JD40 casing/mounting plate

Hey

Still pretty fresh to the keyboard making game, just wondering if anybody could help me out with jd40 cases/mounting plates, as in is there anywhere that sells them or do people generally make their own if they don't buy it as a kit?
If that's the case where's a good place to start in regards to making my own?

I've been planning on building on in the near future as well. I'm probably going to go with the plate + case from Big Blue Saw:

I've seen them suggested in the past, but I can't personally vouch for them.

Oh nice! That looks like a really good option, touch pricey but it seems making keyboards just is pricey haha wish I could just get the mount plate and the back plate though, you know if aluminum or stainless steel is better? I'd assume the aluminum?

The parts we put on the website are examples to give you an idea of prices. We haven't actually tested any of the designs with a real JD40 circuit board & switches, though I believe it should be at least workable.

Somebody elsewhere pointed out that the slot for the cable was in the wrong place for the JD40 example, but I have no way of knowing if this is correct.

If someone could verify our design or post a design that works for sure, that would be greatly appreciated.

I can verify for the newest JD40 PCB being sold at techkeys.us your case won't work as the USB port is in the wrong location.

Also for the top plate design you have posted there is no way to mount it as according to the render it doesn't have any mounting holes.

I would suggest creating a design with the Swillkb Plate and Case Builder then tweaking the design as necessary using 2d CAD software.

Currently I am looking at using http://builder.swillkb.com/ to to get an initial starting point and edit it a bit, Then I'm going to be using the cnc mill and laser cutter at my local maker space to make up the parts.
JD40s seem to be very few and far between so not many people make cases and stuff for them, looks like you gotta make your own

I'm considering trying to pcb mount the new revision pcb.

oh that would be excellent, I just got my PCB from there, I think I'll still give making one a crack, see how it turns out.

Yeah I saw that, which is cool, I'm a bit funny on group buys unfortunately.

However I already have a PCB and the Aussie dollar would put me at paying a pretty high premium if I jumped either of these.
I like the idea of DIYing as well XD haha

If I make it myself I've only gotta pay for materials 

Buying from 1upkeyboards is my backup if I fail miserably
