Nice job. I'd love to know more about how you retrobrited the case.
Thanks man!
So...on retr0briting, I only have one pic since I forgot to take pictures so please bear with all the text.
I decided to soak both the upper and lower halves of the case in a single bath to ensure that they would lighten to the same extent and match.
I used:
- A large plastic bin
- 2 liters of 10 volume / V10 / 3% hydrogen peroxide
- 500ml of 20 volume / V20 / 6% hydrogen peroxide
- 1 scoop OxiClean
- Enough tap water to submerge the cases in the bin (estimated at 4-6 liters)
- three drinking glasses to hold the cases down
I put the case in the bin, weighed them down with the glasses and poured in the hydrogen peroxide. Added tap water until the cases were submerged. Added the OxiClean and swished the mixture back and forth in the bin.
THE MIXTURE WILL BUBBLE AND TURN YELLOW. It looks like watered down mountain dew.
There wasn't enough direct sunlight outside so I started by an upstairs window.
Here's a picture:
Yeah, I tried to retr0bite an iPhone case...it didn't work.
I checked it every twenty minutes and mixed the solution. After forty minutes I found a big enough spot of direct sunlight outside and took the bin outside...aaaaand I promptly forgot my phone and camera.
Outside in the direct sunlight it started to bubble
A LOT more and become
MORE yellow. Forty more minutes in the tropical sun and it was done.
