What's funny is people go crazy for Handerbeit which, to me, is even more god awful since it's actually trying to take itself seriously.

The Asians seem to love it in spades.  Because anything actually produced by the Cherry Factory all those years ago is so desired now and is quite valuable.

GMK is the sole manufacturer that nearly every hard-core asian fanatic loves PLUS having an ULTRA rare key-set helps to further attract more interest from the fanatics out there, including myself.

I maybe the only non-asian that loves the Handerbeit to death since it represents a part of important keyboard history deserving resurrection today  8) .

Doesn't change the fact that it still looks like utter ****.  Anyways, this thread isn't the place to talk about it (as I've said in the past) since this thread isn't about it.

Was Handarbeit originally made by GMK?

Maybe they'd make a few sets with lower MOQ as part of their history.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Can someone post a pic of Handerbeit? I've never heard of it.

Edit: Also Nubb a slimmed down version sounds good, I'd buy it either way.

I made something similar for my QFR a while back, I called Rowdybeit.

I found it surprisingly usable!

Again, take Handerbeit talk elsewhere.  It wouldn't hurt if a mod cleaned it out of here.

If you wanted to try to make it appeal to a wider audience something like this might be a option:

I don't know how I missed out on this for so long...

Absolutely love the set nubbs!  :-*
I get the design 100% and wouldn't make any (serious) changes to it tbh!

I'm honestly confused why people keep bringing up that handarbeit...

Unicorn = Way more manly imo!  :thumb:

This is the way to go if we want bigger numbers.

Be prepared though a lot of folks there want "minimalism" and "modern" for their boards. Complimentary bump as well.  :D

And JT Keycaps to reduce the cost?

It's an odd mix of old school Crayola Crayon box colors and pastels that don't mix well.  I was never keen on the random colors.

Of course, who am I to say anything with the ridiculous colorway you see here.

I am on the fence about getting the white/purple set as I actually have funds that I set aside for it, but if this is going to be round 2, I might have to hold off.

I made a Rowdybeit out of mostly Tai Hao plus a few others.  It was surprisingly close to the original.  And it was surprisingly usable!

Is this set going to be round 2 for JTK?
I am on the fence about getting the white/purple set as I actually have funds that I set aside for it, but if this is going to be round 2, I might have to hold off.

Bunny said he's going to push for this to be the fourth set.

Awesome news!

Awesome news indeed, this as a JT Caps Set would be a dream!
Count me in, need that Manly Unicorn in my life!  :thumb:

That doesn't mean that you can't own it.  Put it on another board and allow it to slowly up your manliness in small daily doses until you reach the proper levels to use it as your main set.  Dolch and beige sets will always be around to look pretty, but this set will instill you with supreme power.

wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

If you're staring at your keyboard, you're doing it wrong.

What the f***?  If Mattel made a Barbie keyboard, it would straight up be this s***.  So why do I keep coming back to this thread?  How the hell did so much hair suddenly grow on my chest?  And for god's sake, why is there no tangerine (V2 in OP image) in this set!?  You couldn't fit it into the backspace or enter key?

100822-1

And where are the novelty keys?

Isn't the whole point of this set to be looked at?  To quote the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, "if the eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being".  Besides, if this set encourages the typist to stare at the keys while typing, it may actually reduce typing mistakes.

The tangerine keys are interesting, at least as options, but I must agree 1000% on the novelty keys... We need a manly unicorn key. I didn't think a custom legends were that expensive unless you do it on every single key.
