I've never been a fan of lambics. They're too sugary for me. Given me a nice sour, Belgian, IPA, or stout any day.

Contrary to you, I can't stand IPAs. I will drink almost anything, except for something so consumed by hops. Bring on the sugar!

It's got to be a good IPA, not one of the myriad of mediocre ones out. I like one with nice grapefruity hops and those with somewhat herbal or floral hops. Not huge on the piney/resinous hops or the "dank" hops that taste like marijuana.

Pilsners and IPAs with the occasional Belgium triple or quad. Generally the hoppier the better, but some breweries think that's a challenge and just decimate the beer with hops like Hopslam which actually made me feel ill from all the hops. Hop Devil is a nice very hoppy brew without quite overdoing it.

Yes, it seems that "IPAs" are just intent on throwing the most bitter taste they can at me, thus I'm unaware of what anything more can be. I am most definitely willing to try beers, so if you think there is an IPA that I should try that will change my opinion on them, let me know. I am willing to admit I am wrong.

Hope Devil is a pretty decent little IPA. I've actually started an excel spreadsheet with descriptors and rankings of beers I've tried so that I can try and remember what I thought of them.

Try Boulevard Pale Ale or something like it; it's an APA and very good. It's what we bought last night, but it was expired (yuck) and I returned it for the IPA above

Edit - New Glarus - Totally Naked (Wisconsin) is still my favorite beer, but it's seasonal and you can't get it here

Aww, I love beer so much. But if I'm walking into a store, and I have to choose between Boulevard's Pale Ale and their Hefeweizen (I LOVE hefeweizens), it's a hard choice. But next time I see it, I will choose it based on your recommendation. However, Pale Ale \= IPA...

Agreed, that's why I recommended it. Morgan says Hefeweizen is okay with a positive tone

Most of the 22oz from Drake's are good. I've had the Denogginizer, Jolly Roger, and Hopocalypse and loved them. I think there were a couple of others I've had from them and loved. Of course, some of those might be too hoppy for you.

People generally like 21st Amendment stuff. Alesmith has a lot of good, but pricey beers. Ballast Point is usually well regarded, but I haven't loved most their stuff I've tried. Anchor Brewing is tried and true and most their stuff is decent to good. Bayhawk is a decent brewery near me that seems to improve with every batch they turn out. Still not awesome, but a lot of potential. Cismontane has some interesting stuff, but they tend to be heavy handed still. Another one of those upcoming breweries on my watch list since they have the right ideas with the ingredients and flavor profiles, just not the execution yet. I loathe Hangar 24 for being overly simple and one-noted, but their Alt-Bier is decent and people tend to like their Orange Wheat, though it has way too much citrus for me. I've been wanting to give some Left Coast stuff a try, but haven't seen them around here. Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye is awesome if you can still find it. Stone's Cali-Belgique is surprisingly good and any one of their B@stards (not sure if the swear filter filters that word) are pretty solid. And I know you said no IPAs, but their Dayman IPA isn't that hoppy and is one of the most interesting IPAs I've had in a while. Lastly, The Breury is supposed to have some awesome stuff, I just can't justify a $10+ 22oz bottle when I'm looking for work.

I enjoyed this beer the other night. It was a sweeter IPA. The bottle artwork attracted me to it.

Oh, I hate IPA...

They are so popular over here right now among the hipster set (There is even a "Hipster"-branded IPA!!!), so all the local pubs serve 50 types of IPA and have little of anything else, of which the non-IPA is only the most basic and/or cheap lager. Some of the beer that is branded as "stout" or "porter" that is served is still made from ale-yeast and taste like IPA anyway...

It has come to the state where I'd rather stay at home and enjoy the mid/low-alcohol brands from the convenience store more. Proper dark lager, stout or porter.

I was at the airport in Nashville, and I stopped in a restaurant to eat. I chose that one because they had Blue Moon on tap, as I learned from the menu before entering. Upon asking for one, I was told that they had removed Blue Moon from tap, in favor of an IPA. And that was their THIRD IPA on tap!

is Dragon's Breath a regional thing? it's a dark hefe that's nearly thick enough to chew on. I usually get a glass when i'm out, but I can't take much of it lol. We don't have many hipsters in wyoming as they all get shot on the assumption that they're democrats.

central north-north-west corner, about 20 minutes from Cody if you know where that is. Pretty close to the Montana border. Little town called Powell. You might miss us as my wife and I are taking our third anniversary vacay for the weekend of the 25th.

Expensive (every now and then I splurge a little), but awesome. Nice caramel malts, smoked peat, and vanilla up front mellowing to vanilla and dark fruit with the tiniest hint of Belgian spices and a mellow smokey bourbon and boozy finish. Awesome thick, creamy mouth feel and a nice bouquet.

Finally a night to just chillax and do nothing. I just had a Josephs Brau, it was meh... Not terrible, but not the best I've had either.

I just had a Chelada right after, and it's always good no matter what day or mood I'm in. The GF loves it too. I'm not sure if it can be considered a real beer though. I know with this drink, you'll either love it or hate it. There's no in between. I have a few friends that almost yacked on their first tastes haha

Nah mang, you gotta try it before you turn it down. Tomato juice and beer sounds disgusting to me too, but I liked it ever since first time trying it

I just had a couple bottles of Sea Dog wheat ale last week, those are pretty good too, but probably a little heavy on the blueberry flavor. Your Flying Dog reminded me of that. Not even sure how people come up with these names.
