« on: Sun, 24 July 2011, 13:48:57 »
As the title, where can i find a set of 105 keycaps for a filco keyboard in white? Dont want pad printed really, want something a bit more durable.

Cant seem to find much around that is viable to be shipped to the UK :(.

Any suggestions are appreciated :D

Easiest solution is get cheap Cherry G81 keyboard and take its keys. Sometimes you can still get new old stock with doubleshot keycap for a decent price. Look for model thats like g81-****H**GB. Or if laser etched is ok subsitute L for H when looking at model number.

I too am looking for an 105 white engraved keycap set!

Where can we find those?

I've seen some posts mentioning Tao Bao but I have no idea how to shop there.

Also I was thinking about that 104 PBT white engraved set (in group buys) and then buy separately just the one missing key but I have no clue whether that is viable.

I guess that the solution (not the easiest) for us poor owners of an ISO 105 key is get these, an extra blank key and an individual smaller left-Shift that will fit our Filco. I guess that that would be the hardest part (the left-Shift).

The dream would be PBT white engraved (ISO 105 keys - UK layout).

That wouldn't work, you still have no way of having the ISO enter.

FYI; the left shift is the same size and profile of the windows/alt/control keys.

Oh that's true! Didn't notice that...

Thanks for the info. So the spare keys needed would be:
  • one for the 4th row
  • one alt/control
  • one "bigass" ISO enter

Other concern is the stabilizers (must match Filco). I don't know/didn't looked wiki yet whether we can fit a key with different stabilizer but I guess we can't.

Oh I missed on extra key in the 3rd row too, next to the Enter.

BTW Big Asian or Big ass is a way (a bit depreciative) commonly used here, but has nothing to do with it's origin.

Browsing Tao Bao I've found this one which has the desired layout:

G80-3000LSCXX-0 (MX Blue)
[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 24226[/ATTACH]

If it had MX Clears I'd buy since I would use both the keycaps and the switches (to make Ergo clears). But I've read that Cherry spacebar won't fit Filco.

WASDkeyboards carry all that except for the ISO enter.

Yes (I've posted it in the other thread), and the good thing is that the space bar will fit Filco. But I'm serioulsy considering the Cherry above (besides the keycaps, I'll be able to test the blues). God I think I'm going broke 'cause of those geeky stuff!

Yes, right, I always forgot that filcos have the ISO shift sized the same as the ALT and Control keys, so an ANSI ALT can be used as Left shift.

I would also like a Blank White PBT ISO key cap set. Has anyone found a way of getting this? Would it be viable to get a group buy on the go?

Thanks, Furuya. I did read about that earlier. It seems it would be best solution if it is too hard to get PBT. Still have to wait 3-4 months.

There's also Double-shots Round 4 in group buys. They have ISO layout in their list.

About same ETA. 6 months.

been on holiday so didnt notice my thread got a fair few replies :D.

Furuya, that looks interesting but im being really retarded here and dont fully understand how i should format my order for keys that are: White keys, black text, uk layout
would this be correct?

RETRO/STD/BLACK/WHITE 1
RETRO/UK/BLACK/WHITE 1
TOOL 1

Now where is the price list...apparently 78 USD + 14 shipping so = $92, holly crap have i got this price wrong? £30 for PBT engraved, £56 for this kit is half the keyboard :P... guess ill just leave this until funds are actually available!

I haven't tried it yet! So I'm comptetely clueless, sorry. You can just try it and see if the confirmation message matches what you wanted to order. Just send a PM to the "bot" and see what confirmation you receive.
