The main mouse button is the one on which the index finger lies when at rest. So essentially the device requires you to hold it by the main mouse button. Dumb.

I bought one of those for $5 and it was overpriced. My plan is to put it into another enclosure, say maybe a keyboard.

My Trackpoint L40 makes a good handheld tracking ball.

I used to have something very similar to this, but it was white and only had the 'trigger' button. The ball is way too small to be comfortable to use.

I bought one of these from a vendor at my very first computer show I believe in 2000. It was all white/beige but otherwise identical. Played through Diablo II with it, and it was quite comfortable as I find most other trackball devices to be too big for my hands. First time I dropped it though, the ring that held the ball in broke.
