What's the schedule going to be? i.e. How long is the GB open for, when are payments expected, when should we expect to receive them?
Thanks :D
Do you have the samples on hand? I'm worried about which purple to choose.
I'd like the purple to match GMK's as much as possible. The ZZ96 purple didn't match enough for me and I ended up selling it. I don't want to have a repeat experience! It looks like the Blue Magenta might be the nearest match but I'm not sure... help! :-\Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/v76u5Fa.jpg)

Would you happen to have shipping estimates for different regions? Just ball park figures will do, doing some math to see if its financially responsible for me to jump in :p

For US buyers it will be ~$50, if you are in Singapore, it will be cheaper for ~$35
Woot woot the moon rebooted! Question: will we have the option to get an extra pcb?Yea it's on the form :>
the logo is not removable?
Basic kit includes:
Alu top and bottom cases;
Custom Ordered PCB;
Alu plate, stripe insert, weight;
Stainless steel or brass Logo insert, pre-installed, not removable;
Custom Ordered Box;

I'm assuming what you guys are actually asking is can it be purchased with no logo machined at all? Like no CNC in that spot?
What the angle on this?Typing surface is 8 degrees. Also updated in thread. Thanks
If I'm not ordering an aluminum plate, what do I still have to pick a anodizing plate color?Update the form accordingly, added I want to upgrade to brass plate option. Thanks for pointing this out!
a quick question: where are the stripes?yes
are they the two plates near the logo?
Two questions:
1) How are the "non-removable" parts secured
2) Do you have any irl samples of the light purple?
:)

I second this for light purple. I'm worried of ending up with pink again!

Custom Ordered Box;Is there any more specific detail posted about the PCB anywhere? Like does it support any sort of LEDs? Does it support TMK/QMK? etc...Is there more info on the PCB, cant remember from the old old thread
Will you guys ship as declared or gift? :)
I don't know enough about the PCB, I'll ask the PCB guy and get back to you guys
i think we will need some details on how the "non-removable" logo is secured - i would like to modify the metal pieces, but need to decide what type i would select first

Not sure if you guys have seen these but here are some pics of prototype under natural lighting: http://imgur.com/a/2yFWZ
Btw, the logo is a tight fit design, it will be hammered in and glued from the back

Any chance of adding an optional diffuse? Perhaps one that only covers the front and the sides?
Just curious, whats the point of having an EXTRA pcb? Isn't one enough? :D
would it be possible to ship the board with the MOON logo not glued in? i only want the stripes placed in but not the MOON logo. Please advise. Thanks! There isnt any comment section in the form for this request. Would this be possible?

you have one more to fill with different switches so you can swap switches on the same case. though you also need an extra plate.
Don't know if I'm blind, but where's the USB port on this thing? :p
Would I be able to see a comparison between the stainless/brass logo. Also, how about renders with the brass plate, brass weights, brass stripes? Also, is there an option for extra PCB?I'll see if EVE can make a render with brass parts. He's probably asleep by now (23:34 in China)
zzyjayfree, did you get a response back yet regarding more information about the PCB? LEDs, TMK/QMK, etc?

Is the silver top/bottom plate not an option? Like the GB image.
If shipping is being billed separately, will that invoice come through before July 31 as well, or will that be later?

Wondering about the status on this
Are the PCBs compatible with other standard TKLs? If yes, can I buy one or two PCBs separately (without joining for a Moon)? I don't think I have the necessary pocket change to join the buy, but being able to buy a TMK/QMK compatible PCB that fits my TX87 would help me out a whole bunch

I think you'd want to get some leeku PCBs as I can't guarantee Moon PCB's compatibility with TX87
zzjayfree. I just updated my order. I wanted to point out an inconsistency in the cost.
Two ways of getting two plates:
(1) Select an aluminum plate color (+$0), select an EXTRA Brass plate (+$35). = +$35
(2) Select "Upgrade to Brass", select OTHER and ask for Upgrade to Brass (+$20) and an EXTRA Aluminum plate (+$20). = +$40
There's an difference of $5 depending on how one fills the form. I think you should revise this to Option (1) and double-check all orders requesting a Brass plate AND an Aluminum plate.
A few questions before I finalize my order:
Will the brass parts be PVD coated or otherwise treated to prevent tarnishing?
If picking a stainless steel logo, will the color match the bottom case?
Thanks!

Stainless steel will just be it's own color. As for brass treatment, EVE can do that, the only problem is not everyone likes it, some actually like it to be tarnished :-\ :-\ :-\

Is Champagne Gold the closest approximation to the brass color?
I didn't think I would enter this GB. Since the colors are no longer set to specific combos... and the more I look at it... and the fact I am backing out of another GB... and those curves...
Hey zzyjayfree
I know this was asked before, but could it possible before the end of the GB to see color blocks so we can mix and match, i just feel when this board its gonna be finished it gonna be a kb that's gonna run up in price, properly around 600-700 USD with shipping and switches etc :P
I just wanna make sure i am not gonna be bumped down if my color choice is not matching
hope you understand

I think he meant seeing all the colors in one photo not in board form but a sample size, so we can see how different colors look next to one another and in similar lighting. The only sample I see of the starry night is the plate which you can hardly see.
I would like to be able to see titanium gray and starry night next to each other to have a clear picture

Unfortunately, we don't have a brass logo yet as we just decided to add the brass logo option. But generally speaking, you want to use brass logo for classic, darker case like starry night grey or ink black, use SS logo for more vivid colors like violet purple. I would always recommend make contract between parts. Eg: if you want to pair your carbon set, you might want to pick ink black top, with brass logo and stripes, Carbon orange bottom and then a dark weight.
Personal opinion, hope it helps.

Actually it helps a lot, thanks! I am going for the carbon build to match my SA carbon that come soon (2018), so I think I will take your advice and go for brass logo
That's what I ended up doing. I had planned on doing my own color scheme, but the more I looked at the carbon color scheme the more it grew on me. It also helped having a ton of pictures of it. The only bad thing is that it forced me to spend $230 on SA Carbon, which I hadn't planned on buying. In the end, this keyboard is going to be almost $900 (switches and caps included)!

Does anyone have any info for how this works in regard to US Customs (or is there a general thread about this)? I've never "imported" anything like this before.

US custom is pretty generous for importing, at least compact to EU custom, they normally let go stuff declared under $100 freely, which I did several times already.
And that's what I'm planning to do for Moon GB, unless buyer requests otherwise

yeah, here in EU (Switzerland) stuff declared above 60$ gets about 30$ import tax slapped on it

Well here we get a notice that we can pick up a package at the post office and that it'll cost the started amount to receive it, so it's held hostage basically... My question is more about how that is handled. Is the product held hostage until I pay the tax, or do I receive a bill later? In either event, how am I contacted, or how do I know if it is being held by customs?
Is the same in the UK, get a note in the post telling you you have to pay and collect it (20% of price + £8 royal mail handling fee)Well here we get a notice that we can pick up a package at the post office and that it'll cost the started amount to receive it, so it's held hostage basically... Sent from my sofa using lazy-stuff...
Here it is one of two things:Ah yeah, here we also get the opportunity to pay it directly to the postman at the door, but he shows up at 10am, so you're never at home at that time when you've got a job
you either get to pay it at the door to the post man (didn't happen to me in the last 6 months though) or they'll tell you that they couldn't find out the true value of the package (maybe look at the customs form or open it and see if there is an invoice inside then? smh), unless you call them they won't tell you who sent it and definitely not how much it was declared for or how much you have to pay, because they "aren't sure".
In that case you can drive to the customs office (only 45-60min per way for me since it's on the other side of the town) where you can usually wait for anywhere from 15min to around 3 hours depending on how bad they are feeling that day and how many breaks they decide to take.
Once they call you in you have to open the package in front of them (I won't even imagine what this would look like if you ordered... uhm... personal items), if there is an invoice inside they'll take that to calculate fees (again, they are allowed to open it, so why don't they try that beforehand?), if not you have to bring a PHYSICAL COPY of your order confirmation for them to calculate the fees off of.
All in all it's a bad experience that got worse and worse in the last 6 months, at times where there usually were 1-2 people waiting at the customs office there now are at least 4-6 people at any given time. They also recently started sending EVERYTHING to the customs office which is quite annoying.
About to submit an order form - just checking that this does indeed support ISO enters, since the prototype plates don't...
06-Apr-2017 Update 2:
I’ve got some great feedback from the community. And I’d like to add a few things to the prototype.
1. The weight is not polished for the prototype, but will be for GB;
2. See update 4 I’ll suggest Indents on the bottom case to be added for rubber feet;
3. See update 4 At this point we are planning to use PCBs from the designer of ZZ96;
4. ISO comptibility check;
5. For GB we will provide as many color as possible. Different colors can be ordered for top and bottom cases as long as the MOQ for each color for either case is meet. The GB will also be available in China so most likely you’ll be fine;

Does anyone have any info for how this works in regard to US Customs (or is there a general thread about this)? I've never "imported" anything like this before.
Thanks mate
US custom is pretty generous for importing, at least compact to EU custom, they normally let go stuff declared under $100 freely, which I did several times already.
And that's what I'm planning to do for Moon GB, unless buyer requests otherwise

Should you be saying things like this out loud? Sounds illegal to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ... also if the package gets lost it won't be covered by insurance (atleast not over 100$). Correct me if i'm wrong ^^
Order form closed, please check your order status and let me know if there's any issue. Thanks for entry, invoice will be sent out in the next few days, as I'm currently away on vacation :p

Receiving it like this is not illegal and no one in China (where it's shipped from) will enforce this there either. Also, if this was mass produced $100 wouldn't be that far off.
Insurance can also be done individually from the declared value (idk if that's the case here though).

They're not mass produced. They're CNC'd individually. Last time I talked to EVE I got a quote of quite a bit more than $100 per board.
The forum has not been updated as far as price goes. Is this something that you have to do or did I do something wrong ? I really dont want to miss on this buy due to something I did wrong. DIllonHightower is the name in the form. Please let me know If i need to update anything. Thanks zzyjayfree
Hey Jay! hope the Rockies treats you good! you are lucky haha, there are so damn pretty ;D
I dont know if i assumed to fast that a full ISO layout is supported with a 1.25 left shift + a 1u and, not only a ISO enter?
I'll keep the form till end of this week. Payment will be postponed for a week too.

Does this mean we will have until August 7th to pay invoices?
Just curious, whats the point of having an EXTRA pcb? Isn't one enough? :D
Correct. I'm On my way home now. Will start to send out invoice tomorrow.
Guys, I'm back! Invoice will start to go out soon. btw, there's a pic of brass and SS logo. It's for Chinese batch therefore different design.

Sorry that is for CN GB only, let's keep things as easy as possible for EVE. We don't want to mess up your orders, do we?

Specifications:
Both WK and WKL layout available;
Supports ANSI and ISO enter;
Regular and stepped caps-lock supported;
TMK firmware, fully programmable PCB;
8 degree typing surface;
However I still wanted to make sure, seems odd to manufacture the prototypes without it. On a similar note, does this board support a short left shift (full ISO) as well? The prototype does not.

I am in doubt. In that picture from the album:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/7bVdEmpm.jpg)
Is the top case "Blue Magenta" color correctly labeled? The plate color is labeled "Violet Purple" whereas it looks pinkish, rather magenta-ish than purplish.
Shouldn't that be the other way around, violet/purple top and blue magenta plate?

Good point, I just thought about that myself. I chose that combo, so I'm wondering about this too. I would be bummed out with a Magenta board instead of that amazing purple.

Quick question zzjayfree, when is the due date for invoice payment? Trying to make sure that this payment only appears on next month's credit card bill.
Two questions.
- Is it possible to pick an ANSI only plate, like in the pictures?
- If we pay more, can we get that smexy CB Moon logo? <3
Regardless, thanks for your hard work Jay. Really excited for this board!

Basically the top is blue-ish purple and the plate pink-ish purple
I'd say the pic is pretty close to actual color, so if you are not sure about the color, please always go by the pics. I'm not good at naming the colors as English is my second language.

Thanks. So, trusting the picture labels it should be "Blue Magenta" for the LA Lakers purple. :)
I hope nothing will get mixed up during anodizing.
Thanks for the invoice! I cant pay until i know the plate support full ISO functionality!?! and not only a ISO enter :-*

zzyjayfree did you send out all invoices already? Still didn't receive mine...Apparently PayPal has a limit for invoicing daily. Not sure if it's based on dollar amount or total invoice numbers.. I sent out 34 on Sunday and 32 on Monday. I'll send out more tonight.

Hi guys, I've got a few updates for Moon.
1) Some of you guys might have received an update for your invoice with 2-3 bucks increase. The reason is PayPal actually used 4.4%+$0.3 for fee calculation, I invoiced as 3.9%+$0.3. Please see below screenshot as proof..Show Image(http://imgur.com/WHoEEXQ.jpg)
$567.43x0.044+$0.3=$25.6682 <--- that's some solid math right there!
I'm not gonna bother send another one if you've already paid yours. Consider it as a treat from EVE for early birds. A sip of beer would be nice, isn't it?
Sorry if it caused any confusion and inconvenience to you..
2) I've got pics of PCB and plates now: http://imgur.com/a/P1kLV
Note the plate in the pics is for Mira but Moon is using an identical one. I hope you can tell if the PCB supports the layout you want from the pics.
Edit: also note the PCB isn't final product.
3) Due to invoice update, I was only able to send out a few invoices today. However, they are all created and saved in PayPal, so I'll have them sent out as soon as PayPal allows me to do so.
on the thread where we chose the logo designs you stated anyone who had entered would get a special keycap any luck we can see what it looks like :) hyped beyond the moon!

oh really? I missed that part
We have two winners! Winner for Logo is Stand.geeks (1st place for both 1st and 2nd vote)and for weight it's Gaiden (76 votes out of 129 responses)! Result link: https://goo.gl/doPKk2
To show our appreciation to these two amazing person, they will each receive 50% off on their order!
Or a cash reward (TBD) if any of them decides not to enter. Please pm me your option, whatever the decision is, it will not be published.
For everyone who submitted designs, you will receive an aluminum keycap in your order for free, winning or not.
Again, if you are not entering this GB, let me know so I can mail it to you. :thumb:
The cap does involve copyright and has been approved by the owner.
Anyways the winning logo is:Show Image(http://imgur.com/mf0NZQx.png)
and the winning weight is:Show Image(http://imgur.com/znqoI6q.png)
I understand this might not be your favourite design but keep in mind ultimately it's the board design that attracted us all!
We are currently analyzing entries from previous GB attempt and discussing color options.
Edit: all winning designs are still pending EVE's final approval, but I don't see a problem from here!

hmm, actually planned on putting it together myself, but maybe to save some time I'll consider having this done for me for once... a few questions though:

what sticker colours?
can lubing also be done?

If I'm not mistaken all stabs are PCB mounted.

not "costar" or "filco style". they are cheap and wobbly

:D Should be around the same time my switches arrive
Does this plate allow for switch top removal? :O
What are others thinking as far as extras needed for assembly?
Switches, LEDs if you're into that, I've seen stabs mentioned a few times, anything else?

I'm looking at using Holtites for this build as well. (Assuming they fit correctly in the pcb).
Is it too late to join this? The google order form is still open so I was wondering.

I think it was mentioned in the previous GB that holtites were not supported...but I would love to be wrong :D
This is probably a really stupid question but the guts of a novatouch wouldn't have a hope in Hell of a fit into this case, right? My preference is for tactile non-clicky and I've bought a bunch of switches for testing, but as nice as this case is my 'endgame' is still Topres.
I've requested pics from the assembly guy. Will update once I have it.Payment ended, all invoices are final. Each buyer will receive an email to confirm that the order is completed.
I've also pulled some strings to provide assembly service.

I might just be blind but I can't see a cable input anywhere and it makes it hard to order a matching cable :D
I assume this will take a standard USB micro? Not USB mini or USB-C?
Thank swangful for your help. Community spirit right there.
As for the LED I'll get it updated tonight. But I'm thinking I'll offer assembly at a later stage of the GB. Currently we are at CNC stage, I'll also update some production pics. There was some minor delay as EVE is working on Mira SE anodizing. I'll throw the album link here so you guys can get a grasp of EVE's finishing.

Thanks for the update! That anode looks great. Out of curioisity is the white-ish looking anode on image 6 in the album the same as the "light grey" colour for moon?
Looks close enough to me :D

Yep. Wasn't really expecting it, just hoping for a small update since it's been about 2 weeks since we've last heard anything.
Geekhack order is still in process of manufacturing. However, I got some pics of Chinese GB and they are ready to roll out pretty soon: https://imgur.com/a/6YloJ You'll able to find most of the color options from these pics, I hope it helps.

Wow, those are looking good! That green & purple Moon looks like it's fated to go with a troubled minds set.
I really hope none of this North Korea sanctions nonsense affects trade with China and this GB.

Bigger drill heads are used first to remove the big chunks of aluminum and then the smaller heads for details. After CNC is done, these cases still need to be hand polished. It's quite common for these kind of designs. And that's also why we did not recommend any extra top/bottom purchase as they might not fit perfectly. (It's less obvious for straight line designs)

Mid Autumn festival ends today so updates with meaning will most likely be early next week.
Oh ****, didn't realise that either and got a 6.25x space bar made already. i assumed wkl would be same layout just with the win keys Blocked out

Since this batch is delayed by others anyway, is there any remote chance of changing from winkeyless to winkeyed still?

Here we are nearing the end of the month. Any type of time frame update would be great. It is obvious that it is not going to make it by the end of the month, but an ETA would be great!

Just follow MIRAs GB. We are probably going to come after E8/MIRA :(
Is there a link or something from the Chinese group buy or anything where we can also see what's happening instead of "are we there yet" here?

Just to be sure...the wkl version is 7u and the winkeyed version 6.25? or are both 7u? Thanks.

Hi guys,
First of all, an apology for lack of updates recently. EVE is just working hard on Mira SE orders. There was some difficulties working on the anodizing. It's taking a much longer time than expected. We got that going already so Moon production will resume as soon as that wraps up. Meanwhile, I really appreciates that the community is helping out each other when I'm absent. :p
Enough of that, as for Moon, the CNC part is finished and the boards are being polished and getting ready for anodizing. Please find some raw Moon board from the link below :) You will also see some pics of brass plates as well, they look pretty nice to me :thumb:

I thought for a while that the MOON logo on the backside of the boards had been removed but the "cuts" (not sure what to call that) for the stripes are not there either.

Well someone posted this link a few posts above and these definitely have the logo and stripes.
https://2.taobao.com/item.htm?id=560731978534
So that's a good sign considering the logo and stripes are pretty much the main feature of the board. Hopefully we wont have to late too much longer before seeing some updated pictures.
That's a placeholder for the actual group buy, which has already run. You can tell by the price.
Those photos are the prototype, not a GB board.

China's buy is already shipped. They were not run in tandem.
Their group buy was run about 6 weeks before this one, that's why the weights are bars, and not cutouts. They had to change the logo, but the CNC had already started. It was the last keyboard EVE did before he moved his shop, which is what the MIRA/Moon delay is being caused by.
Are we looking okay to get shipments out by the end of the year?

Bummer. If this doesn't go out before the holidays I'm not gonna have a solid address for it to ship to :(Likewise for me if it doesn't happen (as in arrive/delivered) by mid-January at the absolute latest.
Still nothing from EVE? Because soon it will be Christmas period, then Chinese New Year, then we're into Q2 2018 for delivery.
Looks like Mira is gonna be shipping soon, so Moon should be right around the corner!
Also, that matching numpad for Mira looks pretty awesome, any possibility of Moon getting a matching one down the road?
+1 for the numpad. insta-buy for me
+1 matching numpad for my keeb would be really choice and an instant get.
Nice man! +1 for the numpad
Hey zzyjayfree, any extras? I know its super annoying in a thread when someone asks however, "You miss 100% of the shots you dont take - Michael Scott."
Did we ever find out if the PCB is holtite compatible? I found a question asking about it on the old GB thread, but I didn't see an answer. Apologies if this has already been answered.

Hmmm I'd say that's a good question, I could talk too EVE and see if he has any intention to make a matching numpad.

I would have probably been in for a 'moonpad' if the moon case had an extra hole for daisychaining the USB cables.
Yeah of course if the case was designed with the second hole you would assume the PCB also supports the second USB port :)I would have probably been in for a 'moonpad' if the moon case had an extra hole for daisychaining the USB cables.
something like this requires more than just a hole for a usb plug. the pcb would have to be designed to include a hub. its not a very common feature of keyboards, even among those mass-produced

Found the time to build it last week and now finally have a moment to do some typing on it! :thumb: Some quick phone pics:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/cSCZyH7.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/JQcADQD.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/Qvh6h5S.jpg)
I have been having some issues with programming tho. Kingnestea gave me the matrix code to use but some keys like F4 also trigger insert now? Any chance there could be a quick tutorial made for this? :)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/0w5UAMX.gif)
Very nice! So excited for ours to ship soon. Hope your programming issue gets resolved.

To be clear, I didn't get this from this GB. I got it via via from the Chinese GB (hence why I also have the old logo) :)
Sadly the guy shipping this didn't tighten a plate screw nearly enough, which came lose during shipping and scratched up my board next to the F1 key :| EVE was nice enough to offer to fix it though even tho I didn't get it from the GB :)

Did you get assembly service, or are these all shipped partially assembled? Btw, it looks fantastic.
Is there a breakout thing for the USB connector? In your pics it seems to be located very low compared to other boards. There is indeed!

Thanks, any pics on hand?
Thanks. Did you have to solder these wires straight to the PCB yourself or did the bundle include another connector to attach them to?I had to solder them to the PCB. I had some issues at first since I first tried to solder them to the holes for what normally would be the USB connector, but then I realised there were some larger and labeled holes below it Stupid mistake, but it worked out it the end.
The Revo & Dr.D TKL used a XH2.54 connector pair for the USB cable (pic here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=84328.msg2393839#msg2393839).
Thanks for these details. Maybe there will be room on the PCB to put of one those removable connectors. It could be that these holes were actually meant for that, but TBH soldering on the connector was pretty easy once I knew how.
Patients can only take you so far.
:raughs:Patients can only take you so far.
Yeah, you're right. They are sick and all, I'm sure they would need to break for a rest.
Yep you were right definitely a let down. I along with many others I imagine , was hoping this project would be a little further along. Pretty much the same progress from two months ago , just laid out differently. I guess we can expect this in another couple months if we are lucky ..
anyone know if the CN Edition Top Case part will fit on the international edition seemlessly?
got my hands on a CN version and considering on swapping the top parts
anyone know if the CN Edition Top Case part will fit on the international edition seemlessly?

no, it won't
each part has to be finished to fit a specific bottom, since the shape is so complicated
no moons can have case parts swapped, as far as i know

ok, fair enough... guessed as much. I'll probably still try once I've got both to see how much off it would be, but I won't be planning with it to work then ;)

i think the anodizing finish will also be noticably different, but you'll have to wait until it shows up to be sure
This should be good: anodizing is officially in process
I'm sorry to see one people decided to take a refund. I totally understand it, it's been dragged long. But I ask the rest of you guys to be patient as the end result for Mira SE turned out to be satisfying. EVE wouldn't let you down with the Moon.
Meanwhile I'll keep following up with EVE regularly. Wish I can be in factory 24/7 in person :p

How will the ano be different? I’m curious since I have a Chinese one.anyone know if the CN Edition Top Case part will fit on the international edition seemlessly?

I just hope the delay is not because of EVE taking on more keyboard GB/IC than trying to finish this off first. Cause i think i already saw 2 or 3 thread thats going to be done by him with alot shorter timeline than this GB which i dunno if feasible.

Yes, thats true. But some of them are designed by him which also takes up time. Anyways, thats just my guess, im just curious why those IC/GB can say like 4month or so when they can clearly see this and Mira taking so long to complete. Someone needs to do a better prediction, i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯I just hope the delay is not because of EVE taking on more keyboard GB/IC than trying to finish this off first. nah, boards get made in order, not all at once
that's why the lead time has increased over the last year

yeah i know that too as im watching MIRA GB as well. Also im not asking why we are delayed in this GB but hoping that him working on other project is not causing any more delays for this GB. I think im a pretty patient guy, being in Exent and EM7 GB as well but it just confuse me that new IC are popping up for EVE, with a timeline no less, while he have a massive delay on current GBs.Yes, thats true. MIRA got reworked a few times from what i heard, and EVE moved his shop which caused another month or 2 of delay
Guys, I'm sorry, I will sprint at the greatest speed. I want to do the beauty of the night, so the schedule is a bit slow. I'm sorry, I will update the oxidized MOON~ tomorrow night.
Thanks for the update. I, for one, don't mind waiting for a quality product. I'd prefer receiving something very well made with no corners cut to receiving something inferior but sooner.

Did we ever find out...Damn, forgot to test holtite sockets, already soldered my pcb, but the holes seemed tight enough to be able to fit them well.
1. Is the pcb holtite compatible?
2. The weight of the board?

As for the weight the cn edition is about 4.23kg with aluminium weight and plate. Feels a tad heavier than my skog

Actually there is, we have finished most of the anodizing and parts assembly (arrows, logo, weight) and we are now at packaging and shipping (to my proxy) stage. Expect shipping invoice shortly. However, due to Chinese New Year, they will be sitting in my proxy for a while as everything is closed during the Chinese New Year. It should be back to normal around Feb 22nd.

I forgot if this was listed anyway, but looking to confirm. From the cad drawings, the plate doesn't seem to support switch top opening right? I like to lube my switches, and will need to re-lube every now and then. Might have to find some stock ones that I can bear.

Have you tried the G0 lube? I haven't seen any impressions of it anywhere so I'm curious as to what would make it so that you would never have to relube again.

I was just looking at the pictures from the Chinese GB yesterday too. I think SA is definitely the profile for this keyboard. The sculpted keys go perfectly with the curves of this keyboard.
Received 58 boards at my proxy. Will start to submit shipping request tonight and invoices will go out once I know the charge. Please double check your order detail and shipping address before you pay.Amazing news!

I don't know if there's any particular order for EVE to send the boards to me but I'll be dealing with them by chronological order. Hope that kinda answer your question.
Invoice no 10!
Invoice no 10!
I meant chronological order of receiving boards at my proxy, not of ordering.. Sorry if I got you too excited.. The good news is I do have your board at mthe proxy.

Do you know when these will start shipping?
Sent out 10 invoices for shipping and plan to send out more this week.Do you know when these will start shipping?
Normally I wait till the next day to check if invoices are paid or not. If paid, I'll pay my proxy and they will start to arrange shipping. Normally it takes less than 2 days to get a tracking number.
Got my invoice. Let the carbon craze begin. Just in time for the set to arrive.jelly :'(
I just got the invoice!!. Where is the proxy located? Also which carrier will be use?
Sorry if those question been answer already, but I can't find the answer anywhere.
Sent out more invoices and updated tracking number for the first batch of lucky buyers

Have updates stopped on this? I paid early last week and haven't seen any confirmation of payment or tracking number, mostly just want to make sure payment was received OK.

Looks like mine is arriving today, yay! I wont have switches till later on in the week though so booooooooooo :(
EDIT: Holy ****, arriving on monday..that's fast. I'll post pics when it arrives!
Had to do overtime and got busy during the weekend. Will resume todayOK great. Was just paranoid that my payment might not have worked since it's the first time I've used my card since getting back from China where I had endless issues.
Just picked up my board...
Couple first impressions:
- HEFTYYYY. If I threw this keyboard at someone, I'd fear for their life.
- Brass isnt as shiny as I was hoping but still looks good.
- I'll need to learn how to solder the miniusb to the PCB
- I need some rubber feet, any recommendations?
- Case logo doesn't match the new logo, but no biggie
- Feels amazing overall. Lines are super clean. Curves even cleaner.

I just got my Moon today!
Great quality, looks beautiful, however the biggest thing I feared the most came true and I’m a bit crushed/bummed out.
I ordered a Blue Magenta Moon, with the Violet Purple plate (and extras). The sample picture in the original post showed Blue Magenta as Purple, and Violet Purple as a red wine color. I questioned the names, but was told it was most likely due to the language difference.
Opened up my Moon, and bam! It’s a Midnight Blue color, and the plate is the true Purple the case was supposed to be, not the purple shown in the sample picture. :(
There are pink splotches on the bottom of the board, and a screw wasn’t fastened, so I need to double check for a scratches later. (Gonna try cleaning the slight pink areas).
This wasn’t the color I ordered, BUT let me tell you, the board looks amazing, the quality is superb. I’m just hoping I can at least somehow get the color I ordered. :(
Not sure how to post pictures like you guys have (I’m on mobile). But I can post an imgur link later.
Overall, you guys will freak out when you get your Moon. It’s pretty beautiful. Quality is top notch for sure. I like it a lot.
Edit: Just in case I didn’t make it super clear, the only thing I’m bummed out about is the color. The quality is honestly pretty amazing. Best I’ve seen, better than Mira too.
is it standard in moon to have the usb unsoldered from the pcb?
didnt see in the posted pics that there is a daugtherboard and looks like the usb placing in the pcb is positioned correctly from the case usb hole altho abit deeper. So that means that its standard? Just curious cause it wasnt mentioned anywhere that it is.is it standard in moon to have the usb unsoldered from the pcb?

Now that you mentioned about it, i can definitely see the wires. now im thinking if the rgb pcb would work on this thats available in taobao. Also, kinda first for me that usb is not soldered as standard. still excited to get mine and hope everything is as stated in the invoice. the footprint of this board is kinda weird, so other PCBs might not work, i don't think a TX87 will just judging by the shape
i'd have to get some hands on time with one to confirm either way
soldering a USB port is pretty easy, there are plenty of guides if you just google it
and no problem, waiting for updates/answers is my number one pet peeve
although i admit sometimes i'm wrong, since posting incorrect answers tends to get people to post correct ones more quickly than just asking a question

Probably will have EVE send me some replacement parts when it's done, for now you'll have to live with it for awhile. Sorry about that
Real questions. @zz when are you going to talk to eve about making my a matching numberpad??? 😇😇 please and thankyou.
Ok Boys The time is here ....I got the same colors. That looks fantastic! I can't wait for mine to come! Shipping invoice, where are ya?
Build quality is top notch. lines meet with no hard edges, and colors are on point! No real issues in ano other than one spot but it is on bottom of board and it tiny. render pics and actual colors are always going to be different. Look at my carbon compared to the orange in the renders. Those pictures have been enhanced and viberance added .. You got the color advertised . sorry to say.

It wasn’t a render, it was an actual prototype per the OP.
I only posted for the curious, I’m very happy with the quality of the board itself, just wanted to point out the color differences with pictures, as my last post didn’t have any.

Hi p_blaze, just to be clear Unforgivable ordered blue magenta not purple. There's nothing surprising if the color look nothing like what he received. Those two would most likely to be violet purple, but without close up pic I can't tell for sure. This wasn’t the color I ordered
Hi Unforgivable, sorry dude I know there's appears to be some color difference between the prototype and final product. As Puddsy said there's hardly any consistency in anodizing world. I personally warned EVE for providing all these color options. But he insisted to go this way as some of the buyers didn't like the fixed options we initially provided. Not only anodizing inconsistency but also the lighting condition, equipment used for photo can contribute to the color difference. Now I'm not trying to talk myself or EVE out of this, just seeking your understanding of the situation. I'll pass this along to EVE and see what we can do for you.Stripes were supposed to match the bottom piece, but mine match the top. Anything I can do about that?
Sorry about the mix up. I'll make sure you get those fixed. Invisible stripes aren't as sexy.
I've sent out invoices to the buyers for first batch of 58 boards I received. I'll be sending reminders shortly and update status in order sheet as invoiced. If you see your status as blank and have not received an invoice, it means you are in the next batch.

OK now I'm kinda concerned then, because I paid my invoice on 28th Feb and have seen all these other updates but mine still showing nothing. I double checked with Paypal, transaction ID is 1GF05674TK477424B, is there any issue with my payment on your end?

I am in doubt. In that picture from the album:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/7bVdEmpm.jpg)
Is the top case "Blue Magenta" color correctly labeled? The plate color is labeled "Violet Purple" whereas it looks pinkish, rather magenta-ish than purplish.
Shouldn't that be the other way around, violet/purple top and blue magenta plate?
Good point, I just thought about that myself. I chose that combo, so I'm wondering about this too. I would be bummed out with a Magenta board instead of that amazing purple.I am in doubt. In that picture from the album:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/7bVdEmpm.jpg)

Basically the top is blue-ish purple and the plate pink-ish purple
I'd say the pic is pretty close to actual color, so if you are not sure about the color, please always go by the pics. I'm not good at naming the colors as English is my second language.
Just would like to ask if the tracking should be dhl cause mine was updated for a while but nothing comes up in dhl site.

Seems like theres nothing mapped when i jump with tweezers, and i want to know if i have a broken pcb before i start soldering.

It's supposed to use TMK so maybe ZZ or someone else can post up a working .hex for you.

Hi Krytone,

I got two PCBs and two plates so that I could swap out switch types easily, but, if this daughterboard is soldered to the PCB, would I need to get a second daughterboard? I'm wondering what the best approach is for this.
I received mine today, and, holy crap, it's hefty! There's a small scuff on left side and a slightly stripped screw hole on the brass weight, but otherwise it looks fantastic! Thanks for the excellent GB! Even though it took a little longer than expected, it went very smoothly with no drama, which is awesome!
Any word on the special keycap for those of us who submitted logo designs?

Additionally, every key is working except for R-WIN. I have a winkeyless model, so this will be my right-ALT. It doesn't register at all (with a switch in it or with tweeters shorting it). Has anyone else had this issue? I have a second PCB to test with, but I've already soldered the daughterboard to this one and can't desolder it now since the plate is in the way.

there might be a layout preflashed that doesn't have anything mapped to that part of the matrix
it's mostly an issue with bootmapper PCBs
i don't have one of these so i can't really help by sharing a keymap
Damn, that's a bummer to hear. I also got 2 PCBs and would've expected each to come with it's own daughter board. In fact, I wasn't even aware at the beginning of the GB that this would require an extra daughter board.

I will check the keymapping once I figure out how to get TMK working, which is apparently the most complicated thing in the world to set up (I have to install a Linux VM; wut?). I was hoping to avoid having to mess with it since it's just a TKL and doesn't need any special mapping, but I'll report back if that fixes the issue once I get it up and running. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ha, I actually used your pictures as a guide, so I soldered the wires in the same way you did. I plugged the PCB into my computer, and it was detected immediately and loaded the driver (Kimera core). I used tweezers to test five or six of the keys before building it.
Also, I just checked the carrying case again, and there is indeed a second daughterboard. I just didn't see it through all of the foam and bubble wrap. My apologies for any panic I may have caused.

Ah so with uploading a driver you got also a keymap with it? Could you care to explain how you did that?
I just need a default keymap so i can check if everything is working, and that i can start soldering.

Arent those to connectors for the daughter board? Solder the black one on the PCB and the cables in the white one, and then you can move the cable?
Alright so, i think i figured it out. All i need is a .hex file specifically for moon.
I think theres a default keymap on moon already, i probably just messed up. Correct me if im wrong.
On the back of the pcb by the spacebar area, there is a button. Do **not** press this, since it resets the board, with also wiping the keymap thats on it.
Ill add my usb wiring pics again, because these are correct. Please let me know your findings after soldering the usb and connecting to your pc, if there is already a default keymap.Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180310/88d3fd39111ee27172a461bd7ca28c50.jpg)Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180310/aba1db305b787f14fd3140bcfb51ab7a.jpg)Show Image(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180310/5e4e7cacbe8a52627eb002242fb13962.jpg)

I think I am in the same boat as you except I have a keymap but it seems to be very off (my 2 is backspace for example). Hopfully we can get a hex soon soon so I can build!
I've been looking into TMK a bit, but, since I'm just missing one key, I thought I didn't need to go through the whole firmware compilation and flashing procedure; I just need a keymap.
The first step would appear to be using the keyboard layout editor (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/) to create a layout and then using TMK Keymap Generator (https://tkg.io/#) to create a keymap from the raw data (it even has "Kimera" as one of the keyboards listed in the dropdown. I selected "Kimera 3000" in the config tab) and download it. That's where I get a bit lost. Do I have to re-build the firmware with my particular keymap and then reflash the PCB? Is that how this works?
I'm really terrible with this kind of thing unless there are explicit instructions.
Is anyone who received theirs already willing to share a top-down photo of the full PCB?
Great looking board. Bummer that the china gb file doesn't work. I'm hoping once I get mine in I'll be able to port it over to qmk relatively quick.
I used tkg.io to try and flash the matrix and layout of a friend who was in the china gb and it didn't seem to work for me. I think I just need to figure out the correct key matrix and it should be fine, Im terrible at this stuff though and I talked to a buddy that runs a keyboard repair/service and hes gonna swap it over to qmk and do a layout for me. Kinda sad since I wanted to do this all myself but Im not gonna have time in the future.
In any case heres some pics.Show Image(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/348904675883352065/422207019572002826/image.jpg)Show Image(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/348904675883352065/422207058578767872/image.jpg)Show Image(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/348904675883352065/422207037309714442/image.jpg)
Hey there, I was away for a while, life got in the way. I see there seems to be a lot of questions regarding the mapping and soldering. As I don’t have the board myself yet (gotta send out as many as possible to buyers first..), I can’t say much about it. But I’ve request an instruction from the PCB designer. Hopefully I’ll get it soon!

I just soldered my second PCB to its daughterboard, and it has the same issue in which every key registers except R-WIN. This makes me lean more towards a keymap issue since I doubt the same key would be defective on two PCBs. I still haven't got around to messing with TMK.
mine is doing the same thing
Is it safe to use brass polish on the weights?
EDIT: Nevermind, just ended up using water, vinegar, and lemon juice and it cleaned the brass up perfectly.
Some shots for you guys:

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out; however, it feels noticeably more rough than mira did. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but the logo on the back and the weight on the bottom don't sit quite flush, the logo is slightly raised, while the weight is slightly recessed. My top plate also came somewhat marked up, pictured below.

I haven't gotten around to soldering the switches in yet; like others, I accidentally pressed the reset button, not knowing it flushed the settings out, so I'm waiting on a hex file to start checking the pcb. :(
Edit: I just unscrewed my weight to take a look at it, and as it turns out, the right most hole doesn't seem to be threaded at all, or is incorrectly threaded, the right most screw isn't securing the weight at all. I'm guessing this might have something to do with my weight not sitting flush. Hmm... :|
Also, I guess while I'm complaining, I wish the pcb supported split right shift. :(

Good to know, I was wondering how I should clean them.

yeah, thanks man. saw that too and was just confused why its taking long in the origin custom. But no worries, i can wait :thumb:11 days down and my board is still in China :(
Ye normally it's much quicker.. But I can see there's an update today says "customs release" from about 6 hours ago. Hopefully it will be fast from this point on.

That seems to have done the trick for one of my boards!
My second board seems to be behaving much differently however. After following the steps, the flash doesn't seem to be taking. :(

My second board also seems to have come with a usb already soldered on, anyone know if this is the cause of all my woes?

WKL uses 7u spacebar and stab.
I got WKL and used a 6.25u space bar fine. See attached.
Have I second the comments earlier about the finish. Overall it's built like a tank, love the weight, and the anodising looks great. The weights look very sloppy by comparison - loose fit and only partly flush with the case. The rear logo sticks out but at least evenly so seems intentional.
Overall it's a great case, I just screwed up by getting PCB mount stabs instead of plate mount. Waiting for the replacements to arrive so I can finally use this beauty on a regular basis...
I reconfigured the matrix mapping to accept an ANSI WKL layout (snippet below). The issue I'm running into is that my computer does not see the PCB controller as ATm32U4DFU, but rather as "Kimera (Interface 0)", "Kimera (Interface 1)", "Kimera (Interface 2)", "Kimera (Interface 3)", and "Kimera (Interface 4)" (five separate devices?). Anywho, I install the driver with Zadig on all of them, but tkg.io shows "No devices found" in the "Burn .eep file" dropdown. How do I get the website to recognize the keyboard controller?

I got WKL and used a 6.25u space bar fine. See attached.
Have I second the comments earlier about the finish. Overall it's built like a tank, love the weight, and the anodising looks great. The weights look very sloppy by comparison - loose fit and only partly flush with the case. The rear logo sticks out but at least evenly so seems intentional.
Overall it's a great case, I just screwed up by getting PCB mount stabs instead of plate mount. Waiting for the replacements to arrive so I can finally use this beauty on a regular basis...

I received my Moon TKL from DHL last night.
I unpacked all of the components, and while I have not had the chance to test the PCBs due to the nature of the breakout pieces, I discovered an unfortunate defect on my WKL top -- right above the navigation cluster, as seen below. As you can see, the defect is a chip on the anodized black surface, so the bare aluminum is exposed:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/YYk16AJ.jpg)
Even though this is unfortunate, I just went ahead to report the finding to zzyjayfree and asked if I can get a replacement WKL top. The switches going into this keyboard are ready to go. I hope I will catch a break to assemble it soon.
Who here has gotten the PCB to work fully?
(Attachment Link)
this means your board has already been flashed with a layout... probably need to reset the board with the onboard switch to get it to show up as an atmega again
Edit: I can tell you this evening, wanna flash a different layer layout onto one of mine, I don't really need a scroll lock key
What other PCB would fit in this? Issues and lack of support is making me question weather I should even bother with this build. Completely absurd the lack of knowledge about this software. And it seems no one on the vendor side seems to care I mean they have the money already why shilould they 🤔

So I've finally figured it out!
---
First of all, follow FactoryDefault's basic instructions here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=90379.msg2577205#msg2577205)up until the BEGINNING of step #6 where they ask you to open tkg.io and select Kimera. Don't forget to install the Chrome TKG.io Add-on (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tkg-chrome-app/kmbmjdabhpdnpeobnbdchihdcdaccidi).
By having the Device Manager open and experimenting with pressing the Reset button in the underside of the PCB near the spacebar, I found out that it may not be necessary to use Zandig 2.3 to install the driver -- as it will automatically be ATM32u4DFU after you press the RESET button one or two times.
At this point, ensure that the Burn .eep file drop-down menu shows the ATM32u4DFU device. Otherwise, press the RESET button, wait, and refresh the tkg.io website until the device shows.
Continue following FactoryDefaults' instructions...
**Here, I made the silly mistake of not setting the Col Mapping from numbers 20 through 30. (see below)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/DOIy6WY.png)
For those using the regular bottom row (standard 1.25u modifiers and 6.25u spacebar), follow FactoryDefaults guide.
-------------------
For those trying to figure out the Winkeyless or 1u symmetrical blockers keymapping for the bottom row, use the following in Matrix Mapping.Code: [Select]["1,1",{x:1},"1,2","1,3","1,4","1,5",{x:0.5},"1,6","1,7","1,8","1,9",{x:0.5},"1,10","1,11","7,1","7,2",{x:0.25},"7,3","7,4","7,5"],

Then, once you close the dialog box with the row/col/matrix mapping, under Layer0, this is the DEFAULT layer keymap for WKL style TKLs:Code: [Select]["Esc",{x:1},"F1","F2","F3","F4",{x:0.5},"F5","F6","F7","F8",{x:0.5},"F9","F10","F11","F12",{x:0.25},"PrtSc","Scroll Lock","Pause\nBreak"],

If you want to edit your layers accordingly, simply click on Help in the TKG.io site (don't open in new tab), and a window will pop up with information about your options for key configuration! You can use fn0, fn1, ..., to access layers beyond the default one.
For example, in my case, I substituted Caps Lock for LCtrl, as I like to use that position of Caps as Control key, and since I will be using a WKL top (1u blocker), I reprogrammed LCtrl to Win, because I will need a Winkey somewhere. I also replaced Scroll Lock for fn0, so I could access 1 layer below (Layer 1).
I hope this helps! :thumb: ;D
As for bumpons I just looked for 3m bumpons on eBay and got ones that were cheap and numerous! I personally prefer the small circular lumps over the flat ones.So I've finally figured it out!

I think this did the trick! Thank you! I guess the problem is that I was leaving the keys under the blockers out of the matrix; whereas, you left them intact but mapped them differently (except R-ALT). This worked on my spare PCB, so I'm going to try it on my built board.
Also, nice photos! Which bumpons did you get? I really need a set for mine.

In the way that the daughter board is soldered in the previous examples, the wires actually get twisted pretty bad when you mount the keyboard since the orientation of the connector in that sample pic needs a 180 rotation to sit on the housing. it seems like at least to me, the daughter board wires should be flipped in order to solder it on in a way where the orientation allows it to sit flush on the housing without stressing the joints.
Also is anyone else getting crazy pinging? I'm using the brass plate over the PCB. The board pings like crazy.
Also using the software TKL layout on page 13, every key boards except bottom right window key which I assumed is actually working but is just matched to function key with the function layer being equal to the top layer? anyone else got this behavior?
Another software question, once you load a layout, to change it does that mean you need to put the board back into a loading state, i.e you have to basically reload firmware? after you load the keymap once, the chrome app no longer detects the board.
Hey couple of notes from my build.

check the posts above (page 15 for a better WKL layout), but yes, hit the reset button on the board to have it detected as atmega again.
haven't noticed too much pinging on my brass plate, but I'm using MX silent black. What switches did you use? (Or is the plate not screwed on to the top tight enough?)
as for the mini-USB daughter-board: did you solder the wires on between the Plate & PCB or on the underside of the PCB? (I've got it on the underside and after the case is screwed shut, it shouldn't be too bad for the joints. (except you wires are shorter than mine))
One of the PCBs I received has a defective enter key, due to what appears to be a switch pin hole drilled out way too large: https://imgur.com/a/sUkYd
The solder doesn’t really make good contact with the pad, which wasn’t all that large to begin with.
The other PCB I got also has this issue, but at least the key works. Heads up to everyone to check your PCB for this before getting to work.
Second batch incoming
How do I make the moon logo stick? ??? I shouldn't have removed it to clean it in the first place. :(

you could try loctite metal epoxy... but then it's locked tight ;)

I wouldn't want that! haha.
Though there seems to be a liquid applied, just have to know what it is.
Have someone found a way to enter bootloader without using the reset switch? I'm sure there's some button combination I haven't found yet.
giving this another try.
If someone has an extra PCB&Daughter-board (i will take the plate too if you want), I will buy it off of you. My PCB was DOA and the daughterboard MIA. i don't know when i am going to be able to get a replacement.

Did you get any info on replacements from zzyjayfree? I am facing the same issue of a dead PCB (but at least I have a daughterboard).

Have people received their shipping invoices?
Does anyone know if there is a file for the plate to get it custom cut at a local store by any chance?
Was finally able to put together the board but have this problem where every key works on the board except to the ones to the left of the ";" key doesn't work. Don't know what is going on with the PCB since it was working fine for an hour or two and when I came back had this issue. Any help on how to possibly fix it would be greatly appreciated!

1. Are you using screw-in stabilizers, and if so, have you checked that the nut does not touch any traces? If you are and there's interference with traces, use a spacer to isolate the nut from the back of the PCB.
2. If you're not using screw-in stabilizers, check that all the traces are good (i.e. no cut traces).
I'd check the traces from the controller very carefully with a magnifying glass and that various SMD parts are soldered on well. Some cuts or cracks can be very fine and maybe there's missing solder. A multimeter could help too to check all the diodes.

Alright I'll try that out later this week when I have time to see if all the diodes work and everything. Weird since it was working when I originally tested the board by shorting the pads and even after I soldered the board for an hour or 2 then suddenly stops working. Thank you for the advice and hopefully everything is in working order!

Oh if it worked earlier and now doesn't, then I'd definitely check if you haven't accidentally damaged a trace or somehow joined a couple of traces with too much solder (or damaged a diode accidentally). Not saying any of it is your doing, just things to rule out.
Moving soon, really hope the board gets shipped before that :(
I paid for shipping for all paid invoices. Only two left now but that's due to address change. I'll update the tracking numbers once I have them

Updated some invoices just now, find the tracking number in order status in the main post. I'll get to warranty parts soon. Sorry for the delay
What are you shipping by? Wanna track but I'm not sure where to check ><

Most should be UPS, if you can't get a it from UPS try 17track for sure
Hmm i got a text from some number, no idea who's delivering it, and 17track isn't helping at all, guess it'll be a surprise.im from Malaysia and they shipped mine using the link below.

Might be the same as mine since we are almost the same country :))
Mine came via DHL yesterday.
i think this board is too gorgeous to stop in tkl layout. Hope to see this board in 1800 or any other layout ^-^

How many people had non-functional PCBs in this GB? I thought there were issues with key mapping but I didn't realize people were receiving duds. I haven't tried mine yet, waiting for some switches to come in before starting my build.

i know a couple people got duds, but the difficulty of programming also applies in this situation
Does Tx87 pcb fit in the Moon?

Mine is just sitting gathering dust. The Caps Lock and Enter are both non-responsive on my PCB and from the support on other PCB issue posts I don't see a replacement as likely so I'm just waiting for an opportunity to sell the body and plate on their own. Expensive group buy lesson learned :(
I also have the non responsive caps/enter keys. Sigh.

No, since moon uses daughterboard.
Does Tx87 pcb fit in the Moon?
No, since moon uses daughterboard.
Technically it seems like it would work if you can simply wire the mini USB port to extend it to the opening in the case. I've just overlaid a TX87 PCB, and everything lines up well, and there are no clearance issues in the case if you desolder the preattached mini USB socket. So if you use the daughter board for the mini USB port and the supplied wires to provide the extension, I think it should work. The daughter board is just a straight up signal line extension board, there's no microchip on it or anything like that.

theoretically yes, but tx87s are notorious for having issues if you **** with the USB port
you could do it the phantom way, and just get a long cable and live with using a fixed cable

Interesting, this is probably subject for a dedicated post elsewhere, but if you have a quick response with references, could you say why they have issues with the USB port? I mean the USB port is just a physical attachment with a few soldering points, so I don't see why extending that attachment is going to be a problem, as long as everything is properly isolated and correctly attached.

Unfortunately I've just put the kit away again and don't feel like unpacking it yet again (until it's time to do assembly), but the mini USB port might have some clearance issues with the plate (plate goes over it). It could be okay to leave the port there, if there is enough room for the plate above it, and just put electrical tape over it. Then attach the extension wires as jumpers, to the PCB, bypassing the installed socket.
Wondering if the KBDfans KBD8X PCB might be another potential replacement to the PCB. I sent Wei an email to see what he thinks. Long shot, I know.
Also, Scott, at LFKeyboards graciously offered to make a replacement PCB depending on how many people are interested. If people want to let me know I can get him involved. I for one have a completely defective PCB so I may go in for 2, so I have an extra.Does this include the USB port breakout?

I think so as I called it out on my original email to him but I will double check just to be certain.

I'm both glad and terrified that I'm not the only one experiencing pcb issues.
I wouldn't mind a higher quality replacement as well.

Once I get a few more questions answered from LFKeyboards regarding the design, I can relay general interest to them to try to keep it organized and easier for them. I'm saying this while trying being very careful not to be a de facto GB runner on a PCB :)
Luckily they're set up to process orders online, so I just need to get them a head count once it looks like they can produce what we need.
had a chance to look at one of these in person last night: any A87 PCB should fit as long as you can solder the daughterboard to it

C3 was saying B87 + Moon Daughter board. Can you confirm again?
Hi C3, what should I be selecting if I need a pcb to replace Moon TKL? Will the pcb fit exactly on Eve Moon?B.87 with no usb port. You have to use the daughter board in the Moon Kit. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Hi guys, here's a quick update:
LFK confirmed that if we can get a MOQ of 5 PCBs, they'll produce a replacement PCB with the following details:They also said that if we order more than 5 then the price will possibly come down, depending on qty. At this point I just need a head-count so PM me if you are indeed interested with your email address and order qty so I can relay that information to LFK. They can figure out how they want to process the orders. I'll buy 2 PCBs if we can hit MOQ so basically half-way there.
- USB breakout like the Moon PCB
- In-switch backlighting compatible
- QMK support so fully programmable
- Alps support (but that would obviously require a different plate)
- Lead-time is 4-6 weeks, once they have all the dimensions + some additional time, once it's in their regular order queue
- Pricing $70 + $8 USPS priority shipping US, or $25 first-class shipping internationally
...

This is quickly going from what was already an expensive group buy to a painfully expensive one :( But being the big subscriber to sunk cost fallacy that I am, I would be in for this. A $600 keyboard that works is better than a $530 keyboard with two of the most important keys not working. Just one PCB for me. If we end up close to a price drop threshold I could possibly be convinced to buy two but would rather just the one if possible.
I don’t think a replacement from the original source will be available anytime soon, if at all. If you read through the last two pages of this thread, you’ll have information about the two current options for replacing the PCB!
We understand that there are a couple of issues with the PCB and the is nothing close to ideal at all. We have found a much better source as PCB solutions of future GB on geekhack or rmm, if there's any.. With the new born coming in Aug, I'll be pretty busy. We'll see.
Again, sorry about the imperfection. I've found a US proxy, and you can send the faulty parts to the proxy and then they will be forwarded to EVE in China. Same thing when the parts come back. I'll send each buyer with issue(s) once I'm done.
Thank you for your patience.
Is there a proxy in asia I can forward the PCB to?
Or can I send to Eve directly for Asia to fix the board?
any further news? Still just sitting here with a case.
If you have a spare/unwanted PCB and Daughterboard, I will buy it. sitting here with just a case is really sad.
Side note, anyone try the KBD8x? I don't think it shipped yet, but i am hoping. Looking for anything to get this keeb done.

If you don't find a daughterboard for a while, you could just attach a USB cable directly to the PCB temporarily. The daughterboard is a simple pass-through piece to mount the mini USB port in the right place--it's not required for the keyboard to work.

Not above that, just wishing I could have it how it was intended. Mine didn't come with one and my board sorted out .
Is the special keycap for the logo designers still happening?

There was a special keycap? I am just joining the thread now as I am getting a moon and I'd like some info about that if you don't mind :)

If you're really desperate, I have a spare plate/PCB/daughterboard. Swapping plate/PCB on this keyboard is a real hassle, so I'll probably just stick with the one I have in the keyboard. (My original plan was to have a loud clicky version and silent version and swap them out for home and work).
I have already soldered switches into it, but I've been needing to desolder them anyway since I went with too heavy of springs.
PM me if interested.

Did you test that all keys work? My concern with getting another of the original PCBs is my own has 2 dead keys and there has been such a significant failure rate across the board.
Anyone have any spare brass stripes that they'd be willing to part with? I received the wrong color stripes, and didn't bother ordering spare brass stripes, so I'm looking for some replacements. Starry night grey would work too, but I'm not expecting anyone to have spares of that.
PM me if you're interested and we can work something out.

So any update on the pcb replacement situation? Or am I gonna have to get a different pcb entirely that does work. You might have better luck with the C3-LDN80, a TX87 PCB, or Hineybush's upcoming H87 PCB if you don't get an update from zzyjayfree!

Yeah im planning to go with hineys h87 if zzjayfree doesn’t get back to me in time. Though either way I’d still like a replacement pcb, simply because I paid for a working pcb, so I should get a working pcb.

Yes, I will finish all the progress in progress. There is moon 65% 60 now. :thumb:
I like this style very much, but ZZ doesn't know who sent it to me. I feel lucky to have done a few samples, but I like it very much. I don't know what you think, very close to the MiraSE keypad.

EVE, this seems to be the interest check for that keyboard: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=90194.0
I always like HHKB layout boards, and I do like the side profile of that. There's always quite a few HHKB layout boards coming out each year, though. Speaking of the MIRA SE keypad, I hope that happens soon so I can have it next to my MIRA SE. :thumb:
My board was reset when I received it and I never touched the reset button.. but went through the trouble of re-programming it Kimera with the instructions here so I could test it... only to find two dead keys... Argh... then I took a real close look at the diodes on those two keys and noticed that they looked like the left contacts were not touching the pads because the diode was installed too far to the left and it missed the pad so I re-soldered the two Diodes and boom - now working! Took me a few months to get around to building this board but finally looks like I can do it.

Sorry brother actually PCB I paid the most expensive cost of production cost making the most failure cost, I understand everyone's mood, but I will use the most love heart to solve the problem, I have received the ZZ after sale list including the miraSE has been arranged in the process of the new express to you old iron.Thank you EVE for addressing this. I hope this is all taken care of soon.
Hey, sorry I'm super late to this, but I just got the chance to start building and I can't get the computer to recognize either of the 2 PCBs I got. Am I doing something wrong, or are the PCB issues that common? I only received 1 daughterboard, so that could be what's not working, it's hard to test that though. I'm pretty new at this though so any help would be really appreciated it.
I just soldered the USB connector wires to the PCB like in the pics posted in this thread and plugged it into the PC. No usb device detected with either board. Here is a pic of my soldering the daughterboard:

Try pressing the RESET button on the bottom of the PCB. It should be near the spacebar holes. Do this while the PCB is connected.
I'm hoping I've found the problem with my PCB's, but I'm not sure what to look for to fix it though.. All of the pcbs I've worked on have been pre-soldered, and when I looked back swangful's photo I noticed his PCB had a red box below the daughterboard connection point that mine don't have. Is this an additional part that I need to get from somewhere and install on the pcb before it will work, or should it have come already installed or with the board? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just really hoping to get this board to work.

Thank you for the replies swangful and poolside. That's a pretty big bummer, but at least I can stop messing with it now that I know they're duds. I've already sent ZZ a pm about the dead PCBs, but in case that doesn't pan out, has anyone found a good alternative pcb that works with the moon daughterboard so we can use a detachable cable?
This is an option https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=95713.0Looks like that closed over a month ago. Even then:
Hineybush's tkl PCB would work too, and that's QMKThis is an option https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=95713.0Looks like that closed over a month ago. Even then:
* would need to de-solder the mini-USB connector to connect the daughterboard to fit the case
* no detail on what is meant by 'programmable' - yet another closed-source firmware PCB is really not appealing at this level.
Other than for those two points it looks really appealing if they do another round, but I'm still maintaining hope for a resolution through zz and/or EVE.
PCB has contacted the manufacturer to re customize, the process needs a point time arrow color problem has been in the oxidation process, MiraSE I mended 5 sets of keyboard including copper weight people do not need to re - fill the express, my side everything is ready to make up for the needs of everyone. I'll be here forever. Thank you for understanding and tolerance.I'm still waiting for a black WKL top. When will the machined pieces be done?
Pardon me for not reading through the 18 pages, is there a chance for a round 2? Most beautiful tkl to date imho.

Any word on replacement PCBs?
We understand that there are a couple of issues with the PCB and the is nothing close to ideal at all. We have found a much better source as PCB solutions of future GB on geekhack or rmm, if there's any.. With the new born coming in Aug, I'll be pretty busy. We'll see.
Again, sorry about the imperfection. I've found a US proxy, and you can send the faulty parts to the proxy and then they will be forwarded to EVE in China. Same thing when the parts come back. I'll send each buyer with issue(s) once I'm done.
Thank you for your patience.
PCB has contacted the manufacturer to re customize

There has been talk of a few options for an aftermarket PCB but one of those group buys has closed already and I'm not aware of any others in progress yet. So for now we're still stuck on the dark side of the Moon.

Don't really want to hijack but since my project has been mentioned in the thread before, this exists and will go for sale in 2-ish weeks: http://shop.hineybush.com/product/h87a
Since there are quite a few of us who need a PCB, will there be an option of no usb port soldered?
Pins to solder a daughter board on (Moon TKL, for example)
Breakaway USB port for cases that use USB daughterboards

Thank you for the update :D Patience is one thing, but patience is so much harder when left in the dark.
Hello all, I spoke to Eve on behalf of the Moon GB.
[1] Per Eve's response, he is currently CNC'ing the replacement stripes.
[2] As for the PCB, he is also waiting to buy JJ's replacement PCB.
I am not sure on the timeline, but I will be glad to give any updates if there is any. (I am not the GB runner).
Edit: Eve's is a not a native English speaker, I am writing this update on his behalf.
Updates on the pcb timeline: At least 3 weeks more to go for the PCB manufacturer to deliver. Since the replacement qty is small, smaller MOQs are shafted to the end of the production queue since July.
Eve has no intention to run away from this nor deny any responsibilities for moon GB. He sincerely apologizes for this mishap.
He has been busy with the recent GBs so far (I am pretty sure you guys can tell from the GBs) and has been trying to source for replacement PCBs.
He promises to conclude the buy properly and told you guys not to worry.
Will help you ask, but i can't guarantee anything for you since I am not the runner.Thank you!!
Another possibility: this PCB group buy just went live:
https://shop.hineybush.com/product/h87a-gb
EVE still around? Would it be possible to just get a refund on the value of the PCB and we source an alternative ourselves such as the group buy listed above?
Sorry for not being clearer, the question was aimed at EVE, or failing that jay if he's still lurking around here :P
Anyone here had the issue that the pcb just shows up as 2 hid devices after resetting it? How do I get it to show up as atmega again?

nah, that was fine... turns out it started having problems with other drivers of custom boards, still not showing up in TKG though... ???Anyone here had the issue that the pcb just shows up as 2 hid devices after resetting it? How do I get it to show up as atmega again?

check your daughterboard solder joints, might have a short
Some new updates from Eve, the replacement PCB is ready and will be shipped out soon. Apologies for the long delay and thanks for your understanding on this.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/vUTpw4B.jpg)

My PCB was DOA as well. How are people securing replacement PCBs?
(Attachment Link)
These kind of contacts were the sketchiest on the original board. Hopefully they're better this time around.
Looks the same but it's just red and it doesn't have the SMD stuff on it... anyway, updates are good

I will follow up with Eve on your top case.
I have spoken to Eve, and he will be sending me all Mira and Moon PCB replacements. I will try to get the list of names and address from those that requires replacement.
Once I receive them, I will invoice shipping cost out before delivering them to you guys.
Cheers.

Where (as in country) does that mean they're getting shipped to? I guess that means direct shipping from China is not an option.
Attached is a quick guide on how to get a default tkl layout working on moon.
This is simply an instruction about what i did while following the guide, and i hope this will work for you as well.
If i can figure out how to remap keys, ill put that in a separate guide.
So I’ve been a little out of the loop but are there any viable replacement boards out there right now? I ordered 2 pcbs and one appears to have melted diodes and the other is completely missing the mini usb. I talked to miki and apparently there aren’t enough replacement pcbs from eve. So, is there anything out there that can turn my $600 paperweight into a functioning keyboard?

I hope the Hineybush h87a fits, if you use the daughterboard. But the GB ended, so you may have to hope for extras or /r/mm...

This one works:

I'm currently using it in my Moon since the PCB that originally shipped to me from Eve never worked. They can also make replacement plates for the Moon. I ordered a plastic one that matches the original Moon plate perfectly, except for no logo.
moon uses a jane plate, so it's just standard
the files are floating around somewhere if you want a wacky material or something

Hey Mikiberry,
Did zzjayfree send over his list, or will we have to recontact you if we had an issue that was submitted through him?
Thanks for handling this btw!
I have bad threads or not long enough screws on one and a bad pcb on the other, I pm'd over the full details to zzjayfree, but never heard back, but I assumed it was because he was dealing with so many other issues.

He had a kid a few months back and has been largely MIA here since
Should I send my problems over to Miki too since he's handling the replacements?
Hello, i keep getting additional rma requests on top of the existing screenshotted list for replacement. I need a cut off for issues reported because there would no end for me. You report issues to me, but i cannot guarantee you anything. I will forward your responses to eve. Also i will be charging shipping for replacement parts, as i do not wish to incur any cost at my end.I don't know how you got roped into being the proxy for everything. I really do appreciate stepping up and helping fix everything but it seems pretty unfair to be dropped into your lap. Either EVE should be available to handle this, or zzjayfree since they were organising the buy from the start. I can sympathise that he had a child on the way and there are bigger priorities in life than keyboards, but just dropping everything cold and going MIA once the products finally started landing and showed consistent deal-breaking issues is not exactly great form. It shouldn't be a lucky dip or lottery to determine if you get a working PCB or a paperweight.
Eve is ready to handle, just can't speak English lol.:)) fair point
Forgive me if this has been covered, this thread is huge. But does anyone know where I could purchase the daughterboards for the Moon? Or, compatible products you guys may have tried that works? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

tl;dr you can't, wait for EVE
Anyone know what resistors the OG board uses/ I found one of my pcb to be missing a single resistor on a key.
Or any other resistor sku I can use instead. Thanks!

any smd resistor will do, stock ohmage is probably in the 400-600 range
diodes are 1n4148

measure/check the package size as well
I finally got around to putting this thing together. One PCB seems to work, no flashing required. The second one shows up in tkg.io and I followed FactoryDefaults guide and everything seems to flash but none of the keys register. It doesn't look like there are any missing components.
Any thoughts?
I have received 13 replacement pcbs and daughterboards. For those with only PCB problems give me until next week to find a cheap and reliable shipping method to get these to you.
Will invoice shipping cost before shipment. It is late now, I will email those in my listing for address.Show Image(https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/505184581738037261/520844751646490624/20181208_141047.jpg?width=1730&height=1298)
Edit: I have yet to receive other replacement parts besides PCB. I am still chasing for it. Please bear with me awhile to sort it out.

Legend! At well over a year past original expected delivery date, still a lot of bricks around and no sign from zzjayfree for months now, it was more often than not feeling like a lost cause.

Does anyone know what the thickness of the plate is? 1.5mm like usual?
I am missing like 2 to 3 pcbs for everyone, as well as some wrong parts. I have sent out a pm to those with issues i can resolve. If you are not contacted, please be patient.
Meanwhile would appreciate the people whom received my pm to provide me with shipping address and paypal address. After 7 days of incommunicado, i will shift down the list to other people that needs the pcb.
It has been a long and arduous ride for some, so please bear with me a little while more while i get things sorted out for a gb not mine.

Sounds like yet more problems coming from EVE's end? :(
anyone got an extra plate?Any Mira, Orion, Jane (pre v2) or mech27 plate should fit also. Widen your search
hey guys. I recently bought a moon tkl from another member somewhere and was wondering if there's a way to flash(?) a media layer on the keys/pcb. has anyone done this with their kb?
are there any spare pcbs available? or perhaps other pcbs that will fit?

Novelkeys is selling the Hineybush's PCB which fits.
The H87a is the single best thing you can add for this board, tbh.
Non-US \ and |
section. You've probably done this, but just in case, have you seen this?
https://tkg.io/#help
There are the available designations in theCode: [Select]Non-US \ and |
section.
Looks like it's "|", "\", and "iso |" for those.
Also the English guide posted in this thread lists ISO default layout you can copy-paste. Attached to this post: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=90379.msg2577205#msg2577205
Curious, has anyone gotten their replacement PCBs yet?Yep got mine several weeks ago
