My $15 Acquisition
« on: Sat, 07 September 2013, 16:24:36 »
Scored an NTC KB-6251/2 today for $15. Not too bad for white complicated Alps (clicky):

Almost. There are a couple of small scratches on the front(one right above the ZEOS label), but overall it's in really good shape.

Did you buy it from someone who thought it was garbage? It looks like it's new!

Talk about a good find! Was that the only one from your source?

A friend, who knows I collect keyboards, asked if I'd be interested in an older board that a friend of his owned. He sent me some pics and, after finding out it was clicky, I said I'd take it. He was willing to sell it to me for $15. It was the only one he had.

Just wish the standard ANSI enter was more common, I've got picked up some awesome sets over the last few months but they've all got some for of big ass enter key.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Personally, I don't really have a preference as far as enter key sizes, although I'm a little biased toward longer backspace keys.

Ah, you have one where the label gives the only FCC ID actually recorded at the FCC.

I do wonder whether Far East staff don't understand FCC IDs, and just alter the FCC ID on the label to match a revised model number (e.g. KB-6252EA → FMA44HKB6252EA) without realising that you can't do that? I've seen a lot of keyboards with alleged FCC IDs that the FCC are not aware of. Either that, or the FCC are leaking records …

Also, mine has pad-printed keycaps. Not sure what they were up to, as I have an old Nan Tan board with pad-printing, so with yours they decided to give people a treat :)
