GMK Bentō round 2
You guys asked for it, now it's back!
GMK Bentō (inspired by the Japanese culture, and the iconic/typical home-packed meal called 'Bento [弁当]') returns!
It will feature some spicy additions: new base kits, latin alphas, 40s support and more!
Regarding the new base kit, I thought it would be nice to offer a monochrome color scheme using this nice tealish blue.
You now have the possibility to have GMK Bentō in two tones: cream and blue thanks to the different novelties kits, for a more sea effect!
I decided to use different Hiragana [ひらがな] sub legends (used for GMK Serika for example) because I find them more coherent adequate.
The Katakana [カタカナ] sub legends come from GMK Bushidō and offer a more modern look due to their sharp and geometrical shapes.
The Group Buy is running from August 3rd to 31st.
The kits are still open to discussion and can be adjusted.

The R2 PgDn key in the base kit should be PgUp. Please include R3 PgUp, R4 PgDn as well.
Consider removing the second pair of 1u Ctrl and Alt keys. The second Ctrl isn't needed because no modern ≥60% layouts use 2× 1u Ctrl, and the second Alt isn't needed because you don't have 1.5u Super keys. It's okay to include the second pair of 1u Ctrl and Alt keys in the 40s kit.
Please see this post (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=105144.msg2900901#msg2900901) for what the correct kana sublegends for the R1 \| and R3, R4 ISO keys should be. I would also recommend changing the R4 \| in the Latin kit to R4 <> in order to avoid duplicates: quite a few ISO users have been expressing their distaste for the duplicate legends recently.

R2 1.5u backspace is in base kit btw, included for split backspace layouts like hhkb. But it also works for some 40s boards which is nice.

That's a set that is definitely hard to photograph. It's really lighting dependant and needs to be caught with neutral settings.
Colors turn off most of the time which literally ****s the contrast of the two colors.

Yeah, I can understand that the lighting will make a huge effect on how we perceive the colours, it's just compared to the original renders I feel like only the 4th photo makes the red look pinkish-enough.For what's it's worth, that top photo is mine and I'm typing this on my R1 set and the salmon looks waay more pink on my desk than the photo. I'm actually surprised at how red it looks in that photo.

i'm in for 3 kits. 2 traditional, 1 revival. the revival will be paired with the bushido samurai mods. my brother didn't like the mix of red and white legends on the bushido, so this is the next best thing.

Keysets are unlimited group buys almost always, which means if you buy, you'll get the set. They are pre-order's though, so don't expect the set for 12-14 months though.

Please don't do this. I'd rather not have to pay an extra $30 overall for the numpad if it gets split into its own child kit. The savings per person for the base kit by removing the numpad is usually only about $10-$15 anyway.

I won't consider other language alphas because it doesn't make sense to me to have JIS sub legends on a ISO-DE layout though.
If anything, ISO-DE is closer to JIS than ANSI is, what with the ISO Enter key and the &,(,) on 6, 8, and 9 respectively :p
(I'm half trolling, and not trying to persuade you one way or the other -- what really matters is whether or not a kit will hit MOQ, after all -- but in defence of German hiragana enthusiasts, I don't think this reasoning stands ;). Of course, as a JIS user, I could argue that it doesn't make sense to have them on ANSI and so you should make this set JIS-only... but I'm only willing to take my tongue-in-cheek trolling so far!)

It seems really weird to include so many different accent keys, but to drop a major compat key to save costs. I think it would be better to include the van backspace and drop one or to accents to balance it out, if cost is the main concern.

Not going to lie, I’d love the option of a mod coloured space bar in the base kit, but realistically Biip would have to put two space bars to keep compatibility and that would mean having four total space bars in the base kit, which is pretty far from the norm.

It’s a tough one, if you put a space in the salmon pack, you’d again realistically have to put both a 6.25u and a 7u for compatibility and if you do that it largely renders the space bar kit redundant, unless you specifically need a 1U blank or use split bars. At that point that would make those bits more suitable to go in the Sakana kit, which messes all that balance up. Then you’ve got the fact that adding space bars to the salmon kit makes it more expensive than the seafood kit, which is awkward.
Honestly, while there’s always things that would be nicer to have, I think Biip has done the best they can for compatibility :)

Vendors being spaced out as US/EU/Canada/Asia/Oceana is pretty standard and should cover most people. I mean, we’ve only got CandyKeys in Germany covering the whole of Europe, for example.
