I've updated the second post by crossing out the preorders that have converted to real orders. If all the uncrossed-out people converted we'd add around 30 RGBY, putting us at 67 total. This would yield something like $18/$15 for RGBY-ANSI/ISO.Great. Imo if you put these prices next to the "Next price breaks" in the OP, people'll consider buying more :smile:
Okay, I have reviewed the overall price structure and my initial reaction is that it would be cheaper for everyone if the ISO and ANSI were included in the same kit. Also, if we need to, let me know before this wraps up as to where we sit count wise and I will do what I can to get both the ESC's and RGBY's into the next price bracket; though I will be lurking this thread as I do everything else.

We can't know exactly, but my gut feeling from the interest check thread is that the proportion of ISO kits will be more like 30%. This is borne out in the current order split (13/28). I just ran these numbers:Show Image(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=32066&d=1321353706)
For quantities less than 75, the combined kit is a couple bucks more than the likely cost of an ISO kit, and about a buck cheaper than the likely ANSI kit (where "likely" means a 70% ANSI 30% ISO split between orders). After 75 the combined kit does worse than both likely kits.
As a way of starting this semi-movement or idea I want to change my current RGBY order to Iso+Ansi shifts; I feel I could resell them if need be easier if I appeal to both the international and domestic crowds.

I think its all a concept; One more key for everyone for an equal price or one less for an uneven cost but still the same amount of joy. Personally, $3 more or less isn't too bad but to others it is so its not something that should be set in stone this late in the game. I don't have an ISO shift and probably never will but if it is something I can have at the end of the day that will make my kit more complete I will get it; not to mention those ISO shifters need some help getting their proper discounts.

Yep, this is the Cherry font, where as the SP font, is, well, SP-ish. Lol. The real reason was because I have a set of engraved keys for my Poker, and I thought the black font would match better. I also have a couple sets of Cherry DS keys coming, and your white faux font would match them better haha.

Make sure you recess the stem a bit in the moogle kits or they will sit up higher than the surrounding keys (see the previous Moogle kit for details).

There clearly is a difference in stem length relative to the key bottom (see my earlier link). The only question is because Signature Plastic's profile doesn't exactly match ANY other ****ing key profile you have to pick whether to go more to Filco or more to Cherry.
Completely off-topic, but my mom needs a new caps-lock(don't ask). I was looking at wasd and noticed the custom keycaps section. Is the "R2 1x1.75" the right size and row I need for caps-lock?

The second item is that I might be adjusting the colors slightly, based on intelligence from Biniaris. I sent him my color samples and he compared them with sixty's Rebel RGBY kit. Turns out that BDH is the blue he used, but as expected the red and green are slightly different (sixty's are RR and VCS). sixty's yellow is YBP, which is noticeably darker and more orange than YY. I'm not sure I like it. When I get the samples back from Bini I'll make a final decision and let you guys know.
My current feeling is that I'll probably end up keeping our colors.

I think we should put the knowledge base gained with this GB and with the Moogle Kit 2 down on a dedicated wiki page. I mean infos about color codes, cutter size, stem lenght (did we even change that?), font alignement, whatever may be needed for future orders or reference.

You guys DO realize Signature Plastics keys are SMALLER than Cherry Corp keys. I don't mean the sideways profile. I mean the surface area on top. The quest to EXACTLY clone a rare AUTHENTIC Cherry Corp Red is futile.

Make it HU or preferably 6U mount. The whole reason of this faux cherry GB is to match the original short cherry caps. Why should everybody with cherry DS have to grind off part of the stem for them to match? I'm making logical sense aren't I?
All you need to buy is 2 blank esc keys - 1 with HU mount, 1 with 6U mount. Put them on a keyboard with vintage cherry doubleshot F1-F12 keys - preferably between 2 F keys. Take a flat plastic ruler and lay it across them. And then whichever of the 2 is closest - that is the mount we use. If 6U is shorter but closer, I won't blame you for picking HU. Sound good?
I have just learned that on taobao the number in stock is a LIE! All those WNV's in stock on taobao may or may not "really" be in stock. But if I do end up getting 1 it'll be sweet. I know that the Round 3 sets at least did not come in their own bags. I've read in various threads that you can pay SP to do the sorting for you. Lame, I agree, but it makes sense. Each legend/color combination is produced in a batch all at once. Somebody has to assemble them together into sets from piles of individual keys, whether it's you or SP.

Yah height wise. Because when I put the alpha numeric doubleshots on a filco I didn't like how the modifiers were raised up compared to the rest of the keys (without a moogle.) Maybe it would be better with these since it would be opposite.

They are SP profile. Not exactly Cherry, not exactly Filco. SP-profile modifiers are more sharply angled than Cherry keys. It's not very noticeable looking from above, but if you look at your keyboard edge-on you will definitely notice that the shifts are higher than the other keys on that row. Ripster has some pictures illustrating SP profile in his GLWIC thread. Here is my attempt at photographing an SP shift against Cherry keys.Thanks for that.

My plan is to start up a third round moogle buy soon after I ship the RGBY orders. Hopefully the new Ctrl/Alt/Shift legends will look good enough not to require adjustment. One point about WYSE: If anyone harvested from the full-size boards, then they're okay with shift, backspace, etc. But all the terminal 'boards I have are smaller, and the right shift, backspace, etc are too small. Would there be a possibility for an "addon kit" including this, or would I be out in the cold with no shift or backspace?

Yeah I am in love with the blue. The off-center diamond is quite noticeable in person. I'd like to see it redone, though that will introduce more delays. Hopefully we can get a different yellow.

Melissa says they only have one 1.25x diamond mold, so the old keys must be off-center too. The new ISO shifts should be done in about a week. So unless ISO people tell me otherwise, I'm going to hold off shipping their orders until I have the new keys (and I'll include both the original arrowless keys and the new arrowed ones).

The color is off but that's close enough for me. The original's orange-red is a bit off in comparison. I like the color we picked

I just got mine today and they look great! Only thing I'm having trouble with is the Shift keys. The inserts are falling out of them and the key itself gets stuck. I had to go to work but I'm going to try some different inserts later tonight.

Yeah, SP's stabilized keys can be pretty loose. Just place a small piece of plastic or paper over the holes before you push the inserts in. That'll keep them nice and tight.

Finally got my keys today! Everything seems to be looking good except for one thing...
I think i may have gotten a bad left ansi shift. it wont fit onto my filco properly. When i put the key in, it would stay depressed =/
Try swapping the left and right control keys to see if the problem persists. Doesn't sound like a keycap issue though. Hm.

edit: same with the left ctrl key. It seems like the left side of the keys are too long.
Ill have a CM quick fire coming on monday that i could try the keys on. But if shaving off the side of the key works, then it might be worth a try.

If I remember correctly these keys used the .018" cutter and are too small/less bold. And the moogle 2 used a .02" cutter and were too big/too bold. Does that mean we need a .019" cutter for future cherry font keys? Or a metric cutter between .018" and .02"?

Only if everyone agrees that .018" is closer to actual cherry than .02". Or if everyone likes the look of .018" better than .02". So you're saying that they don't even have a metric cutter between .018" and .02"? Afterall cherry is based in Germany so they would use a metric cutter right?
I'm almost sure they just used a 0.015" cutter for these. I refuse to believe that the 0.018" wouldn't actually be a little too much. Given the type of responses I've gotten from Melissa (~"You won't even notice the difference"), it seems very likely.
At some point I'll have to check this theory out with some overlays.
Got my order like 2 days ago! They look great, and I can see what you mean hashbaz that yellow diamond key looks a lot more off then .5mm
Either way I love how the colours turned out, the yellow could be a little richer and less bright but I think we got the RGB colours down :)

Here are some mediocre images of the new ISO shifts. As you can see they are aligned to match the right shift rather than the authentic Cherry textless left shift. I'm not sure if the two Cherry shifts in the left-hand image are from the same set or not ... are they supposed to be that different from each other?

I don't plan on murdering my second rare NIB doubleshot un-stepped capslock (as of this time). And why would I trade a rare NIB doubleshot un-stepped capslock for stepped ones that I already have too many of?
As far as I know I am the first person to do this keycap cruelty.
1. Take a NIB doubleshot ISO "|\" key and murder it for a stem.
2. Take a rare NIB doubleshot un-stepped capslock and murder the stem out of it.
3. Epoxy the murdered "|\" key shaft into the capslock - left justified.
4. Put it onto my G80-3494LYCUS-2.
5. Take pictures to confirm the kill.
6. Post them to horrify people on GH.
7. Wait for the horrified responses and cries for justice to pour in.

99hk sells sets that are stepped and left-shafted. And he sells them for $100 now. Only 8113/8200 have un-stepped center-stemmed capslocks. The doubleshot ones usually go for >$100 on ebay.

We never got a picture of the prototype next to the final red esc. If they used the .015" instead of the .018" cutter then that would explain why these are smaller/less bold than vintage cherry.

The 1.25x keys feels much smoother than the Shift keys.I noticed that, as well. I really like the shift keys, though. If I could get all my sp keys to feel like that, I wouldn't need PBT anymore.

there are going to be tolerances on both the SP key and the filco case. filco only guarantees that the tolerances of its keys and cases won't line up to cause any keys to stick...
Will I have problems with this on my 105 key Filco MJ1 or is it a TKL problem?

Then that means we need either a .019" cutter or a metric cutter between .018" and .02". If GH buys the cutter and sends it to them do you think that they would use it WITHOUT charging an extra fee?
Sorry, I've been very busy with work lately. I'd like to correct some misinformation.
Whatever we got was definitely not anything other than the 0.015" cutter. They may have ran the cutter twice (making two identical cuts) - or just straight up the same as the prototype. I can tell you this without even seeing the prototype. Just look at the difference between my moogle kit and the RGB kit - it's massive.

Yes but if the new keys finally nail cherry thickness they won't have to be redone for moogle 4. The RGBY keys would be the only ones that would have to be redone for moogle 4.
The legend thicknesses have already been bugging people. There are probably a few hundred posts about it...(and not just people with asperger's...)

Hmm, I just realized ESC is rough, too. For me, both (ansi) shifts are rougher than the modifiers. are you ISO?
I really like the rougher keys.
