Loving all these build pictures rolling in now that everyone is receiving their boards. Xondat has definitely been an absolute perfectionist, because, by the looks of things, the finishing issues are reported to be extremely minor. Hyped for Wodan's build video!

This. Xondat had me way to worried, but my God he apparently is just crazy picky with QA. All said and done the boards are beautiful. Can't wait to have mine in hand.

Got mine today, and so far it looks very good.
I'll have to look it over better tonight when I get time.

Thanks Xondat  :)

How so? I'm using them with no problem. They're PCB mount so make sure you're not plate mounting.  :p

I know :D
I think the problem for me is how deep the "screws" should go into the spacebar.
I feel like I have a bit left before they sit right, but if I push them up, the pins won't go in their holes.
Also, should the clips be on top be inside or below the hole?

Thought id share some things from my endeavour,

Those interested in using tmk firmware with the bface pcb provided by xondat, can find it here:

https://github.com/ageaenes/tmk_keyboard/ cudos to luizribeiro for getting the mini to work wit tmk.

in order to get the pcb into boot mode, i had to create a manual left shift shorter by not having a left shift(hhkb)

hopes this were to some help for someone :) if you have any questions, feel free to pm.

Hi,

I've just received my case. The damage is really minor so I am really happy.

But right now I feel really stupid. I start my build. And I have a major issue with 6.25 spacebar, the pcb mount cherry stabilizer doesn't fit. It is too large for the cutout on the ISO universal plate.

There is no indication on the first post. But does this plate supposed to be used with plate mount stab ???
I've never saw plate mount stab so I am not good to recognize the right cutout.

Did you put the stabilizer on the pcb before you started putting switches  and the plate over the pcb?

To clarify Tally's statement - PCB mount stabilizers need to be installed before the plate is installed - otherwise it will not fit.

Assuming you've soldered everything, you *might* be able to get away with using screw-in stabilizers without desoldering (probably not though, just throwing an option out there). I do not believe the plate is made to fit plate mount stabilizers.

If screw-in stabilizers don't work, I don't know what to tell you besides desoldering everything to install the stabilizers on the PCB.

I didn't solder just try to fit everything before. So I put it on the PCB and then I try to put the plate on it (not my first build, I am used to 60% PCB and universal plate for "classic" case).

The 7u spacebar with PCB mount stab work fine but the right stab doesn't fit well for the 6.25u spacebar. I really have to force it to make it fit. I am afraid it will be too tight to let the stab work properly.

I tried costar stab (plate mount) and it works.

Xondat, does the cutout supposed to work with pcb mount cherry stab ?

Thanks

Sounds to me like you just need to get a 6.25u stabilizer wire.

Picture will be easier to understand than my bad english.

It is an original Cherry pcb stab to fit inside this hole i had to force it into and i loose plastic on the side of the stab.

I also have a steel plate and it is much harder to fit it into. I loose a generous slice of plastic...

I also have more rigid transparent stab and it is impossible to fit them into even if they have the same size as Cherry ones. The plastic of the cherry is more flexible.

I guess this cutout need an extra mm or an half mm.

I had similar issues with plated that I've cut in the past using swills tool output. The actual size of stabiliser housings tend to vary a bit from batch to batch. You're better off either sanding the plate or the stab body slightly

My heart sunk when I couldn't unscrew the last two bolts. Both have a slightly bigger holes so my screwdriver just can't do anything. Now my X60 is just a beautiful kit that I can't open up. I might look for other screwdrivers in my local bike shop but I don't have other solutions I can think of. Any help would be appreciated.  :( :( :(

I had the same problem with one of my screws.  I went to Home Depot and got this thing called Easy Out or something.  They are designed to fix this problem.  In theory, you screw it into the top of the socket and it grips the screw and then you unscrew it.  But it didn't really work for me.  I could have been using it wrong for all I know because I have zero experience with stuff like this.  What ended up working is I found a torx driver that was just barely (BARELY) slightly bigger than the sockets and hammered it in and used that to unscrew it.  I think the size was T10.  Hope that helps!  Replacement screws are M3 since you're going to need those as well, and I also found those in the bins at Home Depot.

Don't know how well it'll work with a hex head, but you could try putting a thin rubber band in between the driver and the head of the screw to pad out the sizing and add some grip.

Built my board and just wanted to say thanks for the great work Xondat. And I'm guessing there will be a new extra plate form since a lot has changed since the first one went out. When should we expect the new form and will it have the same options for plates as the initial form?

Anyone know if there are any hhkb slots left? I know I'm late but it can't hurt to ask.

Yes, my spot is available. Though I am not sure where it's listed right now. The case is silver the plate is red and has a pcb and of course hhkb layout

Edit : sorry the case is already a refunded spot, sorry

My heart sunk when I couldn't unscrew the last two bolts. Both have a slightly bigger holes so my screwdriver just can't do anything. Now my X60 is just a beautiful kit that I can't open up. I might look for other screwdrivers in my local bike shop but I don't have other solutions I can think of. Any help would be appreciated.  :( :( :(

Are you trying to use an inch series hex wrench to undo a metric bolt? That would be why you're having difficulties. Go buy yourself a set of metric hex wrench, they are cheap as chips. IIRC Xondat uses M3 socket head bolts for this case.

A cursory Amazon search yields a few thousand applicable results. This is one random listing from the big results page: https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-Wrench-Metric-13-Piece-25272/dp/B00I5THFR4/ref=sr_1_3?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1501365099&sr=1-3&keywords=metric+allen+wrench+set

Got mine just now, and frankly it looks incredible. To anyone still waiting on theirs, trust when I say that Xondat is a ridiculous perfectionist and you will be happy with your board.
