Hi, long time no see!

On behalf of DT.Heart, I am introducing you Morgan 40.

Morgan 40 is DT.Heart's experiment on a truly wireless keyboard with better connection and portability.

Traditional wireless keyboard uses bluetooth connection and bt usually will have a shorter battery life and take longer to setup and connect. Morgan 40 will be using logitech's unifying components to provide a 2.4ghz wireless connection with a longer battery life, faster wake up and easy pairing: plug-to-use.

Prototypes are finished and please check the photos!

thick integrated plate
top and bottom housing design
portable
brass + acrylic insert design

PCB
full 1u, single 2u, doulbe 2u bottom row compatible

I will have updates on colors and more details soon!

Let me know if you have questions and I will do my best to answer!!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the lack of participation on discussion, just came back and here's a major update!

Shot out to Scarecrow providing info :)

MORE INFO ON PCB
designed by bobnaive
supports up to 4 CR2032 button batteries, a single battery will last for around 3 months
stable and strong signal connection within normal desktop setup + a acrylic bar for signal exist to ensure connection stability
sleeps after 20mins of idle
hotswappable
again, like Scarecrow mentioned in the comment section, the pcb is fully programmable via ydkb.io based on TMK
no led support for longer battery life
222416-5

ACRYLIC SIGNAL EXIST
The acrylic signal exist bar will be jointed to the case without screws to ensure that no screws will be visible even in the acrylic part.
We will also provide colored acrylic bars for extra touch of aesthetics
222412-6222414-7

LAYOUT SUPPORT REFERENCE
222410-8

COLOR OPTIONS
Silver
Gray
Blue
Red
Pink
Tiffany
Black
Purple
E-White

The PVD Brass "Coin" Weight
The original skull design was to pay homage to a famous Chinese EDC brand. But we are considering to change the engraving design along with adjusting some text engraved on different surfaces. Will have more update on this.

QA
Why not cable + BT for wired and wireless connection?
We think that most custom cables are too large when paired with a 40% board and if we are going to make a small keyboard, we want it to be truly PORTABLE. Therefore, something truly WIRELESS.
As I mentioned in the initial paragraphs, BT lacks when it comes to stability, battery consumption, and set up time. Although Unifying will occupy 1 USB slot, we still think that having a more stable and faster responding wireless device with longer battery life is more important.

Slope?
5 degree.

Price Range?
Starting at sub 300USD plus shipping

I want something heavier
Well, we will be offering full brass version if someone is looking for carrying a brass ingot around :)

When?
We are still finalizing things but like Scarecrow said, once everything's decide, should happen very soon at around mid July

Sounds like a really cool idea.

Is it QMK compatible, or how is it programmed?

Cheers!

Does unifying require software on the machine? The idea is neat, but I worry about the drawbacks from using 3rd party proprietary software

Afaik, unifying is a plug and play protocol they use. You can get an app, but it's not necessary for Logitech mouse / keyboard. Obviously, things may be different for this keyboard.

Wireless instead of BT is definitely attractive. Don't mind YDKB, but qmk support would be appreciated.

More curious on a) effective range/reliability, and b) what's the price.

Would like if the PCB is made to be compatible with other 40% cases, planck or minivan may be.

Many friends are asking if the pcb of this keyboard is QMK.
This keyboard is refreshed by ydkb.io,this is based on TMK.So there are many similarities between QMK and TMK.
So friends don't have to worry about the function of this pcb.

I wrote a detailed refresh guide.Because I don't know how GH shares files. So welcome to join DT.Heart's discord here: https://discord.gg/RteVhRY to get this guide!

This is part of the screenshot of the guide:

There is too much text on the board. Branding on top, side, bottom; designed by... Made in China..
Would have liked to see a minimalist text-less version.

My personal preference would be only text on the bottom, get rid of the top and back text. Would look very clean.
And in general I really  like this board.

If this needs a special receiver on the computer side, having the option to get additional receivers during the GB would be nice.

I like the top text with the Morgan logo but the back is horrible, keep just the red logo and remove the letters. Remove the side DT Harbert designer, looks weird

In the final version, the text on the back will be simplified and unified, and made in China will be deleted.

YES,but still need to use another thing
We have designed a key-value converter, this thing is called U2U Pro
It looks like this

Plug the U2U Pro with the unifying receiver, and then plug the U2U Pro into the computer. Then you can set your own layout.

This logo needs to be changed, we need some time, it can be opened before the end of July, but this logo needs to be changed.Because the eye position of this logo cannot be polished effectively, the PVD process is not perfect.About the logo, we are considering the alternative plan, but we need some time, hoping to give the player the most perfect PVD.Therefore, the group will not open on July 12, and the group purchase is expected to start at the end of July :thumb:

Since the firmwase is based on tmk and qmk is a fork of tmk, is there a chance this might get ported to qmk?
I need access to more advanced qmk features. This website configurator ain't gonna cut it.

Nope.
Which is a huge shame. A 40% ortho fits perfectly with an iPad. Here's mine with the BT-500 module and some hilarious adapter daisy-chaining.

The case looks absolutely beautiful and the battery idea is ingenious, but that's about where the appeal stops for me. Needing a USB receiver and not having QMK support make it a no-go for me.

This seems like a lovely keyboard. Without the One-Shot-Mod feature from QMK, it's basically unusable for me. Sadly, it doesn't make sense for me to join this GB, no matter how nice it might be to have a beautiful angled aluminum case, thick integrated plate, and wireless capability - those are all "nice to have" features for me, but the QMK One-Shot-Mods feature is a hard requirement.
