Goddamnit... I've been sucked into the Monogatari hype :-(

I am also confused why it's so popular..  it's as if the audience has to completely miss out on the entirety of --childhood-- to really enjoy watching something so trivial..

Tp4 prefer robots replacing humans for all roles under all circumstances.

No, it's actually really nicely done in my opinion. The fanservice balances with plot and character development quite well.

Personally I'd never watch those big boobs fantasy shows lol, such generic crap

Man, I've really been enjoying the shows this season.

My Hero Academia Season 2 has been absolutely killing it, phenomenal adaptation. The last part of the Sports Festival arc and the Stain arc are some of my favorite parts from the manga, and seeing how well the character development and hype of these arcs were translated into animation, I have been quite thrilled. The series really is doing shounen justice and has more than deserved its spot in the new Big Three.

Made in Abyss has been nothing short of gorgeous, with excellent worldbuilding and atmosphere. Episode 10 was also some of the most uncomfortable I've been when watching anime since the first time I saw Perfect Blue. If it wasn't sharing a season with My Hero S2, this would be Anime of the Season for me, hands down.

Welcome to the Ballroom has been a lot of fun so far, and I love seeing the spirit of sports shounen being put into less "traditional" sports, like Ping Pong the Animation and Kokou no Hito.

Kakegurui has been okay so far, it's been tough trying to scratch that Akagi and Kaiji itch these days.

Those all sound right up my alley. I'm now about 60-something eps into Hajime No Ippo and I love it.

These entertainment packs are cringy for adults,   but for kids, there is no normal set of behaviors and cliches ,   so to them, there is no cringe..   the majority of cringe is a learned behavior...

It's like pewdiepie,  his behavior and mannerism is retarded in the eyes of an adult,   but children see it, and they just see a clown, and they're ok with that..

Adults just haven't gotten used to the idea of  a clown without a costume..  that's what pewdiepie is.. he's the latest iteration of clowning + internet..

Adults live in a world with a narrow set of what constitutes cordial behavior.

Clowning is allowed,  but it is normally signaled,  originally with costume and context.

Pewdiepie, is a clown, but he does not display the traditional signals and context,  That is why there is a love-and-hate relationship.

For example..   if you started rubbing your stomach and patting yourself on the head in front of your boss for no reason..   You'd be fired..

But if it's during a game of charades,  it is fine..

Pewdiepie dresses normal, his setup is normal, so you'd expect normal decorum and behavior,  but then he speaks in a funny voice, and makes weird noises..   That is a breach of societal norms..

Fall season!

I'm pretty stoked, dem sequels.

Kekkai Sensen S2
3gatsu no lion S2
Food Wars S2
Himouto Cancer-chan S2

Then a few gems like Ancient Magus Bride and Houseki no Kuni.

Black clover should be pretty dope too.

I'm at maximum hype for Ancient Magus Bride. Huge fan of the manga, caught the theatrical showing of the first three episodes a couple months ago, and I've been extremely pleased with the adaptation so far.

3-gatsu no Lion S2 is something I've been very much looking forward to (and dreading in a good way) as well.

Also started Children of the Whales, looks very promising (but in a "this'll either be great or a great disappointment", no other way).

In terms of other shows this season, I'll be checking out Black Clover and Inuyashiki, been meaning to read the manga for them. I was also very excited for the new season of Kino no Tabi, but I've been hearing less-than-encouraging stuff on it from friends...

Since I hadn't posted about finishing them here, for last season, I finished My Hero Academia S2 and Made in Abyss. MHA S2 gave me everything I wanted and more, an overall superb adaptation of the manga and was, for most of its run, my pick for AotS and one of the strongest frontrunners for AotY. Made in Abyss, however, came in and stole it for me. I was absolutely blown away as it went on, floored by the beauty and grandeur of the Abyss and the worldbuilding (easily some of the best I've seen in any anime or manga, takes me back to the first time I read Wizard of Earthsea), a cast of very strong characters, and an amazing soundtrack. My AotY pick is likely going to be between this and Ancient Magus Bride.

Garo - Vanishing line has been a pleasant surprise. Kino no tabi was great but it's my understanding there'll be just 3 OVAs, not an actual season.

Guess I should check out Made in abyss since everyone and their mothers are going on about it.

Just watched episode 1..

Action's pretty good..  mech design is great.

I'm not digging the Latest trend for Sis-con.. Onechan type story arcs..

But I suppose this is just the natural progression of things when an entire generation of fandom is raised in ever escalating --perversion-- (not sure on wording).

sigh... episode 2.. this is pretty knee deep fan service.. hahahaha..

I'm honestly not sure why it needs to go so far.

Jesus. what is this.. do they really need this ridiculous sub-text for women to wear high heels ? hahahaha

I bet the animators are all getting together discussing, ok,  High heels make NO SENSE in a pilot flight suit.

But our demographics show 80% of anime fans have feet fetishes,  THEREFORE,   all female pilots will go into this combat prep apparatus,  and it makes them wear high heels..

hahahahahahaha

I definitely agree. They managed to keep the side characters relevant and interesting (except a couple), and I definitely respect that in a plot driven show.
