I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but I see the port for this is centered and the OP says RGB bottom. Would that make this PCB compatible with a Viper case? Or am I overlooking something

No it is not compatible. It's close though but you'd have to do some cutting, which I do not recommend.

the pcb will fit in a viper case, but you need to get a new plate cut, and the USB port needs to be, ahem, adjusted to fit, but not any dangerous cutting

but it's not at all worth the effort

I did a comparison between E6 and Viper,
There are two points after the PCB comparison
1. The distance between switches in e6 pcb is less than the one in viper --> means the e6 pcb is not compatible with viper plate
2. The width of e6 pcb is larger than viper --> means you need to cut it narrower first if you insist to use one with your own plate
3. the USB port position is exactly same, also the MCU position --> means no change need to be made about the case

How are the switch distances different? Doesn't that mean the keycaps won't work as well? I thought that stuff was all standard.

Key units are 19.05mm as standard, E6 is 19.00mm. Keycaps are 18.1mm wide (1u).

Makes me wonder if the PCB would fit the 356mini? They seem very similar now I'm thinking about it.

i don't believe it will, i think it needs to be ground down too much since the mini has super tight tolerances

Since we’ve got time while we wait, how are the different switch plates cut? Laser, water jet, CNC?

I'd advise only checking in with the people who requested it. With others, assume that it is still the same address.
