To be honest, I'm not sure. I think Black with the SNES lavender color looks rather nice, but it might look okay with RGB or famicom RGBY, though I'm not japanese or european so the Famicom colors don't really resonate as much with me as the SNES purple and lavender. I do have a Club Nintendo Classic SNES controller for my Wii that I got from the UK that uses the PAL-region's famicom colored buttons, but that's about it.

I think I'd prefer lavender for the black keys if I had to give a straight answer.

This keycap set is making me seriously question my Alpsuality. Man, oh man. Yep, this is going to go on my Octagon v2 and I'm gonna get Silver + Titanium grey for the Octagon. This just changed all my plans. Hoooooly crap.

I'm ready to say hello to my first GMK key cap GB purchase. Finally something that has enough pull to seriously blow my mind and ready my wallet.

I was into ALPS several years ago and then, I learned there was no high quality key caps for ALPS, later I found that Cherry double shots are some of the best key caps you can use and that they are only available for Cherry mount, since then, I changed to Cherry and I am very happy now, typing on this super nice OGs. This SNES will be my first full GMK set.

It will be a long time before we get anything near the level of thickness as GMK/JTK or BSP/Gateron, but there are some OG doubleshots and dye subs that are I'd say .5mm shy of the thickness of the Cherry equivalent. Thick for Alps, kinda thick for Cherry. Strangely, the thick ABS Alps caps seem to heighten the pitch (compared to the Tai Hao DS caps). PBT definitely lowers it.

Yeah, this set is gonna be great. It's creating almost the same spark that Jukebox and the prospect of having a red Octagon did in combination. Now having a Silver Octagon with a Titanium Grey alu base + this set is just calling to me. Ahh, I'm so hopeless in this hobby!

Bcck in the days of my ALPS, I got a Focus 2001 keyboard that had very nice double shots, one of the best I was able to get, however they were still thin, maybe on par with SP DCS but nothing close to GMK.

Today is the 25 year anniversary of the Super Famicom.

In August 2016, it will be the 25 year anniversary of the Super Nintendo.

Maybe this GB should be labeled the "25 Year Anniversary Super Nintendo GMK GB"?

Yeah, there aren't many thick Alps caps out there, but there was one particular manufacturer (maybe Alps themselves? IDK) who put out pretty thick caps.

These are the highest quality caps I've yet to find on any Alps board. Doubleshot ABS and Dye-subbed PBT shown next to GMK ABS and Gateron PBT in Cherry profile.

http://imgur.com/a/vi8ts

An album with a few more pics and some measurements of the thickest sides on each cap. The Alps DS cap is surprisingly thick on one side, but the tinnest side is .89mm so it has a lot of variance. The PBT alps cap is overall thicker on average.

I'd say they're not too far off from GMK/JTK or BSP/Gateron

Yeah, I can see this happening, especially for those of us who are po' and yet try to get all the shiny things. :P I try to be very reserved about key cap buys because of the sheer amount of them.

Yeah one of the downsides of MD running SA keysets every month and new players like JTK being run is that you have to be pretty loaded to be able to afford it all

I'm pretty sure that the Black Friday sale is kind of like the Massdrop Bazaar - just selling off extra stock rather than new GBs

I kind of hope not though, I'm going to go to sleep in like.. right now.. and those Bazaar items that are really nice usually sell out really fast. But oh well, still looking forward to what it will be :)

That's what it looks like to me as well.

As for the GB numbers on MD - it doesn't matter all that much, plus it's a GMK set so it won't be as cheap as SP sets are. TA was like... 99 even after it hit the lowest price point, right?

Bars (F & J)

Scoops (F & J) - curves are a bit more pronounced

Uh, for the uninitiated what are bars and scoops?

The homing keys of the keyboard (F and J) are usually made to feel different than other keys so touch typists can easily find their way to the home row position
On most keyboards this is done through bars/nibs - a raised bar shape portion of the keycap surface below the legend

On scoops, there is no bar but instead the homing keys are shaped more convexly, like a U shape on top rather than the flat --- shape of other keys

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks you guys, perhaps the definition of this vernacular could be added somewhere?

I couldn't find it on the Deskthority - tried to seem less stupid.

You'll pick it up after a while  :D

'Scuse the off topic, but I think this is his actual 1000th post (the later ones were in the off topic section).

As I got no answer last time I'll try again ;)

Any chance for iso keys (enter and left shift) in the mod-pack? I would love the mod-pack, but I think it would look kinda weird without those keys on an ISO board.

Why aren't there RGBY options for the Arrow keys?
