March would probably be a better estimate. Tweaks to the case has been made and a prototype will be made after CNY.

As for kitting, most likely a universal plate will be kitted as part of the base purchase and PCB colors will be able to be chosen.

Oh boy, oh boy....now I need to start looking at different keycap sets. Which of the colors are looking to be in the finalized product? And uhh....I'm not going to look for an exact quote on the kit, but I am interested to get a rough over/under on how much my wallet will be crying.

+1 to this

Every keyboard should support split space bars imo. Yeah it can cause a lot of "extra" holes in the plate, but I would rather have multiple plates to solve that issue.

I'm waiting for the Mercutio, but I literally cannot wait to hear more news about this board.

Hopefully its in the 80-150$ price range, but if I must, I must.

Hey folks,

Just a quick update. Argyle is till in progress, following the build stream a few weeks ago we wanted to do one more revision of prototyping. This is currently in manufacturing but was delayed due to CNY. Once we get the final board in a few weeks Seoulcialite and I will provide more details on the GB.

I'm waiting for the Mercutio, but I literally cannot wait to hear more news about this board.

Hopefully its in the 80-150$ price range, but if I must, I must.

Sadly I can guarantee it will not be in this price range. Whilst we will endeavour to make it as affordable as we can, this is still a fully CNC machined case, with some complex geometries for window fitment etc. This can't be produced in a good enough quality at a price point as low as some lasercut acrylic cases.

That being said we will do a PCB only option in some form I'm sure for those that like the Gingham / Mysterium style choices which should be in that price range.

also i was wondering if a discord server was going to be made for argyle soon. if possible, i'd just like a place to talk about this board and what other projects you can bring into the future after argyle

I dont believe Seoulcialite has a discord server, but you can always drop in for a chat on the prototypist server (link at top of page at prototypist.net)

Sweet! Thanks for the reply! It's awesome that you also plan on having the pcb/budget option as well! Totally understandable that it would cost more than that, and tbh, I'll most likely buy the main kit for myself and the budget for a friend :p

The PCB has holes, and you have can hand solder the components much easier. Many PCBs have SMD components, which are easy for a pick and place machine, but through hole soldering is way more fun doing it by hand. It is just the extra step DIY to say it short. (However many machine-assembled PCB still have TH parts, but I think you get the point)

I see. Hence the PCB's bigger footprint right? Because components are soldered on individually instead of "printed/soldered" to the surface of the board? (btw, sick keyboard in your signature)

Exactly. The Discipline65 and Mysterium TKL by coseyfrutti have a similar approach

I'm very excited for this keeb! Jae on the stream said the GB might be shooting for late February. Is this accurate-ish? I might've just been hallucinating since I was very tired.

Also, when the GB goes live, will we be able to mix and match the colors of cases with PCBs, or will they be sold as kitted units?

March would probably be a better estimate. Tweaks to the case has been made and a prototype will be made after CNY.

As for kitting, most likely a universal plate will be kitted as part of the base purchase and PCB colors will be able to be chosen.

Well, we're halfway through march, so I think its a safe time to ask, are you still shooting for a GB this month?

We're at the mercy of the manu unfortunately. We are still waiting for the 2nd prototype but ready to go full speed once we confirm it is satisfactory.

This idea is really cool. But I don’t think you should have argyle on the PCB. It really forces a distinct design style to the board that will clash with tons of keyset styles.
this. get rid of it

As a counterpoint on the PCB design; the argyle goes with the theme, the backside engraving, and it's printed in white. So I'm personally a fan of this and hope it makes it to final production.

I'll have no problem finding a keyset to run on this.

What's the new ETA for argyle now? also i kinda agree with removing the argyle design on the pcb. it ruins the simplicity of the keysets. still rooting for argyle to go into gb tho!

For what it’s worth, I love the argyle pattern on the PCB.
The more unique distinctiveness a keyboard has, the better.
Once you start taking those elements away they all start looking the same.

Will it be possible to use o-rings to burger mount the plate? It would be really nice if the case could accommodate this. Additionally, is there any chance of seeing the plate design/where the mounting points will be?

As for the PCB, I'll echo what others have said—split space support would be excellent.

Looking forward to the next proto, hope it goes well!

I'd have to disagree. I think the design is very refined, and might look a bit childish or silly with extravagant colors. I think a black, silver, dark grey, or navy blue would be amazing colors for this board.
