Started listening to chiptune again - it's been about 5 years since I last listened to it, and since I've found some good artists - http://www.shemusic.org/?page_id=56 being one of them.

Apart from that, Mastodon - The Hunter, a few good tracks, but it's no Leviathan or Blood Mountain.

Recently I've been listening to a lot of http://www.slayradio.org/home.php .  C64 remixes... I was always more in to the later MOD scene then the C64, but have yet to find a good MOD station.  Either way, good chip tunes are good.

The title of the video has to do with the fact that Sylvie Vartan was perhaps the first and most famous of the "yeye girls" during the 1960s. But the song is a French-language cover of a big Irene Cara hit from a later period:



And while we're on the subject of French cover versions, Françoise Hardy turned this ballad sung by Margaret Whiting and Vera Lynn into a big hit in this cool and bouncy version.

Except for "I'm A Woman" made famous by Peggy Lee, I can't seem to put my finger on any similar songs in English. But I'm sure there were such songs - songs where the singer belts out that she is one tough lady even though she's petite and pretty.

I have extremely eclectic tastes so I will keep this to just one genre for this post.  I don't like very much "rap" at all but I love pure "hip hop" music without the vocals, especially when it is allowed to submerge into other cultures around the world.

DJ Krush is a monument of hip hop ecstasy just doing regular music but when he mixes elements of his own culture into it, the sound is just amazing!
