Top right with the Light Bulb is by far the best, just POPS!

Can't wait!

I actually think I prefer the OG 2u badge. The separation is a bit unconventional and different from the ordinary top right placement.

Renders are nice, looking forward to seeing a fully built prototype!

Can you please answer if there is going to be an option without the badge? I saw some people asking this (including me), and you aren't responding to these questions (unless I just haven't seen your reponse, then sorry).

Unsure if I will do badgeless again, from the data perspective, there were not that many people choosing badgeless during the R1 Think6.5 GB, and adding a different top piece increases production costs significantly. If cost permits, I would like to offer 2 badge position options this time as opposed to having badgeless. Hope you understand.

To be honest, I really liked the old design. I'm not feeling this one (yet). I'm hoping there will be a Polycarbonate version?

Thanks! Yes I do plan to offer PC as long as the GB is not too complicated - weighing different aspects now. Might have to cut out hotswap and badgeless this time.
I made a few changes to the design already with community feedback. Hope you will feel the THiNK soon! And thanks for being patient and tolerant with my new designs.

I apologize if this has been answered already or a novice question but is Think6.5 2.0 compatible with other pcbs available in the market?

Hesitant in trying to get a poll going so late in the IC stage, but quite a few people have requested it so here it is. Please leave a reply here or on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBTo3hrHnRb/

The goal is to gauge whether the lightbulb+gear is still the most preferred, as we plan to have 1 default badge for 1U and 2U, respectively. And then 1 optional badge. Given multiple colors will likely be offered, 3 will be too much for Potter.

Option A for sure.

Even though I like the looks of A, light bulb icon has been polluted by politics in the country that I am originally coming from so that's no-no for me. But I know this represents one of the tiniest fraction of the whole audience. So I personally will go for anchor if possible.

A as default because it represents the board itself. C as side because it's the manufacturer's logo!

Is the weight on the back definitely an anchor? Because if so, the contrast between that and keeping the original lightbulb makes less sense to me.

So i am just going to say it. I think the default should be the badges that match the theme. So i am going to say Option "B" should be the default badge, to match the Anchor themed weight. But that is just me. I would like to see one of the other badges will be an option, cause i'd love to have both. I like the Compass badge, and not sure why everyone is so against the nautical theme. I understand that it may not match EVERY keycap set you want it to, but that is what the color options are for....

I don't really like the anchor but I agree with this.

Dream setup for me would be the 2u light bulb on top and the Gray Studio logo on the bottom but I appreciate that the bottom anchor is probably set already.

Hey oldcat, just wanted to ask if this design comes with a USB-C daughterboard? I just saw the Polaris having an issue with the usb port due to its gasket mount design (https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/h7gofy/polaris_owners_usb_port_stress/),
will this be an issue too or not?

Offline Natedog351

Why is the back weight an anchor to begin with? Some like it some don't but the real issue is why isnt there a consistent theme. Is it the think 6.5v2 or is it the anchor 6.5? Personally the weight is on the back and wont be seen so I could just overlook that and go with A to actually fit the think theme. Theres already a gear around the usb c that wouldn't fit the whole nautical thing. But on the other side of things it's a 400$+ keyboard with a disjointed theme which could be really offputting to several.

Since it's already been decided that the anchor weight is on the back, I want the anchor weight or compass badge option to fit the nautical theme.

If it's light bulb or the studio logo (what is it supposed to be anyways?), then what's the theme? Are people voting for lightbulb because they want new badges for their v1s or just simply want another v1 run?.

The prototypes will be tested by myself as well as via live stream with Alexotos. I will be sending him a couple of prototypes soon!

The gaskets we made are different from those on the market or ones used on Polaris, so I cannot speak to whether it will have similar concerns until I test the prototypes.

You can 3D print or CNC machine your own blocker badge after GB :)
The blank badge files will be shared after the GB fulfillment.

Don't know about the other but the reason I vote for light bulb is because I want the theme to be "Think6.5". Not V1, not V2, just Think6.5. That is the entire appeal of the Think6.5 is to me: non-corner badge placement like every other board and the light bulb lights up when I am in fact "Thinking". The reason I want the V2 is because of gasket mounting. Gasket mount board with interesting design is hard to come by.

This is definitely just my opinion and does not reflect opinion of others.

I would go for option B, as this ties in with the weight on the bottom.
But if it is possible to buy the compass as an extra option, I would be fine with that too

This is my intention too :) Gasket mount board with an interesting design (glad you think so!)
And Potter has invested a significant amount of money to inject-mold the gaskets, which will be unveiled later.

Hey oldcat, what would YOUR Think6.5 v2 look like? With any color combination, badge combination, and any keycaps.

You spent a lot of time worry about what people want and like. Really interested to see what oldcat likes if you want to render it LOL.

Really good keeb you've got going here. Is there any way that we can get a EU proxy like candykeys or myleyboard. As someone who lives in Europe import taxes really kill me. With international shipping plus VAT the price of this keeb would go up to 500 instead of 350. I'd love to get this keyboard but 500 is just a bit too much.

Anyways love the design

There's a conclusion from oldcat about this somewhere above. Essentially they decided they won't proxy because it creates too much potential for problems with something of this cost.

I like all of the badges except the anchor but any of them would be acceptable. I like the OG 2u light bulb the best because it is unique and people know exactly what it is when they see it. I can't wait for this group buy! I just want 1 nice board and have missed out on all the drops/raffles recently and am not paying ridiculous aftermarket prices.

Potter said after thinking further, he will not be working with another vendor (EU or elsewhere), most due to customer service and accountability issues. Keyboards are different from keycaps, they contain many parts that can be easily damaged, and any customer service is extremely expensive. Vendor inspections of boards are also virtually impossible as the boards are sealed. He said he has worked with vendors in the past (e.g., zfrontier), and those GBs had been a pain for buyers and himself. For anything, a buyer communicates with the vendor, and vendor communicates with him, a lot is lost in the process and everything is delayed further. He said based on the experience with Think6.5v1 GB, most EU buyers actually find direct shipping a smooth process. Potter said he will check with his DHL agent on what can be done about customs valuation within legal bounds and with the items insured.
Here it is

Good news, the prototypes are confirmed to work perfectly by Potter. All-POM holy pandas were used in testing and the typing feel is sublime.

Next, I have asked Potter (requested by some discord members and friends here) to make gaskets of varying softness and different materials, so I can test them and see if I can find the optimal softness and material. The prototypes should be sent to me soon once the new gaskets are made (a week or so). In the meantime, Potter said he will take some pictures of the Think6.5v2 prototypes and the Space65 ano samples. PC prototypes are also done, pictures forthcoming.

Here is a purple anodization prototype (EVA purple):
