Vote Here! http://strawpoll.me/5276932
I've had this idea for a keyset for a while, and I wanted to gather opinions on it to see if I can make this happen! This idea is inspired from a very rare shoe colorway, so I thought it would be fun to incorporate it into a keyboard set. Hopefully, I was able to execute the idea properly, but this is still in its working stages, and anything can be changed really. I prefer to make it a sculpted SA profile set, but if there is a majority for a different profile, I can go with that one. I've created two different color options to choose from, and if there are any ideas, I will try to make those an option too! If the set seems to take off, I will be sending it off to Massdrop / PMK to sort the group buy out, so I won't be handling any of it from there on. Any recommendations for kit addons or about the set are much appreciated! I will continue to update the thread with kit additions as soon as I figure out how to do so. Anyways, here are the mockups!

This was my main inspiration for the set

Update: I've laid out the basic kits and profile each key will be in. Also, I have decided to work with the 3 tone key color option rather than just the 2. If there are enough people wanting otherwise, I could make a change.
Update2: Just added Planck Kit! & Also decided to exclusively work on 3 tone key color due to popularity.

Update3: Thanks to Oobly, I now have a color corrected version for all to see a better representation of what they're getting in the end. I also added Signature Plastics Color Chips & third option colorway.

Looks interesting, and pretty! I'd buy it.
Child buys you should have:
- ISO Enter/Shift
- International (I like to split it up into German/Nordic, and UK)
- Bottom Row (For the funky layouts out there, should have various Ctrl, Super, Alt and Fn sizes and some space bars)
- Ergodox
- Planck
- Blanks in various shapes and colours
-
Why not red alphas blackish mods?
The red alphas would kind of make a rose pattern

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll get on those as soon as I can figure out how to do so using KBLayoutEditor & MS Paint.

The idea is the color is actually supposed to be salmon and not a rose, but Midnight Salmon doesn't really sound as nice haha.

Fine then
I'll just make my own keyset, with hookers, and blackjack!
You know what? Just forget the keyset.
Ah just forgot the whole thing
-
Interesting... I think I slightly prefer the three-color version to the two-color.

You might just be on to something! A novelty set perhaps? :p

I actually prefer it too haha it's like a Calm Depths / Pulse mashup
-
Yea the light blue adds a lot. Definitely interested.

Was already thinking of the legends for this

If you wouldn't mind designing them I'd be happy to put them up! I don't really have any other ideas for novelties so anything goes haha
Also, just updated with a couple kits: Base Kit, Alternate Layouts, Alternate Color, and Numpad. If I'm missing anything within them, please let me know!

I like the typeface you're using a lot. It's pretty unconventional and I feel like it goes well with the colors. Who are you planning on doing the set with though? Do you know of anyone that has the molds for that typeface?

Mm the font used in the mockups is actually just the default font they have on keyboard-layout-editor.com. And I may be wrong on this, but I think they use the font that Signature Plastics uses. So, this set would actually have all the same font as keysets that have come from Signature Plastics such as every SA keyset and every DSA set as well. I'm not sure of anybody besides Signature Plastics that manufactures the SA profile. Anyways, I would go through PMK/MD and if it gets enough votes on their systems, they would probably go through Signature Plastics to make the set!

My bad I guess, my vision is **** anyway.

Naw I know what you mean. I was making it and I was thinking why the font didn't look exactly the same as the SP font. Like the letters aren't as thick or something. Maybe KBLayoutEditor doesn't actually use the same font, but the end product would match the other SP sets!
-
Update: Just added a Planck Kit!
-
This is beautiful. Good luck with the IC and GB.

I believe the font used by the Keyboard Layout Editor is Engravers Gothic BT, whereas the font SP uses is called Gorton Modified, which is a modified form of the original engravers font used by Gorton for their machines.
The KLE one is merely an approximation of the SP one, since Gorton modified is not available anywhere as an electronic font.
Other similar fonts to Gorton Modified are Arial and Helvetica, but there are still small differences.
KLE has a number of things incorrect / inaccurate, particularly when it somes to SA sets:
1. The font, as mentioned above.
2. The colours. The correct colour is set to the keycap skirt / surround and the keytop is lightened, so they appear lighter than the real thing.
3. The SA profile shape is a bit incorrect. The actual keycaps are symmetrical, so the top is not supposed to be offset upwards, but rather central like the DSA caps.
In terms of testing layouts and getting a general idea of colour combinations it's pretty good, but we need a better tool for doing colour and profile-accurate mockups.
As a VERY rough idea I hacked together version of your mockup with slightly more accurate base colours (I'm not sure what legend colour you're using for the alphas). This is closer to what it will look like in real life if you use BED alphas and RCU mods.

Update... Figured out the legend colour (BBQ) and corrected what I could of that, too..

Thank you so much for this and your help! I want to be as transparent as possible so people aren't misled with what they're getting. Although, I've got to say I'm less of a fan of the true-to-life colors, but maybe it will look better with a lighting source. I will add the SP Color Chips along with your color corrected render now. Also, the mod alphas use BED as well.

Different, I like it.
-
I dig it
-
This is a really nice colorway. I'm interested, if it's doubleshot.
-
Not a fan of the 2D layouts as the pink clashes way too much, but 3D renders where the pink isn't that bright should look a lot better. :thumb:
