Really curious how the thick plate & gasket mount will play together? I know with a plate that thick flex is out of the picture, but I'm assuming it'll really help with sound. Which will probably be wildly different between the PC & brass plates. Awesome work Zamb, really looking forward to this hopefully being my first custom 1800!

I think zambumon wants to make really durable board for actually using in office (bashing it) :D because funny enough you like compact boards at home but sometimes want tons of button when at work

Imagine having Fusion 360 open and doing a google image search to see other people's gasket designs only to find the exact board you have in your head has already been designed by someone who actually knows what they're doing. Would love to see more bottom row options but I totally get why an unlimited run hotswap board wouldn't support that.

Looks awesome.

This keyboard looks cool, but I find it hard to see it as a productivity instrument with so few bottom row keys since they all (including Super) have some use to many people.

You can just remap the bottom row to your liking.

And it's stupid easy to re-program them to whatever you want using VIA as well.

Interested depending on price.

It's a big board, with a curvy bottom piece, internal weight, and a 4.75mm milled plate. There are not really many compromises with the construction of this board.

Beautiful design but what is it with "custom" boards that do not allow any layout variety and come completely fixed? I would be in the market for a compact "full-size" but this product is clearly meant for our friends in the US.

Oh my lord I'm fcking drooling, there is no way in all hell that I don't get this, unless the prices comes out to like 700+, in which case I'll probably get still get it but with tears streaming down my face. Awaiting price announcements now lol

The only thing that hurts is lack of winkey, but I'll probably reprogram something else - maybe f13, since I don't know what it is

Maybe this is not relevant to the topic, but I guess somebody somebody can help me a little bit:

Is there any other custom KB out there like this Sar, 60-65% keyboard with integrated numpad, but without the F rows? So far I only see Aegis Ext 65, but it's impossible to get it..

I think the Flex Apogee is like you described, but with Southpaw (numpad on left). I’m wondering whether there will be a conventional (numpad on right) option as well, but I think that requires a wholly different PCB...

EDIT: Yes, the IC says there will be a normal config. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=106299.0 . The IC has been quiet for weeks now. But last I heard, Flx was still going to do this.

There is another Southpaw board as well. Going to search...

EDIT: It’s the Wyvern: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=105187.0 . Please note this one is Southpaw only. The GB for Wyvern seems imminent.

Actually I have no problem with Southpaw! And I also already saw that IC and follow it.
For the keyboards mentioned above, a quick check on Reddit r/mm returns me either no one selling them, or they are selling at $1500+ which is something a I cannot afford :(

So yeah, I will definitely follow this Sar. And also Zambumon's Fisterra :)

Good to know you like it!

Regarding the boards I first suggested, you won’t find either on r/mm, since they haven’t reached GB yet. The Wyvern is still in IC on Geekhack, as is the Flx Apogee.

As mentioned before, I suggest joining the Discord for the Wyvern, they sound almost ready to start the GB.

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=105187.0
https://www.mysticworks.xyz/discord

The Apogee is one of my first favourites in the hobby, the curves seem beautiful to me. But it’s been idle for a while, it looks like Flx is quite busy with other things at the moment.

All indications are that the GB will still happen though.

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=106299.0

By all accounts, Flx is an outstanding designer, I hope I have the budget for the Apogee when it happens.

I think the other boards will probably be quite pricey on r/mm, yes.

We are waiting for parts to be re-anodized. In the meantime, I have tested a cerakoted assembly with the 4.75mm brass plate. I'm happy with the typing sounds and the feel of the keyboard.
