Further down the rabbit hole we go.
« on: Wed, 17 December 2014, 20:50:28 »
Picked up my first mechanical about a year ago. A Nighthawk X8 with MX Browns from Max Keyboard. At the time, I thought it was pretty ridiculous to be charging around $150 for a keyboard.

Fast-forward to the present day and I've got a Realforce 87UB 55g on the way from EK and am currently looking into a 60%... What have I done?

But, really though, it's great to meet you guys. I'd never thought I'd be so captivated by mechanical keyboards and it's nice to know that I'm not the only crazy one out there.  I look forward to taking part in some group buys and maybe grabbing myself a nice novelty to slap on this Realforce sometime soon. :thumb:

You definitely aren't the only crazy one. But then who said we were crazy?

Welcome :)
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Not to be pedantic, but it's literally the third result from Google when you search for "Geekhack". Everyone knows we're a little crazy when it comes to mech boards  :thumb:

Welcome and enjoy. Both mechanical keyboards and being broke due to mechanical keyboards.

It's an interesting little world that not many are aware of, yet.

Welcome to Geekhack!

You have joined a fantastic community, where craziness is shared and infectious :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
