Update 2017/5/4 :
Silent Red is not enough...
When we packing the switches.
We found too many people order silent red which is much more than IC form...
They're not enough even we packed all the switches we plan to sell for retail on our store.
So some of orders include Silent red will delay :(
The queue is FIFO depends on order date.

The other issues is we made a mistake on mounting type of clear.
We ordered PCB mount but list plate mount T_T
We've send mail to guys who ordered switches :)
Please check your mail, if you didn't receive it, please send us message.

Update 2017/5/1 :
Thank you guys.
This GB has ended and we've started shipping this week.
But just get info from Cherry representative that Linear Gray deliver date will delay.
So orders include Linear Gray has to ship later.
Sorry for that :(

GB link here : https://shopkey.doyustudio.com/005swcgb
FB link of this GB : https://www.facebook.com/douystudio/posts/789562617869841

We're going to order some switches.
And some of them is going to put on this GB, 120 pcs each pack.
Include :
1. RGB Cherry silver ($46, 0.383/pc)
2. Non RGB, plate mounted silence red.($48, 0.4/pc)
3. Non RGB, plate mounted Clear (not sure now, 53, 0.44/pc)
4. Non RGB, plate mounted Linear Gray ($40, 0.333/pc)

We made an IC for this GB.
Most people interested in Silver and Silent Red.
But not many people interested in Clear and Linear Gray.
We'll order them anyway, the quantity might limited.
I guess IC not only reflect trend on Geekhack, but also on the market of all people -0-.
We don't want to stock too many items that might not able to sell out for over 1 year.

This GB will end on 4/30 23:59, 2017 (UTC +8)
And start to ship from May 1, 2017.
Ship by small pack, DGM, air pack or DHL.

Since we've ran another Cherry switches GB around Dec 2016.
So we only provide types that do not show in last one.

If shipping fee is > $10 for single pack, mean there might has some error.
Please contact us, include quantity, country in the message to help us spot what cause the issue :)
If you have any question, leave comment here.
Or send us a mail : sy_yang@doyustudio.com, sales@doyustudio.com, or send message to Facebook page.

We received some feedback about other switches.
Like silent black, PCB mount RGB...etc
But the quantity in too low for us :(
For example, it hard for us to sell 2 cases of plate mounted MX Black each year.(16000 pcs)
But, the quotation we get is ask us for 20000 pcs MoQ.
It's way too far compare to the MoQ if we order those switches(Maybe only less than 10 people ask for each type 0.0).
This also means they're hard to sell on the market, so we have to deal with horrible stock if we run the GB for those switches.
We only order some to sell in our store for higher price, and the price might be too high to run a GB.
Anyway, we might do some IC later for those switches.
But in my opinion, possibility to run the GB is not high :(
Sorry for those who are looking for switches we didn't provide.

We'll also sell them with 10 pcs per pack on our site later after all GB orders shipped :)
But the price will be higher, or guys join GB has no reason to wait for.

Tempted to order some clears to try ergo clears; have these been made with the new tooling for the smoother feel? Or does that only apply to the linears?

Several guys ask about "new mod".
But in my opinion, I guess it is because of they are made in different factories.
Some factories using old one and some use new one.
Not related with the date they are made.
Some of my switches marks 2014 on the box and it's pretty smooth as the guy post about "new mod".

I've noticed MX Silver is really wanted, both here and on Reddit.
Is there anything special with these other than the clear rgb bottom and shorter actuation?

They're much faster.. just depends if you need to get your abilities off quicker than people with Red/Blacks..etc.

Travel distance and spring weight interest me.  It's a 45g actuation, but it'll bottom out different than a Cherry MX red.

Just joined for some MX Silent Reds. I'm lucky I got them in my Filco board in time to test them out. Only thing I'd like more is just the black stem for aesthetic reasons as I plan on doing spring and housing swaps anyway.

Trigger distance is short.
Bottom distance is short as well.
So they call it "speed".

I can't guarantee.
We haven't get it now.
I don't think sells will care about this issue and check switches for me...
They mainly deal with huge orders from factories -0-

May I ask about your VA88M 0.0?
Typing error or modify layout of origin VA87M?

Of course, it's the modified layout of the 87, the ISO layout. It can't possibly be mistaken because there is "VA88M" written on the box, case, and PCB!

Hello guys,

I tried placing an order on your site earlier but it seems there is a problem with the link to the GB page? It doesn't seem to work for me.

Could you please try and fix the site? I would quite like to buy some switches before the deadline is over! Thank you very much

Damn, that's a low threshold.

We claim 1/2 of real value for orders under $100.
And 1/3 for orders over 100.
Not sure if that's okay.

For Europe custom, most of they are really bothersome.

Although I claim only $50 USD
From company to customers:
From 0 to 22€ for small package you have a very low percentage that customs will open the package and charge you.
From 22€ to 150€ and for relatively large packages you have a high percentage that they will open it and charge VAT and handling, depending on country of destination, in Italy it's 22%.
Over 150€ they open and inspect the package and there's an additional tax which in English I think it's called duty and varies depending on the content of the package.

From person to person internationally:
From 0 to 45€ for small package there's a low percentage that they will open the package, and there's no tax.
Over 45€ is the same as from vendors to customers.

So either way you have to pay at least the VAT of the country of destination which in many European countries is above 20% value.

Are you sending them as 'gifts'?

For some countries, we can claim them as gift.
But for some, we can only claim as sample :(

Update 2017/5/4 :
Silent Red is not enough...
So some of orders include Silent red will delay

I only placed an order so I wouldn't have to wait long for these since they were shipping a few days after I placed the order. How long is the delay exactly and can I just refund since I'm not interested in waiting more than a few weeks?

Figure since I submitted my order for silent reds in the extend period my shipment will be delayed. No problem, just happy to have snuck my order in past the deadline. Maybe this justifies the demand for PCB mounted silent reds/blacks next time. There is hope!!

Just swap the springs and stems into PCB mounted switch bottoms.
BTW I'm tempted to grab some vintage Blacks from ebay and treating myself to some ghetto vintage Silent Blacks.
I also can't wait for these to arrive so I can start to build my PCB mounted board so I can put the Silent Red's stems into different springs and try them out.
I'm glad I was around for this GB.

The silence comes from the stem, so if you swap vintage blacks into the silent red housing, you dont get the same silent black effect

But I won't put black stems into silent housings, I'll put the Silent stems into Black springs. The housing can be random, as long as it's cherry PCB mount.

Because they say that they are extremely smooth.
Since lubing switches is a time-consuming and precision-heavy work, and I need to buy a batch of PCB mounted switches anyway, if I can find some already-buttery-smooth Blacks for the same price of brand new Blacks, I'm going to save myself the time and effort to lube them.
I'm new to mech boards so maybe this is the wrong solution.
I'm planning to put together a keyboard with PCB mounted Cherry switches. They must be: linear, dampened on the downstroke and upstroke, some light and some heavy, and not scratchy in feeling. And what I came up is this. I'm open to suggestions.

The stem is what makes the switch smooth. To prove that, I put a smooth cherry stem (the new ones, made with the new mold), inside an old cherry housing. The result is that the new stems are smooth also in the new housing. So you don't need vintage blacks, just buy the most recent cherry switches, they're already smooth without lubing..

I didn't know this. Thanks for the info.
So that's what you were saying in the new mold thread, I was convinced it was because of the spring and didn't see the reason to focus on the stems.

But how do I know that I'm buying the new stem from whatever mkb seller online apart from asking them and trusting their word? Or is there a surer way to buy the new stems that I'm too uninformed to know?

Any idea on the time line for delayed silent reds? I prefer pcb mount and if the delay length is close to the next GB I would be fine switching or refunding and repurchasing at a later date

Have to confirm next week.
And for Silence red, will still plate mounted.

It base on representative's order.
We can't decide now.
PCB mounted will be rarer.

DIY community is tiny compare to whole mech keyboard market.
Representative of Cherry here is mainly supply those factories.
Normally has only few PCB orders, and the leading time will be much longer than plate mounted.

It takes 2-3 days for tracking to go online usually. Say that the package has been in the courier's office for the weekend, it should be on the road in the next few days depending on priority and THEN the code would start registering movement.

Now that I'm here anyways I can also ask a question. Will leftovers be listed on your shop?

I find this odd. I bought a filco with silent reds a few months ago and they are definitely the scratchiest switches I've ever tried.  I like them, but smooth is the last term that comes to mind.  Maybe mine were somehow old stock?

My guess is that sometime after silents came out they updated the molds because these have the same glass feeling that I get with gaterons, minus the wobble. Feeling wise, wobble itself has never bothered me but sometimes, with GMK or DSA, I'll feel the switch "catch" halfway down.

I find this odd. I bought a filco with silent reds a few months ago and they are definitely the scratchiest switches I've ever tried.  I like them, but smooth is the last term that comes to mind.  Maybe mine were somehow old stock?

My filco with silent reds are as scratchy as hell too. :D

Lube them.

I'm planning to. Just feeling alittle lazy to desolder them. Should I sticker them too? :D

The fact that there are some silent switches are not smooth is a very bad news! All the silent switches that I have tried were very smooth. I hope that the switches from the gb are the smooth ones!

I remember reading a long debate about switch lubing and coming away with the idea that there is some benefit, but that the lube eventually all wears off down into the switch leaving you with the same scratchiness.

I've never lubed my switches, but did once lube my cherry stabilizers.  It was quite a revolutionary experience and I have now gone back and lubed all of the stabilizers on all of my boards.   Perhaps I need to try switch lubing.

Didn't receive a tracking no. yet (order 475).
Can you please hold back my order until "silent black" GB is over?

After a few months of use re-open the switches, clean every 'oily' and dusty surface with a q-tip as best as you can and re-lube them. I can't be arsed to retrieve the link right now, sorry.

You call lubing stabs 'revolutionary'? Holy s*, you should have seen my G80's, that was more of a mandatory work than revolutionary. XD

If you're going for looks go ahead. They can look pretty nice with some clear switch tops. As far as affecting switch feel, they don't do anything.

They were supposed to be going into this board

But I botched the desoldering this go round and I have another Satan in the mail...

At the very least, what I've felt of them is that they are smooth.

Hi,

any update on those Silenced Reds?

From the round 3 thread, he mentioned that the silent reds will be shipping in two weeks along with the silent blacks from round 3.

Hi,
There's a issue for silent red.
Silent black is deliver earlier.
But representative inform us silent red will has another week delay.
Which means the rest of orders will ship around late June.
And they made a mistake for RGB silver as well.
Seems Cherry shipped 51NN instead of 51NA.
So there's another week delay for silver as well.
But for most order contains silver only should already sent.

Does anyone have enough extra silver switches to cover a 60% board that they would be willing to sell me? Or know where to buy them?

If you find around 40 i should have 22 not used but desoldered (got them already soldered with a numpad)
