Interested, filled out that form. Does it come with finger tape, and those fingers as well?

On a more serious note, I don't think it's required you bend them. In fact, I think it might be better that you don't bend, that way you can hold it at the tip for slightly more leverage and your fingers are closer together.
How so? Just by looking at the pics, I wouldn't think that the bend just allows your fingers to hold it at certain angle, but not totally prevent the design from working.
Can I recommend a modification? Punch 2 holes through the tool, one a small distance up from the base of the curve, another a small distance down from the top end. 3/8" seems like a good size. You could then use elastic cord loops to attach the tools to your fingers instead of tape.
Edit: Pm'ed some of the people who left commentsShould I have left the comment in the form to get your attention? :/

Ah, ok, had to reread alaricljs' post a few times to understand its content :D
Yeah, that's quite similar to my approach, even better.
I still want credits!

I like the idea of magnets but like alaricljs, bungie cords would help open the switch AND keep them together
I think I'll be buying 120 tools/60 sets during this GB. I'll be able to ship with the poker plates (I'll just add what it cost onto your shipping invoice) or separately if you didn't order a plate.
Tentative pricing is $5.50 + shipping
If these are less than $10 I would be in for at least one set.
Per alaricljs suggestion, 2 holes have been added for magnets or elasticAwww maaaan :/
Will a order thread be up soon?
If we also buy a Poker plate from you, you do ship them combined, right?
dumb question, this tool doesn’t need the leverage from below the switch, is it possible to change switches without desoldering even on normal plates then?
Would like to order a pair when available! Please keep us posted when they do. Thanks!
Hope, what? He's ordering a fat stack and selling them outright. GB not required ;) If they sell out we just scream at him to make more.

He could throw them in a kiddie pool filled with mud and make us all wrestle for them, I don't care. I just want one.
Don't forget some baby oil, I want this to be interesting
Filled out the form. Definitely interested. How likely is it looking for this to go through?

Quite impressed...

I'm surprised you haven't tried to get them a purple color by either paint, powder coat or anodization.
For some reason I thought they were aluminum when I said that.

For what? They serve their purpose and don't get displayed like keycaps would.
Would you cared if your toilet paper was white or purple? ;)
Hey Beast, Where did you get your switch stand switcher? Aren't they like $20 some where?
I thought I bought enough to cover the plate GB and then have some to sell after, but I didn't. I'll probably put up a form sometime soon to order a second round.

Any chance of running another round of Poker plates as well?
Would you consider making these colored?

Well that's how I've been trying to use the tool. Hmm I'll keep trying to see if I can get it right =D Thanks for the reply, Beastie ;) .
If you ever decide to have a 2nd round, I would definitely be in.
Also, would you consider making plates for the KBT Race? (It feels too light after using the Filco :P)
So after more testing, one set of tools work perfectly, the other set just won't because the one tool is too thick to fit well enough in the slots. Hmmm now who do I know that has a belt sander/grinder.

I would need a drawing of the plate (in autocad).
Got a set with my poker plates and they work like a charm. Soooo much easier to take switches apart now :)
I'll do another buy later
Ok, this is the 2nd thread this has happened to me, but not all threads are doing this, I think the pics in the op are broken.

I'd be in just in case I ever need them.Just to let you know : they aren't to be used with that Ducky you just bought. They only work if you have a custom plate which allows you to remove the top half of the switch while it's still soldered.
I would be willing to bet that they would still work fantastic on unmounted switches as wellI may be wrong but they seem like they would be a pain to use when the switch is unmounted. It's easy to remove the top of an unmounted switch with just a screwdriver anyway. The same can't be said for a mounted one.

Yes, when I get time
Guys... His last post in this thread was in JANUARY!... So spam his PM box if you want your voices to be heard.Yes, when I get time
People like to spam mine for 7x spacebars and 1.5x mods, even though I've never had those for sale...
Mmmm... Cheesus christ... With extra bacon...
Beast, Y U IGNORE THE ROAR OF THE CROWD!? ;)
I am also interested in one of these. I pull my caps in a barbaric bad way =/
Oh woops lol, I can't see the pictures and assumed it was a cap puller. My bad
I'm going to incite and instigate in the meantime, okay?
Man, these things are great! They open switches so easily. Why don't you guys have any yet? How did people even open switches before? It seems so barbaric...
Ahhh tank you, I doubt I would need one of those, with how clumsy I am, there is a high chance I would break things

Without them the chances are even higher ;D. But if you break it you get a chance to fix it, and that's always fun. Fixing keyboards is awesome!
Sorry fr asking this, But does this work on all boards or just pcb mounted switches and boards with special mounting?Only for pcb mount and plate mounts with custom switch holes. Won't work on regular plate mount.
+2
When the 1st round was few dollars, yes it was good. $10 each pair? Not really.
Oh cmon, how did I miss R2?My thoughts exactly :(
Oh cmon, how did I miss R2?
Anyways I think you could easily sell these with at least a $10 profit (assuming your classified price was as nice as R1).

Probbally do another run with some lube stations. Price might be higher depending on how many sets are sold in R3

He never called it R2. He just sold them. He put all the money in himself, then sold them. It was never a GB.

No wonder I never saw it. I just kept looking in the Group Buy section...anybody got a set they want to sell?
Hope someone takes up a new GB for a Cherry Switch Top Removal Tool then.

Where can we sign up for this next round? ;)
Where can we sign up for this next round? ;)
I'll start a pre-order soon. I think I'll be running these with the "mega plate-athon"
Are there photos / videos of how this would work with universal TKL plates? Been trying to visualize it.
Oh yeah, I know it should work, I just wanted to see how :) I've only ever opened switches from underneath with a tiny screwdriver, so I'm trying to visualize using the tool. Presumably the 4 flat protruding bits will go into the holes where the tabs are located, from the top, then push to open the tabs outwards, then lift up the top of the switch, holding it with both parts of the tool?
Man, Round 4 is taking foreeevvvveeerrrr!! Where's mah tools!?
Rofl. I bet if you guys keep hassling The_Beast, he'll never do it just to spite everyone :P
Well, Beast knows I want one of these things, so whenever he's ready to produce....Show Image(http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2012/12/18/10214422/gI_132389_shut_up_and_take_my_money_by_lolikips-d34yx16.png)
Let's go for wood handle inserts for R4! ;)
Can you use these tools on plate mounted switches?Yes if you are using a custom plate.
Is it still possible to get these..? Or do you have to buy it off people who have already bought them?

I am in need of a pair! I need help to clean a board I bought of some guy who spilled some coke on it :(
I am a noobie and tried to open my switches with flat heads which ended up bending and disfiguring the plastic.

If the switches are plate mounted you have to desolder and remove them in order to open them.

If it is a plate that came stock with a keyboard then yes. The only way to open plate mounted switches without desoldering is if you have a plate with extra cutouts around the switches.
If you really need something to open your switches, you can make a comparable tool out of paper clips as seen in DanGWanG's video...
Before you ask, yes he is probably stoned in that video.
Is there another GB planned for this tool?

I'd be in for one, also something like this http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/others/135-cherry-switch-puller.html (http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/others/135-cherry-switch-puller.html) would be very handy. Pulling switches off a plate is PITA.

Hello! What about this ? two sticks with flatten works nice, no scratching the plate.

Yeah I already use a flat head screwdriver to do this but it's messy when all the switches are mounted to the plate and it's hard to get to each one.
Every time I've used flat heads I end up scratching the plate (even being very careful).
I have been using toothpics, and someone else mentioned using plastic spudgers like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/251849067295 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/251849067295)

I know right :p It does the job for now without scratching my plates, but I do plan on getting some of those spudgers eventually.
Look at the OP date
