Cherry non plate mounted boards

Are there any good/fairly cheap cherry boards that arent plate mounted so that I could change them this way?

The Beast will be doing a GB for a tool which will let you open up keys much more easily (and safely) than in that video, and if my understanding's correct it shouldn't matter if it's plate or pcb mounted...

Can't open plate mount switch without desolder, no matter what tool you happen to have.
PCB mount boards:
Cherry G80 series
Vortex Poker, Race, Pure (non led)
Plum 96
Neo Zelia
Chicony 5191

I've also seen a few various Taiwanese mystery boards that were pcb mount without any useful brand or model numbers.

Yes it matters if the plate is not Phantom style.  The plate needs cutouts to allow the switch to be opened.  Phantom is the first board that had this, LZ produced at least one board and The_Beast is producing a poker plate.

Ahhh, ok, so the cutouts give space for the plastic arms to move out so that the top can be lifted.  Gotya!

Too bad my SS7G doesnt have these cut-outs... id love to switch my blacks with blues but i doubt my desoldering skills...

As I recall back, I once saw some thread here that someone is able to do so(remove the switch cape) for his plate mounted access keyboard. Though, he done that by a hardcore way, pushing the whole steel plate down...

Yes I did that, would not reccomend trying it on staggered board at all though, it would be very difficult.

I'm sure you can probably get it pushed down, it's getting it back where it belongs when done that is the problem. On matrix board there is clear line to feed something through between switch under the plate to make it easy to pull up. Even with this advantage it was still somewhat tricky as it needed to be done column by column.

well i didnt spend too much on that board, i bought it for like 35€ so it worth a try i guess since im not
satisfied with black switches.

oh well... no chance there.. the plate is mounted with some distance holders onto the pcb :< i could only squeeze it a little around the center

Get a Cherry G80-3000. I got one and I just change the switches whenever I want depending on my mood.

i have a cherry g80-3000 but it got black switches aswell. but at least it has all doubleshots even the 1.25x modifiers. typing on it feela better than on my ss7g due to pcb mointing i guess.
