can you talk about how you went about doing the holtite installation/which holtites you used? i think i want to do something similar...
I used these:
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/8134-HC-8P3/A114359-ND/1151726 .
They're tiny. I used tweezers to place them in the holes, and pressed them in with a soldiering iron. The heat didn't seem helpful until I tried with it cold, but it does.
You can see them sticking out of the back of the board in the second picture. You'll note I'm using a PCB vice. When I was putting them on the Tx84 board, the ones in the middle of the board tended to snap in with a slight click I could feel. I got the feeling this is what is supposed to happen - I think it was because in the middle, the board could flex. I'm not sure if using the correct tool would get that 'snap' everywhere.
I also placed the switches twice because of stupidity. When pulling them out, a couple switches pulled sockets out. I just reseated those, but it is probably a sign that I wasn't using enough pressure the first time around. In the future, I intend to make sure I pull switches over a clean, bright surface. They're very easy to lose.
Finally, specific to these PCBs - there are several bottom-row holes in which these won't fit, as well as a couple that overlap other holes enough as to make them unsocketable.
