Oh, damn, infiniti.  That's a pretty *****in' submission. :thumb:

I'm going to extend this contest for another week to see if we can get more people involved.  Maybe if I actually post a photo of the prize...people will be enticed; though, I was hoping the holiday spirit would be a good enough motivation.

Appreciate that, Bunny.  For those that don't know, I am almost never here on the weekends.  My schedule is pretty hammered on Sat-Sun due to personal and family matters.

I do want to thank those that have kept this on topic and are submitting entries.  I love them all and it does bring a smile to my face to see people participating.  As I said earlier, I shall extend this one week until 12/20 at Midnight PST.  I'm hopeful that there will be more submissions.  As I said in my initial blog post, one of the aims of this blog is to foster a greater sense of community.  While some aren't into that - and that's fine - I believe that there are plenty of others that are.  I'm excited to see what others can come up with for this contest.

And an aside, tomorrow's blog post may be a bit late but it'll be up at some point tomorrow.  I'm not usually this busy but the last month has been hell.

That was absolutely fantastic!
Before this, I was constantly lurking the front page of Reddit and Imgur.
Now, I find myself deeply entangled in this community. My wallet probably hates me for it, but I find it fantastic to have found such a place!
It was about a year before I actually joined in on conversations on GeekHack and it has been fantastic!  :thumb:

Sent should I post more? ;)

In all seriousness though Geekhack, like many other things you may be involved in, is only as meaningful to you as you make it. You already spend a lot of time here. Why not contribute some more? You never know what might come of it. Maybe you'll teach someone something new. Maybe you'll discover a new hobby or passion. Maybe you'll meet someone(s) cool. Or maybe you'll just feel more of a sense of ownership and self-worth. But you won't know until you dive in.

Personally I've made a lot of friends here, learned a **** ton about many different topics, discovered new hobbies, and had much fun fumbling through DIY projects. It's been a good ride so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what 2015 has in store.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I finally had a read at the blog since I've been busy today for the most part.

I'm not one to speak up, only when spoken to. I find that a big problem when it comes to me joining communities (which I've done only a handful of times in my few years) because I dont get involved or because it's a new community and it dies out because of it.

I feel I don't really have friends here and that I cant go ask for help or anything because I'm still new here. I say I'm still new here, because there is someone like Sent, who has been here around the same time that I have, but has had a big influence on the community and I'm over here still lurking and only posting when I'm involved in something such as a GB.
There are many helpful people here and I find it very intimidating to ask because I feel I should know more than I do. Something is wrong with me >.>

Getting to the point, joining this contest and reading the blog is a big push toward getting out there and being more involved.

Thanks Sent.

You know, since you brought it up, I've received a few PM's where people refer to me as "somebody" or a "vet" but in truth, I feel as new/noob as the day I joined.  Well, okay, maybe less so, but not by much.  It took me a while to speak up, too.  I was really intimidated by certain people and I still am, not because they're aggressive or mean, but because they just know so much more than me about everything keyboard related.  In any case, I'm not sure if I can help, but if you ever want a sounding board or a second opinion asdfjkl36, shoot me a PM. :thumb:

Yea. My fault of course, i just feel embarrassed. Definitly useful on cutting down repeated questions because there are multiple things i've been questioning that I do a quick search and find someone who has already asked the same thing and someone has answered it.

I SERIOUSLY have it backwards. That's for sure.

But I think it's more of a thing about not wanting to embarrassed myself in front of people I look up to / want to be liked.

Thanks to you guys, i'm more comfortable.

That was easy™

But I think it's more of a thing about not wanting to embarrassed myself in front of people I look up to / want to be liked.

Thanks to you guys, i'm more comfortable.

That was easy

You're already talking to demik.  He's a scary guy.  You're fine, bud.

Coming out of my shell to say that I enjoy your writing, Sent.

Also, @CPTBadAss: What's up in Cinci? Are you Courage Crew or SOSF??

Now, this is what I like to see.  New people I don't know speaking up! :thumb:  Glad to see you here, sir.

I lurk certain parts of the forum too much. I should lurk less.

Also, if you have questions you think are dumb, alerts feel free to PM someone with a high post count. Even TP4 and demik are nice when you PM them. Everyone likes PMs.

So that blog post is encouraging people to post more.

Is that right?

You want more posts?

From GH members?

That can be arranged.

Be afraid ... be very afraid ...

;) :))

Meh posting more is overrated. :P

Lol, I don't **** with crews. I just go to a lot of shows and hang out :). Cincy hardcore scene is actually pretty cool. Cincy metal scene is a bit lacking :(.

Participating makes my palms even more sweaty than usual and gives me flashbacks to a chubby middle-school Booper getting rejected at dance team tryouts.

Sigh...

Awwww yeaaaahhhh the onesie!  I also had no idea that you had so many boards already, Booper.  Loving the Christmas card vibe I'm getting from this sub.  These entries are all so damn good.  Quality, for sure.
