later, and also put a restrictor plate or remove it.

Now, if you really want to customize and have someone else do it, not to mention save up, B15 SDM Designs is the king of custom arcade sticks. He's based in England (I think?) but I've been drooling and lusting over his work for years now.
