Arsonite - my keyboard layout
« on: Wed, 21 February 2018, 14:58:00 »
I've been using this for about 13 years now, though I only put up the site not too long ago. I was suffering from RSI and I wanted something more efficient than QWERTY and didn't want to spend too much time relearning the layout.

I was with you until I saw the semicolon - taking out the left index finger to bring the right pinky into play doesn't sound right to me. How does it feel in practice?

So, it uses the home row more than QWERTY, alright? Other than that, same-finger ratio is still terrible and that script doesn't measure row jumps, non-trivial hand alternation or roll direction.

If it's comparable to anything, that's Minimak.

Looks very similar to Norman.

Good for people who prioritize speed of relearning.
But doesn't fix Qwerty's annoying same-finger issues, e.g. DE, LO, etc.

I'd also swap P with semicolon.

Use foot pedals for the modifiers. Thank me later

I used to code in C# at the time, and wanted to easily access semi-colon. Worked out fine for that. I don't code in C# as much any more, but the location of the semi-colon has not been a problem.
