[IC] 1.8mm LEDs
« on: Thu, 02 July 2015, 23:56:56 »
Hi, was looking into running a GB for 1.8mm LEDs, and I would be getting them from an aliexpress store. Available colors:
Yellow

Green

Red

Blue

White

Pink

These are about 2c-5c each, and each has an MOQ of 1000.
I am sure I could get the price lower if I talk to the supplier, which I will try and do while the IC runs.

Who is this guy? Can we get a mod in here and stop him posting please?

100x both white and blue please :)
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Yes! These are actually shorter, so you shouldn't have any clearance issues like some 3mm and 2x3x4mm rectangle LEDs

Sorry for what is probably a non-technical question, but are these rectangular with a small round dome sticking out?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I guess it depends how tight you placed your SIP sockets.

Some of the 1.8mm LEDs I got from this vendor on eBay (colorfulplace888) had some minor defects in the plastic molding so those ones were painful to swap !

Talk to them and see what the price is when you reach 10,000 because that should be fairly easy to reach. I was getting quoted about half a cent each from one of my suppliers.

A very rough count is at least 1100 of each colour, plus maybe another couple of hundred for most of the colours.

Very MOQ passed :)
