Man I wish I hadn't jumped on the Massdrop Planck GB... reckon I'll sell it when it arrives and get on the Anvil GB. How soon do you think that will start after Bullet ends?

Oh, good to see the buy going, great price. How does the white anoidizing work, didn't think it was really possible? Also, what is the black EDP plate?

Thanks man!

Anvil will be made to fit OLKB plate so you can sell just your casing from previous Planck's GB. Honestly I still don't know when exactly Anvil will start, but one thing for sure it is right after Bullet.

Thanks mate, really appreciate your participation :thumb:

It's not white like the pic I post on OP (the one on OP is powder coated). I write it 'silver white' because it's less silver compared to the silver of MacBook. EDP is powder coat process, the texture is a bit grainy, it usually used on firearms/airsoft gun. I'll post pics of the plate today, just got them in.

I actually liked the white powder coat on your prototype a lot and would go for that if it were available.
The lightest anodise sample seems pretty good in the picture but I feel I might find it too silvery/grey in person. Do you have the sample available to possibly take additional pictures in different lighting conditions or something?

I'm thinking to add the powder coat option too since it had been researched so why not offer it? Will properly photograph the chips again tomorrow and update the form. And you're right, if white is what we seek, no anodize will come close to white powder coat!

I believe senter is asking if the white color is done with micro arc oxidation (also known as Plasma electrolytic oxidation) which is a similar process to anodizing.

Ah I see. The one on gallery is done with Powder Coat, not anodize. The only way to achieve real white on aluminum is through powder coat.

Yep space gray is better. For a rule of thumb, generally it always be better to match the case color with alpha color, instead of modifier color.

When your say "upgrades" for the plate does that mean you will get that plate instead of the regular SS one? Or are they actually "extras" meaning you get both?

So is there just a universal plate that can handle both MIT and Grid layouts? I don't see a distinction in the form. If this has already been asked I apologize as I didn't see it.

The first, you are not going to get additional plate. But you can add more plates/PCB if you write it on the note :)

Done!

Those plates look interesting, what layouts are those plates made for?

The plate we will get is univerasl one, I designed it myself to accomodate Grid, MIT (but it can only use Cherry PCB stab), and even 1.25u bottom row—yes OLKB PCB support 1.25–1.25–1.25–1.25–2–1.25–1.25–1.25–1.25 or 1.25–1.25–1.25–1.25–1–1–1.25–1.25–1.25–1.25 bottom row!

Sorry if the Black EDP make it looks like the plate have options, the Black EDP is OLKB plate which I use for EDP sample.

When is the white painted option going to be added to the form?

I've updated it now, the photograph will added later after I get the red powder coat (I left it at my friend's house..)

You will need switches, keycaps and a cable. Yes the plate is Mx and Alps compatible, so it does support zealios which are a mx variant.

I can't say anything regarding powder coat as my current powder coat vendor have a very limited amount of color. And any order on new color must be on a galon so they only restock a popular color (white and black). However, I really want to add gray matte and ivory/beige color in powder coat. Anvil case on beige is really a killer!

Are andize / powder coat color modified when Anvill happend?
I'm wondering which one to choose.

Modified as in? Do you mean the current finish option remain available on Anvil GB?

I apologize for any confusion.

Pardon me for the long silence. This is my first GB so after the payment ended I quickly jump on to the vendors, procuring materials, and etc etc and stupidly forget to put the infos here lol.

So now the CNC order is placed and the Aluminum was cut to blocks, materials for plate was bought, PCB ordered and rubber feet was already stocked!

However, the CNC paused from a week ago until a week later now due to Eid Mubarak (yes Eid Mubarak in Indonesia is the longest holiday here because more than 90% is Islam, and most of them are homecoming).

So I wil inform again when the CNC began! Hopefully with some photos and videos ;)

Happy Ied Mubarak for whoever celebrates it!

Is there any change on the case design?
The indents for the rubber feet seems different from the prototype.

Just take it as late Sept since it's better to underpromise than over. Nobody wants delay like this, including me  :(

Ah the indents is tweaked a bit so the bigger rubber feet (to make it inclined) can have a better hold.

Pardon me for the pause on the update, I just get back from shooting in remote areas :-X

The timeline is moved to the end of September, at the fastest. I'm really sorry about this, this is due to some of the anodizing process is become sub-standard and I like to make some correction on that.

Sorry for the absence.

Here's the current things that running here:
1. The anodize is tried again in another anodizing vendor (the 3rd one)
2. In before, I still hold the cases for powder coat as a spare for the anodize ones because bad anodize still can be purged and used for powder coat with no drawbacks at all. But now I think this is too long so I run the powder coat last weekend.

So:
1. Most likely the powder coat will ship sooner than the anodize
2. If anybody wanna change his/her case to powder coat because the long wait on anodize, hit me up!

Sending a message keeps it going; if it isn't solved but you're outside of the 180 days then you still have protection - they either have to ship or refund.

Guys I’m sorry for giving no updates at all after the white powder coat finished. I almost send them all to you because this has been too much delay but I believe that I must personally checked them myself. It turns out after I open the plastic most of them are having a hook mark. I already sent them back to revise it and will get notification on next Tuesday. If you wonder why it is take so long, it is because my order is very small compared to their usual order so it always worked along with other good of the same color.

About the anodize, the new vendor is doing better than before. I’ll check them out on Tuesday too (going on factory tour).

The powder coats that are good will be sent today as I just finished packing them yesterday.

183336-0

Okay regarding the updates and all the delay, I know most of you (and the culture here) is giving updates periodically, good or bad, image or text, anything as long as there is one. But because in this case the troubles are keep coming one after another I feel hesitated to inform the update (the updates will be bad news and bad news and bad news), so I tried to solve it myself first then giving the updates when I see some “lights”. Trust me, I have no ill-intentions to scam or anything, it just that this frustate me that the troubles are keep coming  :-X and I fear the ‘bad news update’ will turn people into chaos and frustate me more.

All that said, I will update again on Tuesday night my time, good or bad.

All of the nice White PoCo is shipped. I put the tracking info the PayPal and also emailed it.

I notice some of you messaging me on PayPal, I already replied them and please bear with me. I will be more dilligent in posting updates  :-[

What about Invoice #01030? I did not receive any tracking number. You did not respond to my Paypal enquiry as well.

Sorry to post on Wed (maybe still Tue on US).

1. Anodize workshop canceled the meeting when I already halfway going there. Will meet on Thursday.
2. The powder coat place has some errors on their grounding, resulting in uneven paint. They will redo this and will show me on Thursday. Here's the pic of the uneven:

183643-1

183645-2

All that said, I will update again on Thursday.

Okay so here's a crucial info about the anodized case:

It's been the 3rd time I redo the anodize process and it still not in acceptable range of my vision of this case. At this point, I will just dump this batch and make them again from zero. I will search for another material vendor since I believe I got a bad batch of material, you have not too worry tho since I already find one which is more trusted in my opinion.

All that said, all of the redoing the whole CNC up to anodize will take about 30 working days according to the new vendor. At this point, I really hope you can understand this and not filing a dispute since I will redo this out of my own pocket. I'm sorry about all of this, I just don't want you to receive a bad product at the end.

Now the good part: the powder coat is going nicely! the vendor is able to redo it in a good way and some of them is already on my hand so another shipping will be done this weekend. I hope I can ship all of the powder coated case in next weekend.

So I never post here, but I wanted to say thank you for all the updates, even if they aren't all good news. I am already in for the Red Anodized case, and I want to say I don't mind the extra time, and I appreciate your transparency and your quality control. I'm sure once it comes in it will look phenomenal and I can't wait!

Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to future updates.  :thumb:

I agree. Thanks for all of the hard work and the phenomenal effort. I would rather wait a little longer for the keyboard you actually wanted to make, than the one you settled on. If anyone pulls out of there order lemme know I might be able to pick up another case if you need a buyer? Especially if it's a white powder coat!

Sorry for the late update, year-end office live isn't fun at all :(

Bad news: white powder coat paint is depleted, the restocking take some time thus delaying the rest of the powder coat.

Good news: anodized one are doing good! the new vendor said the CNC is done and some of them is anodized. from the photo they sent this looks so much better than previous vendor!

No break, we are already start the revision of Anvil. We want to make it usable for usual OLKB plate (which is 2.5mm bigger in each side) instead of using a new plate like Bullet, so it need some tweaks. Will be making a new IC thread when I have something worth showing :)

received my NL Bullet kit today

Great job Jebbra!

It was worth the wait, I am really happy with the quality of the anodization and the kit in general. This is a great example of how sometimes waiting longer means you get a great product, even if waiting is sometimes hard!

I built the kit almost immediately with some lubed Gateron Black switches, if anyone is interested I uploaded some pics here - https://imgur.com/a/jfEIZ

Hopefully see you around in the Anvil IC!

Recently came across this on the original thread to read that this made it to group buy.

Just made an account to say amazing job with the case it really looks incredible. By far the nicest I have seen for an olkb keyboard ever imo.

I take it I am way too late to the bandwagon now.

If there would be any possibility for any more case B still for the future, please send me an email. I believe you are able to do that on this site?

Cheers.
