When all the "case-builders" are requiring there own plates, does it make sense than to order a plate here? Just cannot see anybody doing a case for this plate. Or do I overlook something?

Well there are a few cases already on the market that these plates will fit into such as a Filco TKL.

Every single plate was designed with a case in mind.  There is no way to divorce plate design from case design.

These plates are designed to fit Filco, PLU, and CM quickfire cases that already exist. Full metal cases require their own plate tailored to fit the case. You can take a gamble on whether a future aluminum case will go into production, and speculate on the price, but just know that those case/plate combo alone will be ~$200 or more. If you don't think you can afford that (assuming they will be made), then grab this plate and a cheap CM quickfire or PLU.

Just buy a plate from this GB.  The price is way more than reasonable (honestly, it's probably the cheapest group buy I've ever partook in).  If the GH full metal case + plate comes to fruition you could always rebuild your phantom.

BTW guys, this deal was just posted on this forum. You can currently get the quickfire for $55 to use the case for these phantoms. It's currently the cheapest compatible case. Bonus is you also get switches, keycaps, cable, and accessories. Even if you don't use it for phantom, this the cheapest I've seen.

i may sound stupid asking this but are you 150% sure this QR case will fit the phantom and this plate. if that is the case ill understandably cancel my PLU orders from Prof and grab 2 of these. $80(x2) vs 55(x2) shipped is too big of a difference to ignore, plus its less stuff prof has to send me :)

bah going to bed now, no time to order, hopefully this deal is still there when i log back in

edit: went ahead and got the quickfires

Sorry for this,

I filled out this form early and i don't think that this option was there but please have my plates go to Prof so that he can ship it with my other parts.

Also for my 2 WFD Plates in my order, i forgot what i selected at the bottom, so

1st choice: WFD125
2nd Choice: HHK150
3rd Choice: Nothing, I already have 2 ANSI125 plates in my order i don't need 4.

It occurred to me that of the custom plates, WFD's WFD125 would still work in most available cases. I really don't want to custom build a case, so that sold it for me.

Hey guys, orders are closing tonight and we're moving into payment. Check your orders here to make sure it's correct:

http://goo.gl/1TIlw

There are about 160 PCBs ordered, but only about 130 plates. Just to mention again that phantom PCB requires a plate for mounting of switches and case. If money is the issue, you can just grab the PCB and plate because these are a one time run, while all other parts (switches, teensy, case, etc) can be bought any time to finish the build later. The only other reason I can think of for not order a plate is if you've already have a plate from Dan, but there were only 20 of them.

And I'm actually ordering MORE plates than I ordered PCBs. I think what may be holding some people back is boost's alu case design with integrated plate.

I'll just say this, there is no real reason NOT to buy one of these plates for every PCB you ordered, unless you only ordered extra PCB in case you screw one up. They are cheap as hell, especially for a stainless steel plate. And even if you want to wait a few months for boost's alu case, what are you losing by buying one of these? $22?

Phantom was designed to be highly customizable in regard to layout options. If you want to change layouts later, you could desolder the switches and do that, if you had another plate.

Poor choice of words, but would you say, "These are inexpensive as hell..."?

Not cheaply made, by any means. Really quality work. I prefer the stainless plate over an aluminum plate any day.

They were the cheapest price I got from the 13 local places around  me, and it took quite a bit of emails to haggle for options and prices. I even drove there to meet up with one of the guys.

Just to add on to this, I'll probably get the case/plate combo boost it designing if it makes it all the way through final production, and price is below $250. But if you're putting all your eggs in one basket on that aluminum case and it doesn't make it to GB stage or if cost is too high, you can't go back and get a cheap plate to go with a plastic case. Beast might do a small run, but I won't be.

Come on PRF125 only 5 more plates needed!

if we're almost at 15, people from that plate's sub-group can buy up the rest and cost is split between the subgroup.

I'm game - currently it works out at about $30 instead of $22 - and if we get the four from jdcarpe's HHK150 then we'll only be a plate shy...

I think the ANS125 plate should work with the PCB, but you won't be able to mount it onto the specific  A.87 case. You might be able to mount the whole ANS125/A.87 combo into a Filco or CM quickfire with a little modding to the plastic case though. These plates are not really PCB specific as long as the layouts match, but they ARE specific to the case they're designed for.

I manually changed your order.
