And how do I fix it? I can't find anything in the view options to help.

It's incredibly annoying...

Oh dear, I just had to close the window.

Still curious as to what it is and how to avoid doing it again.

It means that flash player crashed... Most of the time it's unavoidable, just make sure your browser is updated frequently and you close it when you're not using it.

I haven't seen that in ages. Try the 11.3 release of Flash and Firefox UX. They are both beta but seem a lot more stable than release version and have some nice new features. I use x64 version also.
